Giuliani attacks Clinton in campaign ad

By LIBBY QUAID, Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON - Republican presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani criticized Democratic front-runner Hillary Rodham Clinton in a full-page ad in Friday’s New York Times, accusing her of attacking Iraq war commander Gen. David Petraeus’ character.

The ad paid for by the Giuliani campaign attempts to link Clinton to another ad, paid for by MoveOn.org, a liberal anti-war group, that ran in the Times on Monday. The MoveOn ad accused Petraeus of “cooking the books” on the Iraq war and played off his name, asking, “General Petraeus or General Betray Us?”

Meanwhile, MoveOn’s political action committee will begin airing a new ad on television Monday that accuses Bush of a “betrayal of trust.” The ad will run from Monday to Friday in Washington on cable and nationally on CNN. The total ad buy is $60,000.

The MoveOn TV ad argues that, despite plans to withdraw about 30,000 troops added to the U.S. military presence in Iraq earlier this year, Bush remains mired in the war…

Responding Friday to Giuliani’s criticism, Clinton campaign spokesman Phil Singer said, “It’s hardly surprising that Mayor Giuliani is running the first negative ad of the ‘08 campaign, given his inability to justify his unqualified support for President Bush’s failed Iraq strategy.

Senator Clinton respects Gen. Petraeus’ service to our country. She knows the best way to honor our soldiers is to end the war in Iraq and bring them home,” Singer said.

A conservative group, Freedom’s Watch, which supports President Bush’s Iraq war strategy, also plans a print ad in the Times and has demanded the same $65,000 rate that the liberal group paid for its full-page ad. Giuliani is getting the same rate.

Well, it looks like the New York Times can still be shamed.

Of course that’s not the case with MoveOn.org or Hillary Clinton.

“It’s hardly surprising that Mayor Giuliani is running the first negative ad of the ‘08 campaign…”

You have to have a conscience to feel shame.

Is this going to run on Fox or the NY Post too.

I mean, we want people to actually see it don’t we?

Ouch……….. Forgot the drop off in circulation of the Times. Guess THAT explains the massive discounts in advertising. LOL

Well, it looks like the New York Times can still be shamed.

I don’t think so. I think they suddenly realized that their butt was in a crack with either the FEC or IRS and they are just trying to get out of the whole thing no matter how much money they lose.

I would imagine Pinch has been getting some interesting emails and letters from NYT shareholders.

I’m so confused….I could have sworn the General Patraeus ad by moveon was the first. Guess I just don’t understand all of this. /sarc

NEW YORK, Sep 13, 2007 (AP via COMTEX News Network) — Shares of New York Times Co. hit a 52-week low for the second day in a row Thursday as a Goldman Sachs analyst cut his price target and lowered some earnings estimates, citing disappointing August ad revenue results.
The question begs to be asked if the NYT is looking to the Soros clan for bailout?

Not that there isn’t just a whiff of political opportunism about this, but still, go Giuliani.

“Senator Clinton respects Gen. Petraeus’ service to our country. She knows the best way to honor our soldiers is to end the war in Iraq and bring them home,” Singer said.

Singer is living in another country….Senator Clinton hates Petraeus’s guts….she hates the success he has brought in Iraq….and she positively loathes anything that can be viewed as an impediment to her glorious stairway to being King of the World.

Anyone who thinks that Hillary Clinton is anything but a cold hearted myopic power mad machine is deluding themselves. Why do you think that Moveon.org wants her in power? Why do you think she supports one of the most vile groups in this country? It is because they have identical agendas, virtually identical viewpoints on true democracy, and both are using the other to be power brokers after the 08 elections.

Hillary shot herself in the foot though….as did the rest of the morons in congress who refuse to condemn the moveon ad. People dont sit well with this kind of crap, unless you are a worthless chipmunk brained looney like the Snag, and they are going to remember this come election. Al Qaida has invested millions in a democrat win…as has most other far left or terror supporters like congress, Soros, Hollywood, and our usual collection of bark eating ameobas that prefer anarchy and socialism to democracy.

She is a filthy rotten corpse using a human body to be able to communicate….and regardless of her hopes, she will not be the next president of the United States. Voters are stirring….and being made painfully aware of the true enemies of our society….and they are sitting in Washington.

That, plus the fact that she is a douchebag, means no one has to remind me to hate her in the morning. Every time I sit on the hopper, I am reminded of Hillary and all she stands for.

Three things that require “The Willing Suspension of Disbelief”

    a. That Hillary Clinton or any leftist would honor a military man, that has serviced with Honor. Service with honor has no meaning to the leftists because they have no concept of honor.

    b. That anyone in the American public is willing to ignore the political contributions
scandals and elect this woman President.

    c. That an investor would buy shares in the NYTs thinking their stock price was going to rise.

Rush played a parody of our favorite Liberals singing”WE Hate the U.S.A.”, by Paul Shanklin, on his radio show today. The audio is still available on the Rush Limbaugh homepage. (A response to the Lanny Davis’ paranoid accusations about Rush.) Everyone probably has already heard it already. I had to mention as it is soooooo funny and too true, not to mention how appropriate it is in light of all of the events that have unfolded in the media this week.

I’m confused…just what is a “negative ad”? Now if Sheehanjihad’s last post was run as an ad, I’d consider that negative (accurate…but negative!). To me, though, using someone’s own words and actions (or lack of action, in this case) to draw distinctions between one candidate and another is NOT negative, it is the essence of politics. Rudy’s camp has at least had the courtesy of creating an ad that only represents the true facts here, without spin or misrepresentation. They have not taken her words “out of context” or created a situation that doesn’t actually exist. That to me makes this a “positive ad” to the 58% of Americans that have an unfavorable view of Sen. Clinton.

““Senator Clinton respects Gen. Petraeus’ service to our country. She knows the best way to honor our soldiers is to end the war in Iraq and bring them home,” Singer said.”

What a contradiction. She respects Gen. Petraeus, but not enough to let them do the job that needs to be done. She once again is tying to straddle the fence and trying to make both sides happy with her view. She does not really want to take a stand, one way or the other. All of us who know Billary knows where she stands (along with her “husband”) on the military. One reason why we are so understrength right now is due to her husband and the cuts that he did while in office.

Of course, the new ads that Moveon will show on CNN, the only ones that watch that station are Liberals. It is the same as preaching to the choir. As to the NYTimes giving bargain rates on full page ads, don’t know if I can really blame them. If they are really hurting in circulation, they need the money. They may be willing to accept almost anything just to get some cash flow.

“She knows the best way to honor our soldiers is to end the war in Iraq and bring them home.”

Well, why not really honor them and let them do their job so that after the next attack, they don’t have to go back?

Why is it the Senator from New York is so anxious to see a mushroom cloud over her state?
