Hillary Minions Spin Latest Waitress Stiffing

In case you haven’t heard, the Hillary “Middle Class Express” stiffed a waitress in Iowa the other day. The incident was first reported by those notorious rightwing conspirators at National Public Radio.

The report has caused such a stir that Hillary’s latest (as of this hour) propaganda site is feverishly trying to spin (read “lie”) their way out of it.

From the hilariously named Fact Hub:

Fact Check: Bill Paid, Tip Left At Iowa Maid-Rite

Today, NPR reported that when Hillary and the campaign visited a Maid-Rite diner in Iowa, no one left a tip:

Clinton may have decided not to tip. She was also never given a bill — her meal was on the house.

Both of those claims are false. Here’s the manager of Maid-Rite:

The manager of the of the restaurant tells First Read the Clinton campaign did, in fact, tip. “They paid their bill, and they left a tip,” said Brad Crawford, manager of the Maid Rite restaurant in Toledo, Iowa. “Everybody was satisfied. No question about it.”

The bill was about $157 and the tip was $100.

UPDATE: NPR has updated their report.

The manager quoted above wasn’t even on the restaurant’s premises on the day in question.

But indeed NPR have updated their report, and it would seem that the Clinton camp are still lying:

Clinton Campaign Says It Tipped Maid-Rite Waitress

by Renee Montagne and David Greene

Morning Edition, November 9, 2007

… Esterday, speaking to NPR from home later Thursday, said the Clinton campaign staffer who visited the diner apologized to her and said a $100 tip was left on a credit card the day of Clinton’s visit. Esterday said the staff member said the money was meant to be shared.

“I explained to her that our credit card machine, you know, doesn’t add on the tip,” Esterday said. “And she said, ‘Well, then, they left a $100 bill there.’ And I said, ‘Well, it didn’t get divided up amongst us, because I had gotten nothing.’

“She just said, ‘Well, there was one left,'” Esterday said. “She just kept repeating, ‘There was one left.’

After the campaign staffer stopped at the diner Thursday, Esterday said, the $100 tip was a hot topic.

Two others that had worked with me that day turned around and said, ‘We didn’t know about any $100 tip,’ because they both turned around and said ‘We didn’t get a part of it.’ And they didn’t. So, it’s like ‘OK, where did it go?’ That’s the mystery question: Where did it go?

Esterday said it would surprise her if money that was intended to be split among the staff was never shared.

The ladies that were working that day have been working there for years — some of them for 30 years, some of them for 25 years,” Esterday said. “And I’ve known a lot of these ladies most of my life living here, too. And I can’t imagine them pocketing it.” …

Let’s see. Who should we believe? Hillary Clinton’s band of professional liars, or these waitresses?

And speaking of professional liars, it’s hard to see how Hillary needs her “Fact Hub” site when she already has her 501c3 “charity” Media Matters.

Their exegesis on this event is downright hilarious. It boils down to feigned outraged at so much media coverage for such a petty story when there is a war on.

As if there could ever be anything more important to discuss than the doings of Mrs. Bill Clinton.

For when has MM ever thought so?

(And of course this isn’t the first time that Hillary has neglected to tip a little person.)
