Obama-Care, A Matter Of Life And Death

When you boil it down, and strip away all the claims except for what Mr. Obama has said about ‘his plan’ it really amounts to a very little change on the face of it.

1) Mr. Obama is going to require that everyone have insurance. If they don’t, they will have it provided for them via the government through Medicare/Medicaid – and the costs and penalties will be taken out of our income tax return. (A plan he strongly criticized Mrs. Clinton for during the campaign.)

2) Mr. Obama is going to put everyone’s medical records online. (Specifically, via Google, which gave him so much money and help during the campaign and since his election.)

3) Mr. Obama is going to have a White House panel, rather than Congress, decide how much Medicare/Medicaid will be reimbursed for procedures.

This enumeration leaves out proposed changes that Mr. Obama has subsequently denied will be in the final bill.

Such as taxes healthcare benefits to pay for this (something for which he criticized Mr. McCain during the campaign.) And the alleged reduction of Medicare/Medicaid benefits, which Mr. Obama has regularly promised not to do.

But if Mr. Obama does not institute either of these changes, it is very hard to see how the program is going to be paid for.

1) How is Obama’s plan going to save the billions that claims his reforms will save? We are simply expanding Medicare/Medicaid which is already far worse than broke.

2) And if this plan is not going to save money, what is the need to rush it through?

And, if these reforms are going to save so many billions of dollars, why does even Mr. Obama admit that taxes will have to be raised (on the rich) and new taxes created (for the rich) to pay for them?

However, the single most important change being considered is the plan to put the White House in charge of deciding how much Medicare/Medicaid will be reimbursed and which procedures will be allowed.

(Even the White House chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, has admitted that this is by far the most important and least discussed aspect to Mr. Obama’s plan.)

All in all, apart from mandating that everyone have insurance, Obama-care on the face of it really doesn’t amount to all that much change, except that it will eventually put the government in charge of deciding what we can and cannot have done by doctors and hospitals. For it will be the government who will decide what the doctors and hospitals will be paid for.

Even if private insurance does somehow manage to survive in the face of far cheaper government insurance, how long will it be before they too will only reimburse for what the government reimburses for? Otherwise, how will they possibly compete in the marketplace, unless they only cater to the super rich elite?

Is there any doubt that Mr. Obama’s healthcare reform will eventually be wielded by the government officials to decide how we live?

Bureaucrats will eventually decide whether what we are doing, how we live, is to be deemed healthy or not, all with an eye to the public good. After all, why should taxpayers subsidize unhealthy choices, such as getting tattoos and eating doughnuts?

And thereby Mr. Obama’s plan really will ultimately put government officials (however well meaning) in complete charge of every aspect of our lives. The government will literally decide who lives and who dies.

Forget for the moment the untold cost to taxpayers that Mr. Obama’s changes will wreak. Forget the damage they will do to the economy. Forget the undoubtedly new high levels of corruption, fraud and general waste that will ensue.

In view of that one simple and stark fact – that government would wield such power – it is no wonder that people would bridle at the thought of this blatant and unnecessary takeover of so much of our lives.

Health-care and AGW with it’s Cap and Trade make excellent vehicles for implementation of undemocratic, anti-democratic governance. Reason will not counter this movement, its dogma or its zelots. It and they are irretrievable. Many of us know that implementation of their leftist programs will damage our traditional society beyond repair–that is their goal.

How do we stop them? Can we reach those who are retrievable?

  3. BannedbytheTaliban says:

The concept of healthcare reform is a Trojan horse. This will ultimately be just another excuse to expand the power of the federal government and diminish the sovereignty of the states. Which is why I think it is perfectly acceptable to hyperbolize things like “death panels” to get people who don’t understand the pitfalls of big government against this or any bill aimed at seizing more power for the federal government. This country was founded as a collection of strong individuals with little governance. That concept has been slowly eroded away in every aspect of America since its inception. It was never intended that the government of this country would ever mandate or force anything upon the people of this country, nor should they ever be allowed to do so. No matter what bill passes, and they will pass a bill, it will be in the mold of every other Democratic boondoggle, it will be a huge unfunded liability that grows the power of the federal government.

As far as your concern SG about paying for the bill, Obama will just raise taxes on the wealthiest 1% of Americans. Because the democratic voters think they are entitled not only to health care, but to other people’s money. Money they did not earn nor do they deserve (and that can be interpreted many ways depending on point of view).

