Hillary Will Speak On Syria! (You Will Bow Down)

From the Politico:

Hillary Clinton to speak on Syria

By MAGGIE HABERMAN | September 8, 2013

Hillary Clinton will make her first public remarks about Syria on Monday when she makes a visit to the White House for an unrelated event, a Clinton aide told POLITICO.

Someone please start the countdown clock. Still, you know Obama is struggling to sell his attack on Syria to the American people when he has to roll out the big gams guns like Hillary.

But why not use Bill? Oh, that’s right, he’s busy selling Obama-Care. (Besides, his rate is around $700,000 a speech. Hillary’s is only $200,000.)

The comments, the first since an unidentified aide said last week that the former Secretary of State supports President Obama in going before Congress to get support for a limited strike against Syria, will come after she meets privately with Obama at the White House, the aide said.

She will then appear at an event related to wildlife preservation at the White House, an event where her daughter, Chelsea, is part of the program. Clinton is expected to address Syria at the beginning of the event, in fairly brief remarks, the aide said.

We’re thinking she might shriek something like: ‘With all due respect, the fact is we had 14 hundred dead Syrians. Was it because of my reformer friend, Bashar Assad, or was it because of some rebels out for a walk one night who decided that they’d they go kill some Syrians? What difference at this point does it make?"

She’s expected to make longer remarks generally, but to stick with her Monday comments on Syria, the following evening, when she gives a speech at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia, where former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush will be honoring her.

For her dedication to the Constitution, of course.

Her speech, however, is not expected to be a dissertation on Syria. Nor will it be so about the NSA, which had been expected to be the original topic.

She must be glad to have dodged that sniper fire bullet.

The speech is likely to be a mixture of themes. It will fall about an hour before Obama addresses the nation to present his case for Syria.

She’s his warm up act.

Still, the comments will make Clinton the highest-profile supporter of Obama’s plan to speak publicly. And it comes at a pivotal moment for him – he is having trouble selling the plan to the House so far – and also for her, in her first remarks on potential intervention overseas since she left Foggy Bottom.

If the Syria move happens and is limited, and doesn’t cost American lives, most political observers believe it will be relatively cost-free for Clinton to have supported it should she run in 2016…

Isn’t there a soupçon irony here? A significant reason that Hillary didn’t win the Democrat nomination back in 2008 was because of her early support for the US invasion of Iraq. And yet the very same people who defeated her back then are now calling on her to support Obama’s attack on Syria.

Meanwhile, speaking of those people, here is a report on the token resistance, via the Associated Press:

Liberal group urges opposition to Syria strike

SEPTEMBER 8, 2013

WASHINGTON (AP) — A new TV ad that urges Congress to oppose U.S. military strikes against Syria underscores the difficulty President Barack Obama is having in getting liberals to support him.

The 30-second ad paid for by the liberal activist group MoveOn.org says the U.S. didn’t set out to spend eight years at war in Iraq and a decade in Afghanistan and predicts the same thing will happen if Congress approves military action in Syria. The ad concludes by telling Congress, "Don’t lead us down this road again." Viewers are urged to call Congress to voice opposition.

Gee, how strident, huh? Where is the call for impeachment, or worse?

MoveOn says the ad will air this week on MSNBC, with a heavier rotation around Obama’s address to the nation on Tuesday night. The group is spending in the "mid five figures" to air the ad.

"Mid five figures" is not much money. It doesn’t sound like their hearts are in it. Something tells us that if Bush were still in the White House, they would be spending more than a measly $25,000 dollars.

  1. “Don’t lead us down this road again.” Viewers are urged to call Congress to voice opposition.\

These aren’t liberals. They’re racists. We’ve seen it before. We all know that if you go against Obama, you’re a racist. It’s got nothing to do with policy, it’s racism pure and simple. Will the DOJ begin investigations of Moveon.org? Where is the NAACP? I’m sure the NSA will be keeping an eye on those evil racists at Moveon. They’d better hope nobody listens to their racist ad.

WHY CAN’T THEY JUST LEAVE BRITTNEY… I mean OBAMA ALONE?… [sob... sniffle...]

  2. I’m beginning to feel like a man suffering through an unsolicited colonoscopy …

  3. “MoveOn says the ad will air this week on MSNBC…..”

    So, nobody will see it.

  4. Right of the People

All this over only 1400 Mooselimbs? That’s not even a good start. We should erect a twenty-five foot high barbed wire fence around the entire middle east and let them fight it out amonst themselves.
