Fear Not, Obama Considering Presidency
From the DNC's Associated Press:
Sen. Obama says he's weighing 2008 run
WASHINGTON - Sen. Barack Obama acknowledged Sunday he was considering a run for president in 2008, backing off previous statements that he would not do so.
The Illinois Democrat said he could no longer stand by the statements he made after his 2004 election and earlier this year that he would serve a full six-year term in Congress. He said he would not make a decision until after the Nov. 7 elections.
"That was how I was thinking at that time," said Obama, when asked on NBC's "Meet the Press" about his previous statements.
"Given the response I've been getting the last several months, I have thought about the possibility" although not with any seriousness or depth, he said. "My focus is on '06. … After November 7, I'll sit down and consider it."
Obama was largely unknown outside Illinois when he burst onto the national scene with a widely acclaimed address at the 2004 Democratic National Convention.
In recent weeks, his political stock has been rising as a potentially viable centrist candidate for president in 2008 after former Virginia Gov. Mark Warner announced earlier this month that he was bowing out of the race.
In a recent issue of Time magazine, Obama's face fills the cover next to the headline, "Why Barack Obama Could Be The Next President." He is currently on a tour promoting his latest book, "The Audacity of Hope: Thoughts on Reclaiming the American Dream."
On Sunday, Obama dismissed notions that he might not be ready to run for president because of his limited experience in national politics. He agreed the job requires a "certain soberness and seriousness" and "can't be something you pursue on the basis of vanity and ambition."
"I'm not sure anyone is ready to be president before they're president," Obama said. "I trust the judgment of the American people.
"We have a long and vigorous process. Should I decide to run, if I ever decide to, I'll be confident that I'll be run through the paces pretty well," Obama said.
Why? Because he has a Muslim-sounding name? Or is he just trying to make Hillary look qualified?
I know I won't be able to sleep a wink until Mr. Obama announces one way or the other.

Well, I am considering not voting for him or Hillary.
SG, I must warn you that is now against the FCC rules not to say, the DNC’s rising young star whenever Osammayomama name is mentioned.

I am sorry but this DNC’s rising young star is a jerk in my book. He turned on his (white) mother and (white) grandparents who raised him to ‘emote’ and ‘extoll’ on a (dead, how convenient) father who abandoned the family (he created) to return to Africa (after getting a great American secondary education).
Dreams from My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance - is the sad, sad story of the poor boy who wasn’t white but raised by whites who had this ephiany in Africa after finding out who he was. What racist garbage that is - I know lots of mixed race people who don’t turn tail on the people that raised them and stood by them for the louse who ran back home.
What a bag the DNC is offering for 2008 - a lying, traitorous loser whose wife is selling out America in an anti-American ‘trust’ fraud, oops fund. A feminazi socialist healthcare (with illegal immigrants eligible) and ‘greater good’ taxaholic married to a lying sex addict/offender or a black turncoat racist who wants to return American to the ‘true’ American dream.
God help America - vote Republican in ‘06 and ‘08.

But he IS a muslim, isn’t he?? For president?? Fits the DNC template perfectly, but the left are really out there if they even consider him, which they are, and seem to be. Stand by, this could get interesting…..

Trust me on this one people…..Obama is the one that will be in the election in 08….and the DNC has been quietly massaging him for months….he has everything necessary to run….and he will beat Hillary in the primaries because she carries so much baggage and is viewed by the DNC as a loose cannon, whereas Obama will step up, unite the party, and in my opinon, even get conservatives attention with his message. Just watch….I have been, for months now, just because I kinda figured he was going to run one way or the other…he is slicker than dog snot on a doorknob…..so you heard it here first.
October 22nd, 2006 at 1:16 pm
Well, I bought his speaking ability at the DNC Convention but then after researching him, he’s a Muslim and won’t win with Conservatives. They can try to hide it but he was raised by a Muslim grandfather for awhile.
Plus Oprah is pushing him and I think the Oprah phenomena is peaked. People are just sick of her now that she is pushing her black agenda.

Didn’t Ted Kennedy call him “Osama Bahama?” That’s my favorite nickname for him. It’s like Tommy Bahama, but for mohammedans.

“But he IS a muslim, isn’t he?”
Osama claims to be a Congregationalist, which is a Protestant blend.
But he was born to a Muslim and a woman from Kansas. His mom divorced the Muslim when Osama was two, but she immediately married another one, and they moved to his home in Jakarta.
Just a couple of years later Osama was shipped back to live with his mother’s parents in Hawaii. And they are the ones who really raised him.
So presumably he was raised as a Christian.

QUESTION:
If Obama is elected President, will he be the 2nd black president or just a Ray Nagin “chocolate” president????
October 22nd, 2006 at 5:15 pm
Has any politician in US history advanced so far and so quickly with absolutely no credentials and no demonstrated ability at all? Okay, maybe JF’nK.
Osama Obama trades on the color of his skin rather than on the content of his character.
His only seeming qualification is that he appeared on “Doprah”.
I don’t like nor trust this militant racist.
Oh, he’s running.