  4. proreason says:

    Spot on Steve.

There can only be a handful of reasons for such a massive change to health care:
    1. they truly believe the costs will bankrupt the nation
    2. they truly believe that the uninsured constitute a national disaster
    3. they truly believe that the state of medicine is a national disaster
    4. they truly believe the government should control the intimate details of our lives

But the first three reasons are easily debunked.
    1. if medical costs continue to rise as a % of the GDP, then people will simply stop paying them. Moreover, there are so many simple cost saving measures, that it is laughable. Tort Reform, High Deductable Policies, Inter-state competition, mandatory insurance, enforcing payback plans for illegal aliens and all but the most poor, etc.
    2. everybody knows the 47 million uninsured number is bogus and that the true number of poor uninsured citizens is about 10 million. They can be insured for a pittance of what Death Care will cost the nation
    3. “health care crisis” is now laughably debunked as well. People spend huge amounts to come to the US to get the best medical care in the world.

So the reason for the biggest change to America’s way of life since the great World Wars, as Steve says, is power, pure and simple. Our criminal elected officials are not satisfied to live in luxury as they ignore the peoples’ wishes and cram their elitest isms down our throats…..they will only be satisfied to control us with the actual power of life and death.

Maybe the correct analogy with the Nazis is to equate our crimiinal political class to the Nazi regime, with the American People playing the role of appeasement-oriented Europe.

The Con Artists are relentless in their quest to rule every aspect of our lives. They demand we subjugate ourselves to their will.

We tried to appease them with the Depression Stimulus, but it wasn’t enough. They annexed the Sudetanland by doubling the deficit. They invaded Poland with Cap and Tax. Now with the Death Care Bill, they move with force against Holland and France. England will be next with a blitzkrieg of takeovers and new government control.

      They can’t be appeased.

I’m not kidding when I say the impact of acceding to their will will be nothing short of the Nazis taking over all of Western Europe.

They have to be massively defeated, followed by Neuremberg trials. I would stop short of executions, but imprison most of them for life in maximum security prisons. Drooling Barney, however, should have free rein to visit each one of them in their cells.

    • Right of the People says:

Excellent points Pro. The first item is an example of one of my pet peeves and that is the subject of Lobby’s or as I call them, legal bribery. I’ve been for making them illegal and putting severe penalties on anyone who tries to bribe a public official. Until we get the slimeballs who give the congresscritters gobs and gobs of money and other perks like vacations at resorts, Superbowl tickets, etc. you’ll never be able to pass any meaningful legislation to rid us of crap like tort lairs and their ilk. That and enforcing a real illegal immigration policy would go miles to putting the country on it feet again. Getting rid of groups like ACORN who are as bad if not worse than lobbyists would help too.

Unfortunately probably the only way to get a law passed banning lobbies would be a complete flushing of congress and replacing them with term-limited, real people who want to do the job and go home.

  5. canary says:

Well, I recall Obama feeling Google made too much, so was this trade off.
This is abuse of power. This is Cuba type health care.

  6. BillK says:

Of course reading the editorial section of left-wing papers like the Denver Post is frightening, filled with letters such as this one:

I am startled by the venomous protests concerning the health care package. I just looked over the House plan, and as a health care user I have to ask, what’s not to like? It expands Medicare to cover the drug doughnut hole, it provides new coverages, eliminates the pre-existing-condition problems, and generally provides a much better system than is in place now.

If I was a health insurer, I would hate it, as it will reduce profitability. How to pay for it? If I can go on the public plan, at a reasonable premium, I will drop my horrible private plan, save money and then not mind some kind of tax increase because I will be able to afford it.

And putting in a provision to pay for end-of-life counseling is hardly a “death panel”; it is a needed service we certainly could have used in regards to my mother who died of Alzheimer’s.

    Read it yourselves; it’s online.

We have – that’s why the protests are growing.

But really, the protests are but a distraction as, in the end, most Americans think like the idiot above.

They don’t care as long as they get their freebies.

We’re doomed to fail because in the end, too many are willing to toe the Government line, and after all, NBC told them we’re all loons.

    • Rusty Shackleford says:

Liberals often fail to drink from the “no free lunch” watering hole. Oddly, I have run into a lot of people who go through life without a care and “things just work out”. I am not one of those people. Someone told me once it’s because “people expect more out of you, so they watch you with a more critical eye” and I wonder, if such is the case with liberals, that the rest of society truly does NOT expect much from them and when theybecome aware of this, they realize they can get away with much more without any penalty attached.

