Hillary Hires Harry Reid’s Son For Campaign

From a delighted Washington Post:

While Reid Stays Out of ’08 Fray, Sen. Clinton Signs His Son

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (Nev.) has pledged not to pick among his many friends running for the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination, choosing instead to focus his time and energy on making Nevada’s new early caucus as successful as possible.

With Reid not committing, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (N.Y.) found the next-best thing — signing his eldest son, Rory, as both the chair of her campaign in the Silver State and an adviser on Western issues.

Rory Reid currently serves as the chairman of the Clark County Commission — that’s Las Vegas’s county — and is a past chairman of the Nevada state party. He is the only one of Reid’s four sons in elected office

Feeding at the public trough is a Reid family tradition.

Certainly being the chairman of the county commission where dad is running his shady million dollar land deals has got to be very handy for everybody involved.

But oddly enough Rory Reid’s official commissioner biography fails to mention that he is the son of one of Nevada’s senators:

Commissioner Rory Reid

Biography

Clark County Commissioner Rory Reid was raised in the Las Vegas Valley. Prior to Rory’s election to the Commission, he was active in government and his community. He was appointed to the Nevada Taxicab Authority by Governor Bob Miller and served as Vice Chair. Rory served as a member of the Clark County Citizens Committee on Efficiency in Government and was a legislative aide in the United States House of Representatives. Rory has also served on the boards of various civic and charitable organizations.

Rory was elected to the County Commission in 2002 to serve Commission District G. Rory was re-elected on November 7, 2006, to another four-year term. In January 2005, Rory was appointed by his colleagues as County Commission Chairman. Rory was re-elected by his colleagues on January 2, 2007, and will again serve as Commission Chairman.

Las Vegas Life Magazine recently named Rory “Best Up and Coming Politician” in Southern Nevada.

Commissioner Reid was chosen by his fellow commissioners to serve in the following capacities:

*Criminal Justice Advisory Commission
*Southern Nevada Health District
*Southern Nevada Water Authority
*Las Vegas Valley Water District
*Metropolitan Police Committee on Fiscal Affairs
*Local Law Enforcement Advisory Committee
*Nevada Development Authority

As Chairman of the Commission, Rory has championed the comprehensive reform of the county’s planning process and growth management policies. Rory is also proud of the parks and recreation projects that have been constructed in District G since his election including the new Whitney Recreation Center, improvements to the Paradise Recreation Center, the Paradise Children’s Dental Clinic and various other park projects.

Rory has long been active in his community. He has donated his time to numerous local, state and national political campaigns. He previously served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Las Vegas Natural History Museum, the Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth, and the local council of the Boy Scouts of America.

Rory and his wife Cindy are the proud parents of three children.

Perhaps we aren’t supposed to know. But surely it’s as significant a fact as that he once served on the local council of the Boy Scouts.

Especially since his father is so famous for his open and honest leadership. (Apart from the aforementioned shady million dollar land deals.)

Anyway, it’s surprising Rory Reid didn’t manage to "endorse" Hillary before the news of his hiring leaked out.

Somebody slipped up.