I don’t have an opinion on Obama - other than that he’s a Dem and I’m not. Doesn’t matter at the moment, because I’m not somewhere where my opinion about him counts for anything…..
I do have to say though….that picture is _great_! Makes me wish he _were_ “my guy”…! (politically, I mean!) We could sure use a Superman about now!
October 22nd, 2006 at 5:48 pm
“Trust me on this one people…..Obama is the one that will be in the election in 08″
SJ, I not sure he will be the nominee, but you’re right about one thing (IMHO) He’ll wipe out the MSM’s front runner. Unless she has some dirt on him.
I can’t wait for the demo primaries….. these low lifes will eat each other faster than 1st eats okra.
The dems should consider going to “pay for view”. Talk about a “survivor” show !!
October 22nd, 2006 at 6:10 pm
Muslims have been very clear that their goal is to have a muslim in the White House by 2020. Members of CAIR have stated they’re ahead of their original timeline.
“I, Barack Hussein Obama, Jr. do solemnly swear….”
How many Americans will vote for a muslim for President?
The dems have a habit of tossing black candidates aside and not supporting them. How many blacks have attained real positions of power and authority within their party?
October 22nd, 2006 at 7:42 pm
I hate to bring this up because I have no doubt what I’m about to say will generate comments that I’m racist, which I absolutely, positively am not. But it needs to be said.
Barack Obama is a highly educated, extremely personable and well spoken man. He is also a one term senator with no legislative accomplishments to speak of (as a member of the minority party that is understandable, but true notwithstanding).
This being the case, can someone explain to me how he is qualified to be the president of the United States?
If Obama were White, would anyone seriously be talking about him as a presidential contender? Of course not. The only reason he IS being talked about is the patronizing, insulting attitude of some people that an educated, personable and well spoken Black man must be some kind of superseding genius. And I have no doubt that the Democratic party will happily exploit this attitude if it looks like there’s pay dirt in it for them.
What a sickening insult to Black people, including Obama himself!
There is only one word to describe this. Racism. It is every bit as racist as if someone called Obama the “n” word (I assume I can’t type it out here, but you know what word I’m talking about). And it is sad beyond my ability to articulate that racism this insidious is thought of as some kind of ticket to higher office.
October 22nd, 2006 at 8:11 pm
As is the case with so many Senators, they have no executive experience - no budget experience, no experience making the difficult decisions - pardons, clemency, sending troops/militia into harm’s way, etc, etc….
October 22nd, 2006 at 8:13 pm
I agree with your assessment Ken but let’s not forget the Breck Girl here. He was a first term senator who was more than likely not even going to be re-elected in North Carolina and he finished second in the democratic loser-a-thon in 2004. Truth is, experience is starting to mean less and less in politics nowadays. It’s all about image. Bill Clinton was a horrible failure as a governor but his so-called charisma (and GHWB’s total lack of effort) got him elected president. Hillary was nobody as well and check her out now.
The fact that it’s all about image and the fact that the media controls image pretty much dictates the type of candidates you will get from here on out. I hear how people like Harold Ford are hot properties because they run “as conservatives”. But republicans are blasted by the msm unless they run to the left (McCain). So now it’s all about candidates being what the uninformed masses want them to be, not what they actually are. This is the Clinton phenomenon.
Obama isn’t especially appealing to me because, one, he’s a lawyer. Washington has too many of those as it is and they do nothing but make things worse. Two, he’s a democrat. Three, he’s as full of shit as a Christmas turkey and anyone with half a pulse can see through his line in second. He is a self-appointed star which won’t impress many after they get a little more of him.
I think he is basically running for VP. The msm wants Hillary and won’t settle for anyone else so he gets the door prize. That ticket would be a Godsend for a sound republican ticket. And by sound, I mean a conservative one. No Giuliani or McCain. Most people want conservative presidents. But I never underestimate the ability of the voting public to pick who they are told to pick.

IPA - If your point is that John Edwards is the White version of Barack Obama, I’m with you. And I fully agree that media a) are capable of creating a candidate out of someone who has no business being one and b) have no compunction about doing so.
This being the case, you might be interested in my new book, “The Hopelessly Partisan Guide To American Politics”. While I and my co-author (Barry Sinrod) offer a mostly humorous, satirical take on the differences between Republicans and Democrats, a number of serious points are made as well. I have a feeling you would be particularly interested in what they are.