And so it goes. And perhaps that’s why conservatives get flamed for things that on the libeal side are just accepted as “business as usual”.

I dunno. I still want to read/hear what behavioralists would say about it.

    • TwilightZoned says:

Let’s not forget the zero liability voters. Those who pay no taxes. They could care less if taxes increase, other than to get those that do pay taxes to give them even more of what they don’t deserve for free (at least that’s what they think). We all know this mentality will lead to unsustainable services-social security, national health care, etc-as more and more of the population slides into poverty. What morons or just selfish self-centered people we have in this country. Obviously, they do not know the British middle class live on the same level as our poor.

  7. Helena says:

Ultimately, however, the single most important change being considered is the plan to put the White House in charge of deciding how much Medicare/Medicaid will be reimbursed and which procedures will be allowed.

(Even the White House chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, has admitted that this is by far the most important and least discussed aspect to Mr. Obama’s plan.)

It may be a minor point, but the legislative branch is letting the White House grab the ultimate power over Medicare/-aid. Representatives elected by the people will have no say, loyalists appointed by the President will be in charge of our health care. They really want us all to grovel to a king.

  8. proreason says:

Health Care is stealing resources from the Arts!!

At least, according to Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel — who is the health-policy adviser at the White House Office of Management and Budget and a member of the Federal Coordinating Council for Comparative Effectiveness Research,

    From Emmett Tyrrell:

” Savor this one, from the Journal of the American Medical Association in May 2007: “Too much money spent on health care reduced the ability to obtain other essentials of human life as well as some goods and services not essential to life but still of great value, such as education, vacations, and the arts.” Yes, he said “vacations and the arts.” So once we have Obamacare and you are sitting around waiting for a hip replacement or a CT scan, remember that tax revenues are being better spent on vacations or perhaps the performance art of that lady who smothers chocolate on her naked body.”

    Greedy granny. Greedy greedy granny.

Excellent summary of the House Death Care Bill:

A few items that caught my eye:

    – Sec. 123, Pg. 30 – THERE WILL BE A GOVERNMENT COMMITTEE deciding what treatments and benefits you get.
    – Sec. 152, Pg. 50-51 – HC will be provided to ALL NON-US citizens.
    – Sec. 163, Pg. 58-59 beginning at line 5 – Government will have real-time access to individual’s finances & a National ID health care card will be issued!
    – Sec. 164, Pg. 65 is a payoff subsidized plan for retirees and their families in unions & community organizations (ACORN).
    – Sec. 205, Pg. 95, Lines 8-18 – The government will use groups (i.e., ACORN & AmeriCorps) to “inform and educate” (sign up) individuals for government plan.
    – Sec. 223, Pg. 124, Lines 24-25 – No company can sue the government for price-fixing. No “administrative of judicial review” against a government monopoly.
    – Sec. 225, Pg. 127, Lines 1-16 – Doctors – the government will tell YOU what you can make. “The Secretary shall provide for the annual participation of physicians under the public health insurance option
    – Sec. 401.59B, Pg. 167, Lines 18-23 – ANY individual who does not have acceptable care, according to government, will be taxed 2.5% of income.
    – Sec. 59B, Pg. 170, Line 1 – Any NONRESIDENT alien is exempt from individual taxes. (Americans will pay for their health care.)
    – Sec. 1156, Pg. 317, Lines 13-20 – “PROHIBITION on physician ownership or Investment.” Government tells doctors what/how much they can own.
    – Sec. 1308, Pg. 489 – The government will cover Marriage and Family therapy. This will involve government control of your marriage.
    – Sec. 1401, Pg. 503, Lines 13-19 – The government will build registries and data networks from YOUR electronic medical records. “The Center may secure directly from any department or agency of the United States information necessary to enable it to carry out this section.”
    – Sec. 1501 (beginning), Pg. 659-670 – Doctors in Residency – government will tell you where your residency will be, thus where you’ll live.
    – Sec. 1651, Pg. 734, Lines 16-25 – Proposes, for law enforcement sake, that the Secretary of HHS will give Attorney General access to ALL medical data.Sec. 440, Pg. 837-839 – The government will design and implement Home Visitation Program for families with young kids and families that are expecting children.
    – Sec. 1904, Pg. 843-844 – This Home Visitation Program includes the government coming into your house and teaching/telling you how to parent!
    – Sec. 2251, Pg. 915 – Government MANDATES cultural and linguistic competency training for HC professionals

    That’s just a sample.

