Obama adviser Van Jones resigns amid controversy

From the AP

By WILL LESTER, Associated Press Writer Will Lester, Associated Press Writer – 15 mins ago

WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama's adviser Van Jones has resigned amid controversy over past inflammatory statements, the White House said early Sunday.

Van Jones, an administration official specializing in environmentally friendly "green jobs," has been linked to efforts suggesting a government role in the Sept. 11 terror attacks and to derogatory comments about Republicans.

Jones issued an apology on Thursday. When asked the next day whether Obama still had confidence in him, White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said only that Jones "continues to work in the administration."

The matter surfaced after news reports of a derogatory comment Jones made in the past about Republicans, and separately, of Jones's name appearing on a petition connected to the events surrounding 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon.

That 2004 petition had asked for congressional hearings and other investigations into whether high-level government officers had allowed the attacks to occur.

Jones flatly said in his statement that he did not agree with the petition's stand and that "it certainly does not reflect my views, now or ever."

As for his other comments he made before joining Obama's team, Jones said: "If I have offended anyone with statements I made in the past, I apologize."

------Well, I'll say this much, the Blammo administration has a pretty good batting average for ratting out criminals and then unseating them. I hope the hits just keep coming.

Speaking of green energy, an Austin Company is going to move to Detroit and be housed in an old Auto Plant. Fox Business News has a video: http://tinyurl.com/knl23m This Company started in 2004 and the new generation batteries (that this company invented) are made in the USA. How do I know so much about it? The man in the video is my husbands boss.

proreason - this is the company I was telling you about a couple of months ago - http://xtremepowersolutions.com/

Make a mental note of this SG and pro.... I'm just saying. :-)

Good point, pagar.

I believe this is the real reason why Nerobama left the Republican Secretary of Defense Robert Gates in place. There are not enough eligible candidates in the Democrat Party who could pass a DOD top secret clearance.

It is a pathetically sad comment on our times that we have a Commander in Chief, Vice President, and Speaker of the House none of whom could pass a DOD security clearance.

I think one would be hard pressed to find anyone,( that is non-military) that has been bought in to this administration that one would consider as having held a working position and done a good job at it. The Sec of Treasury can't even do his taxes correctly. Surely there is someone who has done their taxes correctly that would be qualified for that position.

As a farther experiment, ask yourself, what associate of Obama over the years would you want to see in the US government?

Van Jones was annointed on high before this. In July 2008, he was part of a National Explorer expedition to the Arctic with the likes of George Soros, Jimmy Carter, Madeline Albright, and Ted Turner. Another strange thing is that his book, The Green Collar Economy was published in Oct. 2008. Funny, it looks like someone was really fast-tracking him.

US VIPS to Visit Svalbard's Global Seed Bank

A diverse delegation of VIPs from the US will travel to Norway’s Arctic archipelago of Svalbard this week in an attempt to learn more about global warming and climate change.

The group of Americans comes as a high profile nod from politics and business at a time when climate change is being taken increasingly seriously in the USA. CNN founder Ted Turner, Google founder Larry Page, billionaire philanthropist George Soros, former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright and ex-US President Jimmy Carter are just some of the well-known faces in the delegation.

The focus of the trip, which was organised by the National Geographic Society, is to examine the revolutionary Global Seed Bank that opened this February. The monumental facility houses seed samples from across the globe.

Van Jones is not mentioned in the article, but he does feature in the National Geographic videos. (Soros is not shown in the videos, but it obviously is the same expedition.)

I wonder what Mr. Jones profession was before he became a "czar". What was his job? How he made his living from the moment he gratuated from college until he was hired by Obama? Did he ever run a small business, a gas station or even a drug dealing operation before he was qualified to be a green "JOBS" czar?
From his entry in Wikipedia all I could find is that this guy was a professional self proclaimed revolutionary (same as Lenin, Trotsky, Che Guevara and Fidel Castro).
The President of US is advised about green JOBS from a person who never held a real job on his life!!!!!