Kennedy called him Osama Obama. Obama is half white. But there is no money in that. So he runs as the latest Black Superstar. Want admission to your preferred university? Black. Want to be given credit for your race to get into law school? Black. Want to be given preference at a high dollar law firm? Black. But wait………….want to run for Congress? Go out and tell the unwashed masses how you will represent ALL of them because you are? Half white. Your mother (who you turned your back on) was white. Your father (who was a slug of a Muslim and deserted you) was black.
Take a good look at what is going on in Washington, boys and girls. Where is Joe McCarthy when we really need him?
October 22nd, 2006 at 10:34 pm
I remember seeing this guy on local TV when he was just a state legislator in Illinois. I knew then he was destined for the dizzying heights of substance-free political celebrity.
“The only reason he IS being talked about is the patronizing, insulting attitude of some people that an educated, personable and well spoken Black man must be some kind of superseding genius.”
An attitude that owes something to the image projected by far too many local-level Black pols. Exhibit A:
http://www.sweetness-light.com.....ty-hearing
A second layer to the impression of Obama as Democrat Messiah is that he is, as far as is known, unscathed by scandal or a checkered past. Which sets him apart not only from his fellow Black Dems, but Dems in general.
It’s not just that he’s (half) black, he’s “cosmopolitan.”
Had more to say but Mrs. Nimbles is on the phone with an undermotivated Independent old friend back in our old IL stomping grounds who I had to go convince to get out and vote American.
October 22nd, 2006 at 11:14 pm
The DNC’s best chances of gaining power is through two types of politicians; type 1 Victims ( sorry but war heroes goes into this category, type 2 Slick (meaning liars and smart)
Hackett of Ohio is Type 1
Harold Ford Jr. and Al-Obama are the Type 2
I believe it’s actually a good thing if the Al-Obama’s lead the DNC, if an educated electorite can not see through these guys we dont deserve to have a republic and should be speaking arab in the caliphite.

More like “flash in the pan”.
October 23rd, 2006 at 5:51 pm
So Momma Oprah, the View, the MSM, et al, propose Obama as the up and coming “rock star” of the political scene? After all, he is pushing “his book” so all the gushing adoration is justified by his sanctimonious supporters.
And what’s this? It appears that none of the “extreme” political pundits of the “media” are chastising him for the unwavering support of his chosen party affiliation, are they?
Where are the “usual” accusations of being a “house niggah”, or he is just an “Uncle Tom”, or “he’s a chicken voting for Colonel Saunders” or he’s “another plantation worker”, or he “slavishly” supports his party.
Oh, that’s right! Obama is a Dhimmicrat and one would never use “those” terms to describe him.
Oh my… the MSM or the “extreme” political pundits would not stoop to the level of those racial epithets now would they..???
By the way, for all the trolls and liberal asshats out there already branding me as just another conservative racist, take the following to heed. All of the racial slurs I posted above, were used by high ranking Democratic officials or by traditional media outlets, to describe various black Republicans / conservatives whom have served their country admirably such as J.C. Watts Jr., Michael Steele, Larry D. Thompson, Condi Rice, Ward Connerly and Colin Powell among others.
The hypocritical media, Dhimmi’s and liberals never cease to amaze me. Obama has served as a US Senator for less than two years and he’s being touted as a potential candidate for POTUS in 08′…WTF?? That’s like promoting the mailroom manager of GE, directly to the CEO’s position. Truman and FDR must be rolling over in their graves.

Abbreviated stint in the IL legislature?? Is the author saying that Obama didn’t complete his tour of duty in the legislature because he ran for the US Senate?? Now he’s thinking of running for President without fullfilling his tour of duty as a Senator. Who is writing his playbook. Hillary???

I thought I was gonna die laughing….Spash K called Barack Obama “Osama binbama” at a DNC fundraiser, and it was on video…..holy crap. See what cheap scotch does to a brain?
October 24th, 2006 at 7:30 pm
It’s better than that, SJ, he actually called him “Osama Bin Laden” first, and them mumbled and slurred the rest of it - I think Rush has it on his site. He was criticized for calling The Rising Star “Osama Obama” by some ignoramus who didn’t know he was poking fun of Splash. It’s a good clip if you can find the audio.

The Package: A 21st-century multi-cultural Messiah, come to reconcile the Young and the Old, the Black and the White, the Christian and the Muslim, the Rich and the Poor, the Pragmatic and the Idealistic. Come to Heal our divisions and Resolve our Endless fighting with a Third Way that Transcends left and right, leading to Everlasting peace, joy, and love and Looking good on TV while doing it.
The Product: One more old-school tax-and-spend kill-the-fetus micromanage-the-military govern-by-international-consensus liberal short on resume and long on hype.
Let Obama pork up, lose his hair, start talking in rhymes and obtuse Biblical references, and then we’d see how much love the “View/Oprah” crowd retains for him. Not to say they might not still love him, but then he’d be worth considering as a contender. For the time being he’s a prime time dramedy character who wandered through a rift in reality and wound up in the US Senate.
October 25th, 2006 at 7:46 am
Excellent analysis, Nimblicity - or “diagnosis” I should say, considering how insane it is that this young pup’s even being taken seriously as a potential candidate.
October 27th, 2006 at 4:01 am
Obama now fully supports Connecticut senatorial candidate Ned Lamont. Just months ago he fully supported Joe Lieberman.
He’s a proven flip-flopper now, so I guess he might be a democratic Presidential contender.