    Beyond stunning.

So much of my life has been used up thinking through and acting on ways to stay out of associations … income tax, political parties, FAMILY, utilities, most insurance, registrations, sequestering my personal information ….

I’m tired. Not too tired to go another round, but GD’it I’m tired.

No wonder monks go hide in caves in the mountains and contemplate their belly buttons.

One of my co-workers, a lady who is a raging dem, tried to tell me it’s the insurance companies who are spreading all of these filthy lies about Obamacare, feeding that misinformation to us dummies on the right who cannot possibly think for ourselves.

While I do have to agree that the insurance companies are on as big a power trip as Obama (as far as denying coverage, dropping coverage and suddenly raising premiums, perhaps in the hope you’ll leave …). I reminded her that under this *new* system, her vibrant 80+ years young mother would not have been given a corrective heart valve surgery six months ago—she’d have been given morphine for the pain and told to toughen up and get her affairs in order.

She utterly does not believe that is true.

  12. bagsthatspeak says:

Great article. The wastefulness is always there and the arrogance is just too much to bare. What I am ultimately concerned about is the attack on our freedoms.

  13. proreason says:

From David Axelrod’s disinformation email, with my responses:

“8 ways reform provides security and stability to those with or without coverage

Ends Discrimination for Pre-Existing Conditions: Insurance companies will be prohibited from refusing you coverage because of your medical history.”
    – yep. No reason to buy insurance now until you need it. Just wait until you get sick. Spend your money on rap music and drugs instead (until we fine you for doing that).

“Ends Exorbitant Out-of-Pocket Expenses, Deductibles or Co-Pays: Insurance companies will have to abide by yearly caps on how much they can charge for out-of-pocket expenses.”
    – exactly. and we all know everybody will be very judicious about demanding tests and services when such incremental work will be “free”

“Ends Cost-Sharing for Preventive Care: Insurance companies must fully cover, without charge, regular checkups and tests that help you prevent illness, such as mammograms or eye and foot exams for diabetics.”
    – “without charge” – courtesy of your government. Next up: “without charge” gasoline, food, shelter…..until greedy rich people run out of money, of course.

“Ends Dropping of Coverage for Seriously Ill: Insurance companies will be prohibited from dropping or watering down insurance coverage for those who become seriously ill.”
    – boy those insurance companies are really dastardly. Your trusty government will handle that problem by refusing the medical services in the first place.

“Ends Gender Discrimination: Insurance companies will be prohibited from charging you more because of your gender.”
    – no longer will the monumental problem of gender discrimination in medical care be the topic of conversation at every social gathering.

“Ends Annual or Lifetime Caps on Coverage: Insurance companies will be prevented from placing annual or lifetime caps on the coverage you receive.”
    – this is really really good news for Aids victims, drug abusers, smokers and alchoholics. All others can feel good about forcing really rich people to pay for these unpreventable diseases.

“Extends Coverage for Young Adults: Children would continue to be eligible for family coverage through the age of 26.”
    – because hey, in the sweet bosum of your trustworthy government, you never really become an adult. And besides, we want to guarantee the youth vote for our Marxist agenda.

“Guarantees Insurance Renewal: Insurance companies will be required to renew any policy as long as the policyholder pays their premium in full. Insurance companies won’t be allowed to refuse renewal because someone became sick.”
    – and when we can find somebody who was dropped because they became sick, I’ll send another email to you

And amazing as it seems……all of this will be done and still the cost of medical care will be REDUCED. And you silly people were beginning to doubt the divinity of Lord President Obama.

Later in the email, Axelfuhrer has the gall to say this “Your Medicare is safe, and stronger with reform”…..despite the 1/2 Trillion dollars they plan to save by cutting doctors fees. The word-smithing must mean this…”Your Medicare program is safe since we know we would be catrated if we didn’t say that…..it’s YOU who will die younger because of us cutting the budget drastically. But enjoy your end-of-life counselling.”.

No lie is too great for these criminals to hiss out.

