House GOP ‘Fast Tracks’ Help For Obama-Care?

From The Hill:

GOP fast tracks bill to fortify ObamaCare’s high-risk pools

By Elise Viebeck | 04/16/13

House Republicans are moving quickly on a new bill to strengthen ObamaCare’s temporary insurance plan for people with pre-existing conditions.

The Helping Sick Americans Now Act (H.R. 1549) was introduced late Monday and is scheduled for a mark-up Wednesday in the House Energy and Commerce Committee.

The measure seeks to shore up the Pre-Existing Conditions Insurance Plan (PCIP), a struggling program designed to offer insurance to vulnerable patients while the Affordable Care Act is fully implemented.

The Obama administration announced earlier this year that it would suspend enrollment in the PCIP, citing cost concerns.

So why are the House Republicans throwing a lifeline to Obama-Care? We thought they were trying to sink it?

GOP lawmakers have since mounted a push to transfer money from the law’s public and preventive health fund — disparaged as a "slush" fund by Republicans — to reopen the PCIP’s enrollment.

The new measure follows a letter from House GOP leaders to President Obama asking him to make that move without congressional action.

So they are even calling on Obama to bypass Congress with an executive order?

Rep. Joe Pitts (R-Pa.), who leads the Energy and Commerce subcommittee on Health, slammed Obama late Monday for ignoring the letter.

"Sick Americans without insurance face lots of hurdles to find good coverage," said Pitts, lead sponsor on the new bill.

"Since the White House hasn’t answered our appeal, we’ve introduced legislation that would ensure that Americans with pre-existing conditions can once again have access to this program," Pitts said in a statement.

The bill would use funds from health reform’s Public Health and Prevention Fund to keep the PCIP open through the end of the year…

Bizarre. Inexplicable.

Unless the GOP listening to the inside the beltway consultants, and planning to run to the left of Obama on Obama-Care in the midterms.

I suppose House GOP members want to forfeit their seats and just go ahead and speed the transition to “Fundamentally Transform” America into the socialist utopia democrats look forward to.

Should democrats win the House in 2014 while maintaining the Senate then the America we all knew as children will be finished. We will be able to gather our grandchildren around and tell them what it was like to actually have freedom and liberty. We will tell them what possessing firearms felt like and how we were the masters in our homes. How you could just go to the doctor when you got sick, no lines, no waiting for approval, just go to the doctor and actually be seen the same day. I guess I’m speaking to the choir but I have to express my frustrations or my head will explode with all of the utter nonsense indoctrinating the low-information people of this country.

Sadly, the LIV’s are also prevalent in the supposedly conservative portions of our society. Fellow workers have lamented their desire to “be taken care of” and they often believe (and say so) that the government should do it. When I say, “Why don’t YOU do it. You say you just bought a new car and you were bitching about the payments. Why didn’t you buy a cheaper car and use the money that now goes to the new car payment toward your retirement?”

Then they give me a look. Then they start going on about “needing” a new car that did X and Y and Z. And then complaining about how expensive everything is.

It’s a matter of priorities. I’ll even admit that mine aren’t the greatest but I also don’t complain if I’ve gotten myself into a pickle.

I have yet to make out a will. Since everything I own, which is very little, I don’t want the government to get their grubby little mitts on, I need to decide who gets what. It’s not much but there are things that someone can certainly make use of.

In any case, the inability of people to have honest conversations with themselves always costs in the long run. It’s sad to witness when that is proven out. I simply hope to die of old age, without government interference, after doing something I love more than anything.

As my sainted mother used to say….”Weak as Water”!

The GOP is gutless. To tell y’all the truth, I can’t see any difference between the current GOP leadership and Nancy Pelosi except that they move a little slower to the left.

Just sitting in a chicken coup won’t make you a chicken and sitting in a church won’t save your soul but obviously sitting in Washington, DC does makes you a mindless liberal progressive with not a care in the world for the American taxpayer.

Like a horse with blinders on, they can only see as far as their own re-election and don’t give a rat’s rear end about the United States of America.

    “Weak as Water”!
