Gitmo Detainees Love Reading 50 Shades Of Grey

From the Huffington Post:

Guantanamo’s Secret Camp Loves ‘Shades Of Grey’ Series, Officials Tell Congressional Delegation

By Ryan J. Reilly | July 29, 2013

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Military officials gave a congressional delegation a tour of Guantanamo’s secretive Camp Seven last week and told a visiting congressional delegation that the camp’s high-value detainees enjoy the Shades of Grey series, Rep. Jim Moran (D-Va.) told The Huffington Post.

"Rather than the Quran, the book that is requested most by the [high-value detainees] is Fifty Shades of Grey. They’ve read the entire series in English, but we were willing to translate it," Moran, who advocates for closing the facility, told HuffPost. "I guess there’s not much going on, these guys are going nowhere, so what the hell." …

It’s too bad the title has been taken, because ‘Fifty Shades Of Grey’ would make a great title for one of the upcoming Hillary movies.

But are we supposed to believe that these little darlings are learning to read English, or did the US taxpayers get to pay to have the book translated into Arabic? Still, given their views on women in general, this news isn’t all that surprising.

Meanwhile, along these same lines, we have these tiding from jolly old England, via an amused Associated Press:

Fire brigade to handcuffs users: Don’t get stuck

July 29, 2013

LONDON (AP) — London firefighters say they have freed hundreds of people with body parts trapped in household objects in the last three years, including 18 children with heads stuck in potties or toilet seats and 79 people trapped in handcuffs.

The London Fire Brigade speculated that the popularity of erotic novel "Fifty Shades of Grey" may account for a rise in handcuffs-related emergencies.

"I don’t know whether it’s the ‘Fifty Shades’ effect, but the number of incidents involving items like handcuffs seems to have gone up," said Third Officer Dave Brown.

Since 2010, London firefighters have treated almost 500 people with rings stuck on their fingers, nine with rings stuck on their penises, and one man with his penis stuck in a toaster

Too much information.

  1. Petronius says:

Jim ‘nolo” Moran (D-VA), quoted in the lead article, is a notorious anti-Semite, which no doubt plays some part in motivating his efforts on behalf of GITMO detainees.

Moran represents Virginia’s 8th Congressional district in the Washington DC suburbs (Arlington, Alexandria). Once a Republican stronghold, the 8th district turned solidly Democrat after having been thoroughly saturated by Muslim and other immigration. Moran himself is a Massachusetts native who immigrated from Boston to Virginia. In other words, he’s a carpetbagger.

Moran is also a perfect fit for the regime: not only an anti-Semite, Moran is a former boxer and notorious for his unpredictable, brash, and thuggish behavior, short temper, and brushes with the law, including assaults or threats against his ex-wife Mary Moran, his Republican opponent Mrs. Demaris Miller, Rep. Dan Burton, Rep. Randy “Duke” Cunningham, comic Stephen Colbert, reporter J. Michael Waller, the Capitol Police, a black second grade constituent whom Moran caught messing with his car, et al. He has also been involved in some pay-to-play scams and entered a plea of nolo contendere in a prosecution involving conflict of interest while mayor of Alexandria. He is a strong redistributionist. He is also remembered in connection with voter fraud schemes, including incriminating statements made by his son and campaign manager, Patrick Moran, who was caught on film by James O’Keefe. Patrick was also convicted for assault on his girlfriend.

While I’m on the subject, it should be noted that most of Virginia’s Congressional delegation are Yankee transplants. Only two of Virginia’s eleven Congressmen are life-long residents of Virginia, and only one (Randy Forbes, a Republican of Chesapeake, VA) is deeply rooted in the Commonwealth. This largely explains the support for the Gang of Eight’s amnesty bill by Eric Cantor, Bob Goodlatte, and other Virginia Republicans.

