If this wasn’t going on in my backyard it would be almost entertaining watching the vultures of the U.S. government and the UAW hyenas fight over the rotting corpses that once were GM and Chrysler a few months from now.

As far as the unions go they’ve just been had. Seniority will be abolished and affirmative action will replace it.The best they can do for themselves is to walk. I was very disconcerting to see the bosses of the big 3 groveling in front of those liars, crooks, and tax cheats. But is there any leader stepping up to martial opposition?, not really, time to show the picture of that Frenchman again, cause we’re all his brothers!

The inmates are running the asylum. The workers are running the factories. These people in Washington DC are like so many people I have worked with. They are smarter than the boss. They can do a better job than the boss. How about we try this. First if we have to deal with unions (and by the way I HATE unions) let’s set up at least three different auto workers unions so that the car companies can negotiate for the best deal. Next we dump all the stupid regulation on emissions and gas mileage and let them build a car that actually gets great gas mileage. And maybe some corporate tax breaks, not bailout money, would be in order. In a nut shell WASHINGTON STAY THE HELL OUT OF AMERICAN BUSINESS!!!!!

Anyway, I agree with you all that say the executives, probably Republicans, should have done us all a service and shot right back at the pompous Democrats. But it just goes to show that when you’re in “a time that tries men’s souls,” talk of Republicans and Democrats is too shallow. We are talking about something bigger now. But these exec’s have had a lifetime of looking out for #1, and they’ll never suffer financially anyhow. So play the game with whoever’s in power and lose your honor. Why would any young businessman or woman want to look up to them?!? This kind of selling out by older people has been going on big time since the 60′s, especially. That was when prayer was kicked out of school; I remember it. I also lived with a lot of the consequences that seemed to follow. It was like we were saying to God, ‘We don’t want you as part of our public life anymore.’ I think that was the ruinous part of the prayer being expelled–the spirit that was behind it, more than the physical act of the prayer. Anyway, the nation’s stunk more and more ever since!

Exactly right! The moment they took government money and didn’t point out that government was a big part of the problem, they signed their own death warrants. Start shrugging Atlas! I would rather see these big companies crash and burn versus continue to swallow taxpayers dollars and drag out the pain.
