Homosexuals Mad At Obama Pastor Pick

From a conflicted Associated Press:

Obama’s choice of evangelical pastor draws ire

WASHINGTON – Gay rights advocates are criticizing President-elect Barack Obama’s choice of a popular evangelical minister to deliver the invocation at his inauguration, saying it shows disrespect for a constituency that strongly supported his campaign.

Pastor Rick Warren, a best-selling author and leader of a Southern California megachurch, is one of a new breed of evangelicals who stress the need for action on social issues such as reducing poverty and protecting the environment, alongside traditional theological themes. But the Human Rights Campaign, the nation’s largest gay rights organization, said Warren’s opposition to gay marriage is a sign of intolerance.

"We feel a deep level of disrespect when one of the architects and promoters of an anti-gay agenda is given the prominence and the pulpit of your historic nomination," the group said in a letter to Obama, asking him to reconsider

Gay rights advocates say they are troubled by Warren’s support for a California ballot initiative banning gay marriage, approved by voters last month. "By inviting Rick Warren to your inauguration, you have tarnished the view that gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender Americans have a place at your table," the letter said.

Homosexuals have a lot in common with our “Islamic extremists.”

Just about everything seems to tick them off.

Meanwhile, where was the outrage when Mr. Obama was going to have the Reverend Doctor Jeremiah R. Wright, Jr. give the invocation at the announcement of his Presidential bid?

(Of course Mr. Obama eventually revoked the invitation, thanks to our posts about the Reverend here at S&L.)

Here is a sign of intolerance from the same sex violaters………violent disregard for majority rule!!

    • If this isn’t an indicator of how the left thinks Christians should be treated in the public sphere, people are really, really stupid.

What about a “place at the table” for people who believe marriage is one man, one woman or who are pro-life? Where is the diversity of religious belief?

They hate us, and don’t want us to have any freedom or job or public recognition whatsoever. “Tolerance”, indeed.

First off, I am a long time reader (thanks for Rush) and first time poster. It is great to have a site like this, that shares the same political views as I do.

I wonder when the people that thought that Obama was behind are finally going to realize that he’s not. He just used a tactic that politicians do where they let you think they are behind you until they get elected, then they turn the tables. We’ve known this about him all along, too bad they couldn’t see it.

  3. proreason says:

Why stop with letting the homosexuals dictate public policy?

Child molestors have rights too. THEY should be setting the public policy, because they are an even more aggrieved minority. And what about Satanists and beastialty lovers…..why isn’t their voice heard?

But then again, maybe I don’t completely understand the value of this aggrieved minority business.

It begs the question: “Why not seceed?” –No, not like that, but like the democrats do. They have completely taken over the east coast, and mostly the west coast. Why not just do the same thing? Take over the red states and from a sort of union or confederacy? Change the laws they way you want, and if you don’t like it? Move to another state. Support each other, send the homeless, drug abusers, pimps, whores, welfare recips, with one-way tickets to blue states (Massachusettes).

Relax gun laws, lower taxes, reduce government….what are we waiting for? Waiting to change liberals? Waiting to argue with them until we get the laws we want? –Forget it, time to move away, and move on with our lives. Support a conservative state, and ignore the federal mess. . .

Who really cares what the homos think or care about? I sure don’t.

  5. River says:

Imagine that! Shocking! Somebody who doesn’t agree with them and march lockstep being treated with deference and respect!

This just more proof that they don’t like democracy, true pluralism, or the foundation stones of the nation. This is a very dangerous bunch.

  6. Colonel1961 says:

I first thought the headline read ‘Obama Pastor Prick’, but the would be Rev. Wright…

  7. wardmama4 says:

The One ™ is taking it from all sides right now – talk about buyers remorse. Got the lemon home and actually saw the pos for what it is?!?

We warned you all – but no you all just heard Hope and Change and my all-time fav historic – and didn’t pay attention to the fact this pos came from the sleeziest, slimiest Pol Machine that makes the Clintons look like virtual pikers – and you still believed every, single thing this Typical Political Person said.

Now you got Clinton retreads and a guy who is connected to probably ever dirty deal in IL for the past decade – who needs a white pastor (Christian) from CA to help deflect his muslim heritage as he is sworn in as POTUS.

Now wouldn’t it just be a hoot for some left wing nutcase to be the one to off The One ™? Because The One ™ isn’t PC enough?!? I think it would make 4 years of Biden (and the absolute joy I would experience) worth it.

  8. VMAN says:

Frankly I think Warren should tell the O man to stick squarely up his butt (no pun intended). The big O is using him as a pawn to make evangelicals fell good about his O-ness . Well it doesn’t make me think more of the O it makes me think less of Warren.