Thus the Virginia Congressional delegation includes 4 from Massachusetts, 2 from Pennsylvania, 1 from the District of Columbia (whose parents were immigrants), 1 from New York, and 1 from Florida:

    1st Robert Wittman (R) – Washington DC/1st gen American
    2d Scott Rigell (R) – Titusville, FL
    3d Bobby Scott (D) – Massachusetts
    4th Randy Forbes (R) – Chesapeake, VA
    5th Robert Hurt (R) – New York
    6th Bob Goodlatte (R) – Massachusetts
    7th Eric Cantor (R) – Richmond, VA
    8th Jim Moran (D) – Massachusetts
    9th Morgan Griffith (R) – Pennsylvania
    10th Frank Wolf (R) – Pennsylvania
    11th Gerry Connolly (D) – Massachusetts

Both of Virginia’s Democrat Senators are also non-Virginians –– Mark Warner (Connecticut) and Tim Kaine (Minnesota). Governor Robert McDonnell (R) is originally from Pennsylvania. The current Democrat candidate for governor, Terry McAuliffe, is a native of New York and former DNC Chairman and Clinton henchman; the Republican candidate, Ken Cuccinelli, currently Attorney General, is originally from New Jersey and a Tea Party favorite.

I’m originally from Chesapeake (the Forbes’ have been there forever) and now live in Moron’s district. This area is HEAVY liberal, with the bulk coming from overflow from DC, due to its great proximity in driving to the district. I live in a very small pocket of Republican within Moron’s district, but it equates to about 2 busy streets and a few neighborhoods. The rest of the Moron’s district is very, born-into-wealth, NE libs, and no-speaka-da-English transplants. We go from some of the nation’s wealthiest to welfare babies in a few miles…translating to: this area will be heavy lib for a very long time.

Personally, I like it up here, as there is always something to do (provided the economy doesn’t suck and you can afford to do anything); but it is a pleasant area (my Republican enclave). That said, this area is nothing like the rest of the state. Unfortunately, the state is in a period of transition, having given us doofus Warner and Kombat Boots Kaine. Hopefully, my boy Cuccinelli can keep making waves.

      I understand completely.

Because I lived for nearly a decade in Boulder, CO. Nobody is native, yet everyone insists they know what’s best for Boulder, the County and Colorado.

After divorcing the reason for Boulder I underwent years of all-beef electro-shock lentil-free Baptist therapy before I could simply pick out socks without worrying about the Left one or the Right one.

    • Petronius says:

Harry Flood Byrd, Jr., the last real-Virginian Senator, died today at age 98. It’s the end of an era.

Apart from Randy Forbes (R 4th VA), my guy was the last real-Virginian Congressman: Virgil Goode (R 5th VA). The 5th district runs from Charlottesville down to the North Carolina line. Goode was a member of Ron Paul’s Liberty Caucus. He lost his seat by a narrow margin in Nerobama’s 2008 landslide. After that he was no longer welcome in the Republican Party; like Tom Tancredo, he was regarded by Washington elites as too conservative on the amnesty and immigration issue. Goode then ran for president on the Constitution Party ticket in 2012.

I currently vibrate between VA and the 5th NC, which was formerly represented by Senator Richard Burr (R NC) and now by Virginia Foxx (R 5th NC) who is a Yankee transplant from New York City.

  2. canary says:

Petronius, good homework and I wonder if D Rep Jim Moran is lying through his teeth or telling a poor joke which could lead to riots if the detainees hear of it.

To think at one time the guards had to resort to screening movies for the radical Gitmo detainees because just a commercial of a woman’s arms showing as she brushed her teeth for a toothpaste add could start a riot.

If Moran’s statement get’s around the radical Islamic are not reading the Koran and riots start will Hillary blame that filthy, vile book going around the prison to excuse the animal behavior.

Hillary acting so shocked of that video when her own husband’s alleged rapes and wearing that tie around his neck was too ironic.

Now Moran has given an excuse for the detainees to be released in the US to avoid going home and getting their heads chopped off for being westernized perverts.

For those like me that didn’t know what the book contained and checked wiki-pedia

“It is notable for its explicitly erotic scenes featuring elements of sexual practices involving bondage/discipline, dominance/submission, and sadism/masochism (BDSM).”

As if the bite mark wounds increase from the vampire era isn’t enough.

  3. Noyzmakr says:

C’mon. Let’s be honest here. We all know why these perverts are reading this book. They must have lost their subscription to Hustler magazine.

Let’s not forget that the 9/11 hijackers frequented strip clubs in their last days before the attack.

These guys just can’t wait for their 72 virgins.

  4. wirenut says:

I too have not been supplied with the grey book, sucks to be a taxpayer,I guess. The book I would write wouldn’t
be about the 72 virgins for these terrorist’s. More like the half-dozen goats and a mule in the outhouse. A simple documentary.
Noyz, I’m thinking you mean, Hustler, the small farm animal edition.
