WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama’s adviser Van Jones has resigned amid controversy over past inflammatory statements, the White House said early Sunday.

Van Jones, an administration official specializing in environmentally friendly “green jobs,” has been linked to efforts suggesting a government role in the Sept. 11 terror attacks and to derogatory comments about Republicans.

Jones issued an apology on Thursday. When asked the next day whether Obama still had confidence in him, White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said only that Jones “continues to work in the administration.”

The matter surfaced after news reports of a derogatory comment Jones made in the past about Republicans, and separately, of Jones’s name appearing on a petition connected to the events surrounding 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon.

That 2004 petition had asked for congressional hearings and other investigations into whether high-level government officers had allowed the attacks to occur.

Jones flatly said in his statement that he did not agree with the petition’s stand and that “it certainly does not reflect my views, now or ever.”

As for his other comments he made before joining Obama’s team, Jones said: “If I have offended anyone with statements I made in the past, I apologize.”

I believe this is the real reason why Nerobama left the Republican Secretary of Defense Robert Gates in place. There are not enough eligible candidates in the Democrat Party who could pass a DOD top secret clearance.

It is a pathetically sad comment on our times that we have a Commander in Chief, Vice President, and Speaker of the House none of whom could pass a DOD security clearance.

Hell .. I didn’t want to see o-blah-blah in any office much less his associates!!! :-)

But your point is well taken. They are just as crooked and inept.

As a farther experiment, ask yourself, what associate of Obama over the years would you want to see in the US government?

US VIPS to Visit Svalbard’s Global Seed Bank

A diverse delegation of VIPs from the US will travel to Norway’s Arctic archipelago of Svalbard this week in an attempt to learn more about global warming and climate change.

The group of Americans comes as a high profile nod from politics and business at a time when climate change is being taken increasingly seriously in the USA. CNN founder Ted Turner, Google founder Larry Page, billionaire philanthropist George Soros, former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright and ex-US President Jimmy Carter are just some of the well-known faces in the delegation.

The focus of the trip, which was organised by the National Geographic Society, is to examine the revolutionary Global Seed Bank that opened this February. The monumental facility houses seed samples from across the globe.
