0-414 vote: House clobbers budget proposal based on Obama’s 2013 plan

By Pete Kasperowicz – 03/28/2012

The House on Wednesday night unanimously rejected an alternative budget proposal based on President Obama’s 2013 budget plan, dispatching it in a 0-414 rout.

The vote came just hours after the White House cast the pending vote as a political "gimmick," an apparent attempt to downplay what many expected to be an ugly-looking vote for the White House.

White House officials said Rep. Mick Mulvaney (R-S.C.), the sponsor of the alternative, was using Obama’s top-line spending and revenue numbers as a budget proposal, without any specifics. On the House floor, Budget Committee Ranking Member Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.) agreed that Mulvaney’s amendment was not, in fact, Obama’s entire budget proposal.

"This is politics at its absolute worst: presenting something as the President’s budget without the policy detail, without the explanation to the American people about what’s in the President’s budget," he said. "And as a result, he presents a very misleading version of what the President has asked us to do."

And never mind that there are no specifics, no policy details in Obama’s budget, either.

Mulvaney seemed to relish the idea of bringing up a proposal based on Obama’s numbers, and openly wondered, tongue-in-cheek, why no Democrats sought to introduce it. He then criticized it by saying it does not foresee a balanced budget at any point in the future

What is so "tongue-in-cheek" about wondering why the Democrats have refused to even introduce Obama’s budget?

Obama’s budget plans have a poor track record in Congress over the last year. In May 2011, 97 senators voted against a motion to take up his 2012 budget plan — no senator voted in favor of the motion…

Again, why are the Democrats so terrified at the thought of even vote on Obama’s budgets? Meanwhile, later today, the Republican controlled House will almost certainly pass the Ryan budget plan, which the news media tells us is so wildly unpopular with the American people.

Which party is the ‘Party of No,’ again?

Yahoo News: White House slams Republican criticisms of Obama’s open-mic Russia gaffe

By Olivier Knox Mar 29 2012

The White House on Thursday accused Republicans criticizing President Barack Obama over his candid but caught-on-tape comments to Russian President Dmitry Medvedev—like presidential front-runner Mitt Romney and House Speaker John Boehner—of having an outdated “Cold War” mindset and said Obama would happily fight for his policy through the election.

“I’m pretty sure the Cold War ended when some of the folks in this room were still in elementary school, and any suggestion that Russia is America’s No. 1 geopolitical foe represents a unique understanding of recent history,” spokesman Jay Carney said wryly.

His comments came a day after Boehner wrote Obama a letter expressing concerns about the president’s promise to Medvedev that the White House would have more flexibility to negotiate on missile defense after the November elections.

The president himself was forced to address the issue on Tuesday as he attended an international summit in Seoul, South Korea, where he insisted that he only meant that partisan election-year politics complicate international arms control efforts.

But “we have a relationship with Russia that allows us to discuss those differences candidly and openly,” Carney said.

“…It is not directed at Russia. That is the point that we have made to the Russians. They have not been persuaded, but we will work with them and continue to have discussions with them to demonstrate that,” Carney said.

Obama blames everyone for his mic gaff, though he was holding the smoking mic.

This whole administration is a gimmick\fraud upon this nation from the start. What a shame. From rose colored glass’s at his oath of office, to his bowing to a Muslim king. This suit will be defined, Not by his color. But by his ingorance and arrogance of his Constitutional duties. The rest of us are just “racist”.
    Nice picture Steve! Thanks!
