Hispanic Networks Don’t Ask Obama About Verdict

From the Politico:

Hispanic networks skip Zimmerman in Obama interviews

By DYLAN BYERS | July 16, 2013

Leading Hispanic television networks Univision and Telemundo were granted two interviews apiece with President Obama today, but not one interviewer asked the president a question about the verdict in the George Zimmerman trial, according to transcripts and sources familiar with the interviews.

Maybe Univision and Telemundo don’t realize that George Zimmerman is Hispanic. Or maybe they don’t want to cater to white Hispanics. Or, more likely, Obama told them the verdict was off limits.

And who can blame Obama for wanting pre-conditions? Remember how he was ‘blind-sided’ when those two journalists from Univision had the temerity to ask him questions about ‘Fast & Furious,’ back in September of 2012? Obama is not about to let something like that happen again.

The four interviews were intended to focus on immigration reform, but the absence of any inquiry related to the high-profile court case surprised even the White House.

"The President was prepared to answer questions on [the Zimmerman verdict] and any other topic," White House press secretary Jay Carney told POLITICO while confirming that there were no preconditions for the interviews.

Which is just further proof that Obama demanded and got pre-conditions. Given Mr. Carney’s track record.

Television industry executives also expressed surprise: "It’s unbelievable that any journalist with access to the President this week wouldn’t ask the first African-American president about his reaction to the verdict," said one D.C.-based executive.

Instead, the interviewers focused on immigration reform, giving President Obama the opportunity to tout the economic benefits of reform and to criticize House Republicans for opposing the immigration bill on political grounds…

In other words, Obama made sure they stuck to his push for amnesty. So he could spout his whoppers about how good 11 million plus amnestizos will be for the US economy.

  1. Univision and Telemundo. Now there’s some white hispanics.
