‘Green’ Barack Obama Was A SUV Owner

From the Wall Street Journal:

The Title Tells All: Obama’s Jeep Wasn’t Cheap

May 11, 2010

Clocking in at 133,000 miles with a few dings to prove it, Liz Murphy’s 2000 Jeep Cherokee is valued at about $3,500, according to Kelley Blue Book.

But last week, someone paid $26,437.50 for it. The reason: Its previous owner was Barack Obama.

Armed with the paperwork, Murphy, an executive assistant in Naperville, Ill., auctioned off the president’s former vehicle, using a small auction house in New Jersey that mainly deals in sports memorabilia. Robert Edward Auctions of Watchung, N.J., listed the Jeep online as “one of the most significant, albeit unconventional, historical items we have ever offered.” Bidding started at the Blue Book value, drew 28 bidders and ended with John Reznikoff, a collector in Westport, Conn.

“I would have been willing to pay over $100,000 for it,” he says. He will add the car to his collection of presidential artifacts, which include two of John F. Kennedy’s parade cars, Lyndon Johnson’s sports coat and Ronald Reagan’s rocking chair.

Murphy purchased the black Jeep for $15,000 in September 2004 from a used-car dealer in La Grange, Ill. When she delivered the check, the seller gave her the paperwork and pointed to the name on the title, asking if she recognized it. “I said, ‘Hey, isn’t that guy a politician in Chicago?’” she recalls.

Obama’s name and address are noted on the original title: “Barack Obama/5450 S. East View Park/Chicago, IL 60615,” as is the date of original purchase: “8/26/00.” The seller suggested she make a copy before she had to turn it in to the motor-vehicle agency. “You never know, he might be president some day,’” she recalls he said.

“I put it with all my papers and never thought about it until 2008 comes,” Murphy says. She says the president left some reminders in the car: The lingering smell of cigarette smoke, a wear mark on the steering wheel, and a small tear in the leather of the driver’s seat

We also suspect that the car pulls strongly to the left.

But, gee, it seems like only yesterday (though actually it was back in May of 2008), that Mr. Obama was lecturing us about the evils of driving SUVs.

From the archives of the Agence France-Presse (AFP):

Obama camp spies endgame in Oregon

(AFP) – May 16, 2008

WASHINGTON (AFP) — Barack Obama set his sights on November’s general election Saturday as he campaigned in Oregon, where he hopes to declare victory in the race for the Democratic presidential nomination…

Pitching his message to Oregon’s environmentally-conscious voters, Obama called on the United States to "lead by example" on global warming, and develop new technologies at home which could be exported to developing countries.

"We can’t drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times … and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK," Obama said.

"That’s not leadership. That’s not going to happen," he added

But now it looks like Mr. Obama was himself driving a SUV as recently as 2004. And, since his campaign for the Senate in 2004, he has probably only been squired around in SUVs or limousines.

But of course this is the same man that keeps the White House thermostat cranked up high enough to heat a green house.

That’s what Mr. Obama means by “leadership.”

Just like a liberal: overpaying for something that ordinary consumers would shop around for the best price.

-‘ keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times’-

Let us not forget this gem from Jan 28, 2009 –

-‘ Mr. Obama, who hates the cold, had cranked up the thermostat.

“He’s from Hawaii, O.K.?” said Mr. Obama’s senior adviser, David Axelrod, who occupies the small but strategically located office next door to his boss. “He likes it warm’- Mr. Axelrod, like all those surrounding Obama is an idiot, as Obama has not lived in Hawaii since 1979 – and for only the years of 1961-1979 – so a mere 1/3rd of his life was spent in temperate climates, 2/3rds in the Northern US climates – and Obama had not lived in that climate for 30 years – what a schmuck.

So once again, we have another fiberal espousing lies and a Do As I Say, Not As I Do line.

  3. Right of the People says:

Don’t forget the vehicle he apparently trading this in on was a Chrysler 300 with a Hemi. A very green and fuel efficient vehicle (NOT!).

Just another case of ‘Do as I say, not as I do’ like WardMama said.

Do as I say, not as I do is a hallmark of dictators and megalomaniacs.

It’s how you know George Bush was about as far as you can get from Hitler, whereas the Moron has the full monty.

    “Murphy purchased the black Jeep…”

I first read this as, Murphy purchased the black sheep. Funny how the mind works!

    “‘Green’ Barack Obama ”

Hey .. I thought he was black. Maybe he’s only partially green!?!?

Wait a minute .. he’s only half black. So .. is he only a quarter green?

Gosh .. how does a guy keep track now-a-days? Half black, half white, green, .. next, we’ll hear maybe a little purple.

“We also suspect that the car pulls strongly to the left.”

OK, I about fell out over that. Steve, you have made my day with that one.

Is it a Native American or a Grand Native American?

    Made in Mexico or Canada?

    Just asking.

I’m noticing the vehicle is black and not white.
