Hillary: Rich Don’t Invest In Schools, Hospitals

From the New York Times:

Tax Policy, Briefly, Is a Laughing Matter

By JOHN H. CUSHMAN JR. | Monday Sept 24, 2012

As a matter of protocol, the secretary of state usually steers clear of electoral politics. But Hillary Rodham Clinton drew knowing laughs from an audience in New York on Monday when she said a few words — in an international context, mind you — about tax policy.

“One of the issues that I have been preaching about around the world is collecting taxes in an equitable manner, especially from the elites in every country,” she said during a talk at the annual meeting of the Clinton Global Initiative.

This from a woman who used to take $2 tax deductions on Bill’s used underwear to avoid paying her ‘fair share.’ And that was just the beginning of their tax contortions. (See below.)

Given the amount of attention the income-redistribution meme has been receiving in the presidential race, the line was guaranteed to amuse.

“You know, I’m out of American politics,” she went on, drawing more laughter and applause, “but it is a fact that around the world, the elites of every country are making money.

“There are rich people everywhere,” she said. “And yet they do not contribute to the growth of their own countries. They don’t invest in public schools, public hospitals, in other kinds of development internally.”

Really? Then who pays the taxes that build the schools and hospitals and the other ‘internal developments’?

In context, it was clear that she was talking about the situation in developing countries, where not only tax inequity but also corruption and other forms of inequality are widely seen as barriers to prosperity…

BS. She wasn’t talking about other countries, or she wouldn’t have made the disclaimer about being "out of American politics."

Besides, the Secretary Of State should avoid talking about the corruption of rulers in other countries when she is sending them billions. She should also avoid discussing corruption in general when her name is Hillary Clinton.

Meanwhile, as we noted back in February 2007, there was this item from the Washington Post:

Clintons’ Charity Not Listed On Senate Disclosure Forms

By John Solomon and Matthew Mosk
Tuesday, February 27, 2007; A01

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton and former president Bill Clinton have operated a family charity since 2001, but she failed to list it on annual Senate financial disclosure reports on five occasions

The foundation has enabled the Clintons to write off more than $5 million from their taxable personal income since 2001…

Clinton’s spokesman said her failure to report the existence of the family foundation and the senator’s position as an officer was an oversight

The charity is separate from the New York-based William J. Clinton Foundation, which has directed $10 billion in corporate money and resources toward slowing the global spread of AIDS, addressing climate change, and reducing hunger and poverty in developing countries.

The smaller family foundation lists as its address a post office box in Chappaqua, N.Y., where the Clintons live. Hillary Clinton is listed as secretary and treasurer, Bill Clinton as president and the couple’s daughter, Chelsea, as a director…

The charity has been funded with money from lucrative book deals for both Clintons and from speechmaking by Bill Clinton since they left the White House in 2001…

How many schools and hospitals could have been funded by the taxes on $5 million dollars? And who knows how many more millions of dollars of income have been sheltered by it since 2007?

In 1917 a leader arose who convinced the Russians that they were being oppressed by “the rich.”

In the 1930s another leader arose who convinced the Germans that a certain segment of the population was responsible for the country’s problems.

In Russia and Germany those citizens were rounded up and their wealth seized. Untold numbers died.

When a democrat does it, it is an ‘oversight’. But, Romney? Well, now THERE’S a cheater. That guy’ll do anything to get elected. Grab your torch and pitchfork!
Leftists…do as I say, not as I do.

Take a walk around New York Presbyterian Hospital in Manhattan and observe how every building, pavilion, department, hallway and floor is named after some rich benefactor.
Weill Cornell Medical College, Greenberg Pavilion, Starr Pavilion, Helmsley Medical Tower, Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital… The list is too large to post here, but you would be hard pressed to find a doorknob or light switch that doesn’t have somebody’s name on it.
This is the same hospital where Bill Clinton had his heart surgery.
    What is named after him?

      And another thing. “Developing countries”.

Please. You’re making my head hurt. Sometimes the borders change faster than people can print new globes. Others are so ancient (Egypt anyone?) that I think to refer to them as “developing” would be an oxymoron, like calling an octogenarian a “developing athlete”.

Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Iran, Libya are dying nations and the only thing that keeps them alive is foreign money. If I was a first year intern at a hospital, I would have no problem declaring them deceased. Indeed, they are sterling examples of how nations die. With tyranny, despotism, severe class division and the government as the church.

      “Developing nations”—-PHAGH!
