Bill Clinton’s ‘Step And Fetchit’ Remark

It is amazing that Bill Clinton’s comment about Mr. Obama has gotten so little attention, especially as it is even more racist than Harry Reid’s.

Once again, from the new book ‘Game Change,’ via Marc Ambinder at the The Atlantic:

Former President Bill Clinton speaks at the Brookins Community A.M.E. Church in Los Angeles, Calif., Sunday, Feb. 3, 2008.

Game Change: Even More Juicy Stuff

by Marc Ambinder
From Game Change, by Mark Halperin and John Heilemann

Jan 9 2010

Why Sen. Kennedy was offended about his conversation with Bill Clinton (page 218):

"Recounting the conversation later to a friend, Teddy fumed that Clinton had said, A few years ago this guy would have been getting us coffee."

This certainly reveals the true plantation mentality of the Democrat Party.

(Come to think of it, we may have answered our own question about why hasn’t this gotten more media attention.)

Still, this is pretty hilarious stuff, coming as it does from a man who likes to describe himself as the nation’s ‘first black President.’

By the way, remember how piously our media watchdog treated Mr. Clinton’s apology tour during the campaign, where he went to a different black church every week.

Heck, we even remember candidate Hillary passing out coffee in front of the Abyssinian Baptist Church in Harlem, as part of her seemingly endless show of attending services at black churches.

Democratic presidential hopeful Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, D-N.Y. , and Rev. Dr. Calvin O. Butts serve hot chocolate and coffee to the crowd outside the Abyssinian Baptist Church after attending services in New York’s Harlem section Sunday, Jan. 20, 2008.

Now that’s irony.

    1) I cannot see a racial implication here since no one thinks of blacks as waiters – a gopher, maybe, yet the “coffee” nuance doesn’t carry the “shoe shine” boy implication –
    2) as far as the other implication of the term, I i kinda agree with Clinton – while I see not many qualities in dba Obama, theredefinitely is a lackey “je ne sai quoi” about him –

  2. Confucius says:

If the black community is oppressed, it’s because they allow it.

I would agree with your statement, but would add a W to the word ‘allow’ for “‘wallow’…in it”

Seems a large number of blacks are intrenched in the victim role…no matter what has been offered to them to better their plight. Certainly not all but far too many. Mostly part of the ‘gimme’ bunch. Of course their are far to many whites in that club as well.

Blago says “I’m blacker than Obama, I’ve shined shoes.” The insinuation is that only black people shine shoes and that in order to be ‘authentically’ black, one must have shined shoes.

Clinton says “A few years ago this guy would have been getting us coffee.” Although Slick Willie was the first black President, so maybe he feels like he can say that.

Biden was surprised that a black man could be so “clean and articulate.” Maybe Biden was only seeing Obama’s white half at the time.

Harry Reid points out Obama’s lack of “negro dialect, unless he wants one.” After which, the DNC chairman actually said on Fox News it was “praise of Obama!”

I don’t recall anything half as offensive being said by a Republican in recent history. How is it that the democrat party has convinced black people that they are the party for them, when the DNC leadership has so unequivocally shown its contempt for black people? I guess black people still remember how hard the democrat party fought for the Civil Rights Act, oh wait, wrong party. I don’t think any political party should pander to any specific group of people, but treating blacks like errand boys, shoe shiners, and being surprised by articulate, clean, well-spoken black people is no way to engratiate oneself to them.

The same standard of outrage, shunning, and copius [public] apologies should be called for in the case of these four democrats as is typically requisite when a republican says anything remotely offensive to any group of more than 3 people.

To be fair, I’m amazed that Druncle Ted was offended. As a white man of european descend, I don’t even think of these things let alone say them out loud.
mr_bill nails it. How can you blindly follow those that think so little of you? Who cares about race/creed/color?
When its about votes, it’s the democrats.

  5. proreason says:

I wonder who hates black people the most…..Clinton, Reid, Biden, Byrd or Obamy.

  6. Melly says:

I luv El Rushbo. Just heard what Steve posted on Rush – he practically repeated Steve’s comment verbatim.
I never realized how much Rush relies on S & L as a source of information,
Steve – you are providing a noble service to our country of ill – informed people.

  7. U NO HOO says:

Rush, are you going to blend McNabb, Vick, and Romo into the discussion?

  8. proreason says:

To all you lurking Clintonites…..how much more degredation can you take?

Harry Reid is as obvious a Racist as a person can be, yet Obamy rushes to his defense, while your guy Bubba, arguably the least Racist president of all time, is left to twist in the wind.

How’s that hopenchange working our for you? Hillary is enjoying all that power, donchathink? How about that Lower East Guineau ambassadorship for Bubba? Did you enjoy those Chicagoans bussed into Iowa to steal Hillary’s victory there? How do you like the Moron confiscating your staff and turning them into 3rd world leftist apologists? What do Bill and Hillary think about our affirmative-action president bowing and scraping to every dictator on the planet? How’s Arkansas doin, btw?

And particularly you Clintonites in Massachusetts, wasn’t it swell what Teddy did to your gal?

You know, you never get all that you want in politics.

But never have two more important people been more shafted by a party than have the Clintons.

Maybe it’s time to wash the Moron out of your hair and start over.

“Heck, we even remember candidate Hillary passing out coffee in front of the Abyssinian Baptist Church in Harlem, as part of her seemingly endless show of attending services at black churches.”

Certainly, you are not saying Hillary is not continuing to attend church in Harlem! I won’t believe it!

Why, that would make her…dishonest!…or a panderer!…or putting our good people of color in the position of being ‘useful idiots’ just to get their votes!

Oh the shame of it all!

  10. U NO HOO says:

As Rush says, DemocRATS do what DemocRATS do.

  11. U NO HOO says:

Hey, coffee starts out black until you lighten it and sweeten it.

    Is that a racist comment?

    • Liberals Demise says:

Hey….I like my coffee like I like my women…..
      White and Sweet!!

Is that a racist / sexist comment?
      Either way….I don’t care!