  14. proreason says:

Top 15 things you have to believe to think Universal Death Care will be good for you.
    1. The same government that runs Medicare, Medicaid, the Post Office and Cash for Clunkers can run a program 3 times as big efficiently.
    2. The same government that has doubled the deficit in 6 months will eliminate the 54 Trillion unfunded liability for Medicare while simultaneously tripling covered lives.
    3. Insurance companies are pure evil and have to be eliminated by the government.
    4. Doctors are pure evil and have to be controlled by the government.
    5. Government is better at running things than private industry.
    6. Health care will not be rationed, even though every other government- run health care system ever created rations health care.
    7. You will have more choices with a government run system than the 1300 companies that currently provide health insurance.
    8. Medical decisions can be made better by bureaucrats looking at databases than your doctor looking at you.
    9. Doctors currently serving 250 million people can provide better service to 300 million people just because the government dictates it.
    10. The cream of society will continue to want to become doctors even though their income will be reduced, their mobility will be reduced, their interactions with patients will be controlled, their workloads will increase and they will be forbidden from using their knowledge to create clinics and other income-producing businesses.
    11. Pharmaceutical companies will continue to develop life-saving drugs, even though their income will be reduced by the government.
    12. National health-care costs will decrease even though more than 50% of the country (+ illegal immigrants) will pay nothing for medical services.
    13. Medicare will operate better than today, even though funding will be cut by 500 billion while Medicare rolls increase by 30%.
    14. Mandatory end of life counseling will not be used to encourage seniors to forego late-life medical care.
    15. A Surtax on America’s1% of millionaires can pay for anything and everything congress wants for 100% of the population.

    16. The tooth fairy loves you.

  15. canary says:

GetBackJack, (sign) you’re not alone. Checked the news this morning, and just sunk to my knees on the floor and rested the rest of me on the couch. and leanedrested my head on the couch. and prayed. Usually, I’m a pray as I go, person. Felt better. Ignorance is bliss they say. I think if someone can live til their death with that the sun is shining happy face way, they are lucky. I’m not giving up. If the Obommies want to take away the U.S. of America, I want to know that I didn’t give up. Sometimes you can’t stop someone from skrewing you. But, it helps you feel better, to let them know, that you know, they know, they are doing just that.

ProReason , has to take credit today for being the messenger of bad tidings, to warn just how close we are on the brink of communism. It’s important to know our enemies. and I’d just really like to know how all these Obommies came up with this so fast and their urgency in passing it, when we do not have sick and dying people in the streets, do to lack of health-care. It’s because they want the largest government in American history, their relatives, friends, celebrities, donars, media, their generations to come, to be in the imperial class of Obommies that can live in luxery, ignorance and bliss, on the backs of Americans. I’d hate to be the one with the vote that may lead to that.

And this is going to wipe out alot of bills, and have major impact on Supreme Court Decisions.

Always remember, what ever Obama say, he does the opposite. If this health bill is passed, it will be the mother of all Trojan Horses. Ya know. I think Obama’s made a Freudian Slip x 2. A virus “horse” that will spread and cause destruction. And a bad, bad, “horse” the bible talks about during tribulation.

  16. Reality Bytes says:

“We need to make smart decisions about Grandma.”

Hey Moron! When it came time, I made that decision for my Dad who couldn’t for himself. It was between me, my father & Our God. OBAMA DIDN’T HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH IT!!!

  17. proreason says:

What is the Health Scare really about. Certainly not improving Health Care. There are dozens, perhaps hundreds of ways to improve medical and insurance practices without blowing up the existing system. One laughably simple example is to agressively prosecute and imprison Medicare cheats. A few highly publicized cases would reduce the costs of Medicare by tens of billions of dollars annually.

Here is what I think the effort is really all about. You won’t be surprised:

    – Increase government power (take over another 20% of the economy)
    – Purchase votes and create a permanent socialist majority (Hispanics)
    – Bust achievers who have the means to threaten government power. (medical professionals and businesses)
    – Increase taxation (so other entrepreneurs can never again use economic success to challenge government’s power)
    – Punish / redistribute wealth to flatten society and make people dependent and powerless (by forcing achievers to pay for deadbeats’ health care)
    – Separate the statist elite class from the serf class (by creating a two-class health care system)

Ultimately, its all about reversing our Free Market Republic where everybody willing to work has the chance to live a good life, and replacing it with a Big government / Statist / Socialist system where a handful of Commisars live in luxury and absolutely control the population.

The Health Scare and everything else the Moron’s Cabal are doing are simply means to that end.
