When Bush was in office, Doonsberry’s author was asking, via his comic, where the myth of Republicans being more fiscally responsible came from. It seemed almost a valid point at the time. But after less than a hundred days in office and uncountable trillions borrowed and rolled off the presses to be set on fire and thrown into a few different bottomless pits, I think I have found yet another obvious answer to another liberal’s pointless question.

I liked Bush’s fiscal irresponsibility way better: start an expensive war, but cut taxes AND mail everybody an extra check for a few hundred bucks and tell them to stimulate the economy with it. How come only failed banking corporations that contributed heavily to Obama’s campaign get checks to stimulate the economy now?

The “critics” keep presenting their budgets time and again, and they keep getting shot down on pure party-line votes.

Of course the press repeats the lies that Republicans are not presenting alternatives ad nauseum and it looks like the GOP is just a bunch of negative whiners.

Excellent work, Mr. President.

I hate what he’s doing, but you have to admire how well the Democrats are doing it and the fact that there’s not a damn thing we can do to stop it.

Didn’t Mr. Boehner et al introduce an alternative stimulus plan? Didn’t Rush do the same? All this is fine for somebody to come out for news purposes and make a “budget” although it would be a time extensive waste of effort. Because as well all know, the rules in the House for amendments are now draconian, and if a Representative were to go to all the trouble to introduce an amendment to the bill to basically replace the President’s budget with the “republican alternative” it would just die on party line vote. If I were Obama I would ask for an alternative budget all day long, because a budget is the one exact piece of legislation that an “alternative” is truly a pointless exercise. How many months would it take to write, I too would encourage the Republicans to take their eyes off the prize for that long and spin their wheels for no legislative reason.

‘Show me your budget!’

It is time the GOP started doing just that. Introduce a counter piece of legislation to every Democrat boondoggle they bring to the floor. Stop just voting no and start giving Congress a choice. I doubt any of it will pass, but at least will show flaws in the DNC plans, if merely by juxtaposition.