  9. brad says:

Again, as I commented before, politicians ingratiate themselves with others all the time as lip service. Gay people are so stupid—it’s a stunt, a shallow gesture with no meaning behind it. Fear not, he is a total liberal through and through, but he can’t tell them it’s a stunt. (figure it out dummies!)

Clinton threw a bone to wavering moderates by signing the welfare reform act (pushed by gov. Tommy Thompson), not commuting a sentence to a criminal in Arkansas, and the don’t ask-don’t tell policy. All of those were forced upon him, but he was a true liberal non-the-less.

Hillary and the democrats won’t p*ss off a voting block, no matter how objectionable they are, they will throw them a bone sometime down the line.

  10. pinandpuller says:

Does Obama issue Warren his wolves’ clothing before or after the inagural?

  11. Barbie says:

Gay people should relax. As mentioned in several posts above, Obama will come to their rescue… this is just a put on so he appears to be more centrist – at least, until he’s firmly entrenched in power and then… Obama the Lib will come to their rescue..

  12. 11ten1775 says:

How much do you want to bet the Obama camp is leaning on Warren to issue a statement saying something nice to the gays? The one his office already issued is perfectly reasonable – to reasonable adults – not the crazed gays.
But, Obama can’t just leave this alone until after the inauguration, because he knows hell hath no furry like woman wannabe’s scorn. They’re still all hopped up about Prop 8, and then he reaches into their neighborhood and grabs a pastor who opposed them! Obama would look like a total pushover for dropping Warren now, so he’s got to get Warren to cave. Will he? Or will he get dropped at the last minute for someone more gay friendly?

  13. aze_216 says:

I think it’s an easy pick for obama. he doesn’t need the homo-sexual-lobby at this point since he’s been elected. they’ll get over it when he starts to
hand out goodies in the form of judge picks that will slowly but give them the ‘rights’ they’re whining about.

an interesting note, though – for all the platitudes and talking obama and his lovely wife make about giving back to the least, not being in business,
but doing community work – abhoring wealth.. blah blah… i heard today that Rick Warren ‘reverse-tithes’ – giving 90% of his income and keeping 10.
For all their talk the obamas don’t nearly live up to their words.

Could some of that rub off on obama?….. nah!… they’re all talk.

  14. 12 Gauge Rage says:

I knew there would come a time when not just the average person, but the minister as well would be criticized for practicing and following the scriptures of the Bible. I just didn’t think I would see it in my lifetime. One only needs to read the first chapter of the book of Romans to get an insight into the mindset of these militants.

  15. 11ten1775 says:

No, no, no, 12 Gauge. Remember? Romans 1 is obscure. Obama told us so. Stop believing all that “all scripture is the inspired Word of God” stuff. Get in line with Tony Campolo – only the red words count now, and Jesus never said homosexuality is wrong, unless you believe Jesus is God and that God wrote the Bible. But who would be crazy enough to believe that? Certainly not millions of people for a couple thousand years…

  16. Icarus says:

Only a depraved mind would contort what is naturally and logically self evident into a twisted way of life; simply to gratify a perverse sexual urge!

Notice I didn’t even need to bring God into it!

On another note: I personally get this feeling of uncertainty when it comes to R.Warren.
Can’t put my finger on it! Just keep in mind that for Satan to fool “multitudes” there has to be a large proportion of truth in the lie.

Also; there is plenty in the New Testament regarding sexual sin. But hey we know how the Lib’s twist the word. Omit, take out of context, etc, etc

Here is one they like to use (twist) all the time:

John 8:7 “So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.”
Yet they always seem to leave out the conclusion, John 8:11. “… And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more”

  17. Paulajay says:

Obama will move to appease the gays as soon as he’s in office by tossing out the “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy. In the early seventies the Catholic Church allowed openly gay men to serve as priests. We all saw how well THAT worked. Sadly, our Military will see the same effect. Over the years, more than 25 priests who have been in the military diocese have faced allegations of sexual misconduct. Recently an HIV positive Navy chaplain was sentenced to prison for rape of some of his “men”. This will only get worse. But Obama and the “left” abhor our Military, so what better way to destroy it??

  18. Icarus says:

Q: Did the rest of the apostles leave the Church that Jesus was establishing here on Earth in view of the fact that one of them betrayed the Lord? Did Jesus go back and start again because his inner circle was corrupted with the darkness of Judas?

