Rep. Frank Opposes Warren Invocation at Inauguration

Frank, who is openly gay, says it was a mistake to give such a high honor to a pastor who compared homosexuality to incest.

WASHINGTON — The first openly gay member of Congress said Sunday it was a mistake for President-elect Barack Obama to invite the Rev. Rick Warren to deliver the invocation at his inauguration.

“Mr. Warren compared same-sex couples to incest. I found that deeply offensive and unfair,” Rep. Barney Frank, D-Mass., said in a broadcast interview.

“If he was inviting the Rev. Warren to participate in a forum and to make a speech, that would be a good thing,” Frank said. “But being singled out to give the prayer at the inauguration is a high honor. It has traditionally given as a mark of great respect. And, yes, I think it was wrong to single him out for this mark of respect.”

Warren, a best-selling author and leader of a Southern California megachurch, is a popular evangelical who stresses the need for action on social issues such as reducing poverty and protecting the environment, alongside traditional theological themes.

But gay rights advocates, who strongly supported Obama during the election, are angry over Warren’s backing of a California ballot initiative banning gay marriage. That measure was approved by voters last month.

Although Warren has said that he has nothing personally against gays, he has condemned same-sex marriage.

“I have many gay friends. I’ve eaten dinner in gay homes. No church has probably done more for people with AIDS than Saddleback Church,” he said in a recent interview with BeliefNet. But later in the interview, he compared the “redefinition of marriage” to include gay marriage to legitimizing incest, child abuse and polygamy.

Warren, in a speech on Saturday, said he took “enormous heat” three years ago for inviting Obama to speak at his church, even though the two men disagree on some issues. “Now he’s invited me,” Warren said.

Obama defended the selection of Warren last week, telling reporters that America needs to “come together,” even when there’s disagreement on social issues. “That dialogue is part of what my campaign is all about,” he said.

Don’t get too close!

He’s the person most responsible for the recent destruction of the economy. He is the Dem chair of the Banking Committee and fought off every attempt at regulating that criminal organization. He is probably responsible for the destruction of more wealth than any person in American history, and he may get into the second ten all-time, behind Hitler, Lenin, Stalin, Mao and various other historical dirtballs. Of course Barney Slimebag did it for a good cause….his aim was to take your money and give it to more deserving people….he calls them “his constituents”. We would call them “deadbeats”. As recently as July of this year, he was proudly touting that there were “no problems” with Fannie Mae and that it was a good investment. At that point the capital ratio was lower than any lending organization ever. What he meant, but wouldn’t say was that he expected the U.S. government to back the bad loans. So here we are…..unemployement heading over 10%, 20 Trillion in wealth poofed, people’s retirements ruined, teetering on a Depression….but Barney doesn’t care. He’s getting a pay increase!

He’s proud of his accomplishments. Like Bill Ayers, he wishes he could do more. Unlike Bill Ayers, since the monumental idiots in his district seem willing to re-elect him no matter what crimes he commits, he probably WILL be able to do more.

Personally, I’d like to get near him for just 5 seconds.

Well the Pharisees, Sadducees, and many others didn’t see eye-to-eye with John the Baptist, or with Jesus himself….on various issues. They (John & The Lord) certainly didn’t walk hand-in-hand with them. Neither did any of the Prophets or Apostles walk hand-in-hand with those they did not see eye-to-eye with. They did though; rebuke them! (Gently or Otherwise) …and offered a way back.
We all know what that way is……….

I don`t trust this Warren guy.

Q: Did the rest of the apostles leave the Church that Jesus was establishing here on Earth in view of the fact that one of them betrayed the Lord? Did Jesus go back and start again because his inner circle was corrupted with the darkness of Judas?

If Satan himself sat as Pontiff, I would not leave the Church – because you see, it’s not any man or new dictum that I follow… but the recognized word of God alone, in celebration with the Eucharist, in communion with the body (the people) that makes up the Church.

Any denomination can (and all have had) evil scattered within them!

Had we stayed together as one church (No Schism, No Reformations) we would have ultimately overturned corrupt canon and in the end be strong in our Christian unanimity. It’s our divisions that have weakened us all!

Nevertheless, it is HIS will that it unfold this way!

Notice I didn’t even need to bring God into it!

On another note: I personally get this feeling of uncertainty when it comes to R.Warren.
Can’t put my finger on it! Just keep in mind that for Satan to fool “multitudes” there has to be a large proportion of truth in the lie.

Also; there is plenty in the New Testament regarding sexual sin. But hey we know how the Lib’s twist the word. Omit, take out of context, etc, etc

Here is one they like to use (twist) all the time:

John 8:7 “So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.”
Yet they always seem to leave out the conclusion, John 8:11. “… And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more”

an interesting note, though – for all the platitudes and talking obama and his lovely wife make about giving back to the least, not being in business,
but doing community work – abhoring wealth.. blah blah… i heard today that Rick Warren ‘reverse-tithes’ – giving 90% of his income and keeping 10.
For all their talk the obamas don’t nearly live up to their words.

Could some of that rub off on obama?….. nah!… they’re all talk.