If Satan himself sat as Pontiff, I would not leave the Church – because you see, it’s not any man or new dictum that I follow… but the recognized word of God alone, in celebration with the Eucharist, in communion with the body (the people) that makes up the Church.

Any denomination can (and all have had) evil scattered within them!

Had we stayed together as one church (No Schism, No Reformations) we would have ultimately overturned corrupt canon and in the end be strong in our Christian unanimity. It’s our divisions that have weakened us all!

Nevertheless, it is HIS will that it unfold this way!

Fox News is calling this man “America’s Pastor”.
He has a congregation of 75K+ …I guess that’d do it!?????? lol

    Re: Muslims, Gays, Atheists, etc…
    “We don’t have to see eye-to-eye to walk hand-in-hand” – R.Warren

Hmm… let’s see what the Lord says Rick.

Well the Pharisees, Sadducees, and many others didn’t see eye-to-eye with John the Baptist, or with Jesus himself….on various issues. They (John & The Lord) certainly didn’t walk hand-in-hand with them. Neither did any of the Prophets or Apostles walk hand-in-hand with those they did not see eye-to-eye with. They did though; rebuke them! (Gently or Otherwise) …and offered a way back.
We all know what that way is……….

I don`t trust this Warren guy.

On a side note: During the same broadcast… I found out Barney Frank is Gay… who’d of thunk it!!!!!!!

    • GuppyNblue says:

“I found out Barney Frank is Gay”
And had a gay lover working a Fannie Mae. And had a gay prostitution ring running at his DC apartment. The guy is pure slime.

    • proreason says:

gay and slime are compliments when it comes to Barney Fife.

He’s the person most responsible for the recent destruction of the economy. He is the Dem chair of the Banking Committee and fought off every attempt at regulating that criminal organization. He is probably responsible for the destruction of more wealth than any person in American history, and he may get into the second ten all-time, behind Hitler, Lenin, Stalin, Mao and various other historical dirtballs. Of course Barney Slimebag did it for a good cause….his aim was to take your money and give it to more deserving people….he calls them “his constituents”. We would call them “deadbeats”. As recently as July of this year, he was proudly touting that there were “no problems” with Fannie Mae and that it was a good investment. At that point the capital ratio was lower than any lending organization ever. What he meant, but wouldn’t say was that he expected the U.S. government to back the bad loans. So here we are…..unemployement heading over 10%, 20 Trillion in wealth poofed, people’s retirements ruined, teetering on a Depression….but Barney doesn’t care. He’s getting a pay increase!

He’s proud of his accomplishments. Like Bill Ayers, he wishes he could do more. Unlike Bill Ayers, since the monumental idiots in his district seem willing to re-elect him no matter what crimes he commits, he probably WILL be able to do more.

Personally, I’d like to get near him for just 5 seconds.

Just a little more fun, from the AP:

Rep. Frank Opposes Warren Invocation at Inauguration

Frank, who is openly gay, says it was a mistake to give such a high honor to a pastor who compared homosexuality to incest.

WASHINGTON — The first openly gay member of Congress said Sunday it was a mistake for President-elect Barack Obama to invite the Rev. Rick Warren to deliver the invocation at his inauguration.

“Mr. Warren compared same-sex couples to incest. I found that deeply offensive and unfair,” Rep. Barney Frank, D-Mass., said in a broadcast interview.

“If he was inviting the Rev. Warren to participate in a forum and to make a speech, that would be a good thing,” Frank said. “But being singled out to give the prayer at the inauguration is a high honor. It has traditionally given as a mark of great respect. And, yes, I think it was wrong to single him out for this mark of respect.

Warren, a best-selling author and leader of a Southern California megachurch, is a popular evangelical who stresses the need for action on social issues such as reducing poverty and protecting the environment, alongside traditional theological themes.

But gay rights advocates, who strongly supported Obama during the election, are angry over Warren’s backing of a California ballot initiative banning gay marriage. That measure was approved by voters last month.

Although Warren has said that he has nothing personally against gays, he has condemned same-sex marriage.

“I have many gay friends. I’ve eaten dinner in gay homes. No church has probably done more for people with AIDS than Saddleback Church,” he said in a recent interview with BeliefNet. But later in the interview, he compared the “redefinition of marriage” to include gay marriage to legitimizing incest, child abuse and polygamy.

Warren, in a speech on Saturday, said he took “enormous heat” three years ago for inviting Obama to speak at his church, even though the two men disagree on some issues. “Now he’s invited me,” Warren said.

Obama defended the selection of Warren last week, telling reporters that America needs to “come together,” even when there’s disagreement on social issues. “That dialogue is part of what my campaign is all about,” he said.
