Huffington Post Shows Lieberman In Blackface
From Zsa Zsa Huffington’s site:
Jane Hamsher: On the Ground with Lamont/Lieberman
E.J. Dionne repeats a piece of conventional wisdom that irks the hell out of me every time I hear it - if Lieberman loses the primary and runs as an independent it will distract everyone from the true villain, the GOP, and therefore we should just give him a pass.
Balderdash. Lieberman has been an integral part of the GOP’s bully machine for the past six years, the Democrat useful for his willingness to dicipline his own kind. Ned Lamont is running a legitimate primary contest and Joe is refusing to abide by the results of that primary. As Lowell Weicker said the other day, when he became an independent he didn’t screw with the Republican primary first (my words not his) he just left. Joe is mucking up the Democratic primary and then abandoning the party to attack it from the outside. How this is the fault of Ned Lamont or his supporters I would very much like to know.
“Vote for me or I’ll take the party down with me” hardly seems like an honest way to win an election.
Dionne says he personally knows and likes Lieberman. Perhaps he and all the other DC insiders who are so worried that this Lamont challenge will end up hurting Democrats in the fall should have a talk with Joe. After all, whether or not there is a “distraction” is entirely in his hands.
Joe is pulling in nearly $100,000 a day in donations; he’s now raised over $10 million dollars and he’s pouring it into vote buying. This money isn’t coming because Joe is beloved; it’s coming because toppling him is a threat to oh so many who see their gravy train coming to an end if they have to be responsible to an electorate who expect them to stand for something. I know many think Joe will be under pressure to withdraw from the race if he loses the primary, but I wonder if he will be under pressure to stay in, to fight a proxy battle on behalf of those who think they’re next. They have already proven they are willing to throw gobs of cash at him to forestall that eventuality. It will certainly be interesting to see if any of those writing the big checks will be willing to stand with him and suffer political LieberCooties should that day come.
. I have to say I was surprised when Joe Lieberman accepted an invitation to be at the Wake Up WalMart press conference today. He’s avoided appearing with Ned Lamont at all costs, and I was rather impressed Joe wanted to show his solidarity with those whom WalMart habitually exploits.
I guess it was just another photo op after all, because Maura of My Left Nutmeg has done some digging and it turns out Holy Joe has no problems taking WalMart money — this election cycle.
WalMart has a political action committee to further this right wing agenda.
[O]ne of the two of these Senate candidates have accepted campaign contributions from Wal-Mart’s right wing PAC. Want to guess which one?
Bingo! Joe Lieberman. And it was for this cycle, in February. When Lieberman ran for President, he also received maximum contributions from Wal-Mart family fortune heir John Walton and his wife Christy. (This is just an initial search - I may find even more.)
Once again Joe Lieberman tries to have it both ways - scold WalMart when he wants votes from people who care about good jobs and health care, but take campaign contributions to advance Wal-Mart’s right wing agenda.
I’m thinking that will be me with my hand raised asking questions at the rally. WalMart isn’t the only one who needs to wake up.
. Meanwhile the slavishly bovine Sue Haigh of the AP takes more dictation from
Lee AtwaterMarion Slimefels about a story nobody cares about while Iraq burns. I’m starting to think maybe the AP has an agenda here. Maybe somebody should ask them?. Lieberman’s new packaging is a dud, but he’s pushing it hard. His latest PR makeover? Experience! Yes, Joe’s got loads of it. Eighteen years’ worth. Just ask the Hartford Courant:
Seniority often matters, however. Mr. Lieberman has gained considerable influence in his 18 years in the Senate. His specialty is working with Republican moderates — and sometimes conservatives — to craft bills that can pass the most divided, least civil Congress in memory.
And of course the Washington Post, grateful for the respite in defending their own warmongering so they can come to the aid of proxy Joe:
But it seems that Mr. Lieberman is also being pummeled for his ability to work with Republicans and get things done in Washington…This is a talent and temperament that is helpful to the Democrats in the minority but will be needed even more if there’s a change in power in one or both houses of Congress or, in 2008, in the White House. Then, more than ever, the Democratic Party, if it hopes to accomplish anything, will need people such as Mr. Lieberman who bring some civility to an increasingly uncivil capital — who can accept the idea that opponents may disagree in good faith and who can then work to find areas of agreement and assemble working majorities of 60 senators.
(*yawn*)
What eactly has Joe’s “experience” been able to achieve? Well, he approved Michael Brown in 42 minutes. He was the only northeast Democrat to sign the Cheney energy bill. He voted for NAFTA, CAFTA and cloture on both the bankruptcy bill and Alito. The Department of Homeland
GraftSecurity was his baby. Then there was the Gang of 14. Roberts. The Bush tax cuts. And let’s not forget his signature war.I don’t know exactly how things would have been different if Joe HADN’T been around to lend his “experience” to the GOP on such key issues, but it sure would be nice to find out.
I have to admit I have no idea of who this person Jane Hamsher is. And I can’t even quite make out what she is saying, except she doesn’t seem to like Senator Lieberman.
I just think it is telling that the left’s anti-Semitism and their desire for our defeat in Iraq trumps even their pretenses at political correctness.
They are pulling out all the stops.
(Thanks to Kilmeny for the heads up.)

Think “Natural Born Killers”, SG. I believe she had a hand in that smarmy bit of cinematic drudgery.
Double standards certainly thrive in the reality-based communitiy, don’t they. Can you imagine the outrage had some conservative duded up, say, Robert Bird, in blackface? When the Clintons whined about the politics of personal destruction, they were projecting for the entire Left.
August 2nd, 2006 at 2:45 pm
Yep. In fact Ms. Hamsher went to film school, which explains her omniscience:
Apparently, Hamsher is Lamont’s biggest backer. And she has raised a lot of money for him in Hollywood.

It’s nice to know this is how they would have treated the man who they elected Vice President, had Gore won in 2000. But, then again, Gore wouldn’t have waged a tough, but winning, battle against terrorism after 9/11 so Lieberman wouldn’t be in this hot water…
Just goes to show you that there is no loyalty or common decency on the left, that and they are the masters of “Do as I say, not as I do” rhetoric. Imagine if Coulter or O’Reilly had done something like this. The left would be apoplectic.
August 2nd, 2006 at 3:24 pm
The irony is overwhelming. In 1994-1995, after Newt Gingrich led the Republicans in their dramatic Congressional sweep and pushed their Contract with America forward (like they promised), the MSM called them androids, using terms like “lock-step” and “towing the party line”. Now, when a Democrat demonstrates bipartisanship and eshews his own party line, they complain that he’s just a GOP hack and an impediment to party discipline. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised that they can execute an ‘about-face’ so easily (having seen it so many times already), but it still kills me that they have no shame about it.

The picture has now been taken down, but does anyone understand why the man was painted in black? I mean is there any reason other than racism for such a picture?
I just don’t get what the picture is supposed to be saying unless it’s trying to say that he is a black slave who is subservient to Clinton. Am I missing something?
Though aparently the Left has done this before…

I’m just speechless when I see that picture. Does this woman think she’s being provocative with this, or is she just thinking to herself that its perfectly ok because everyone knows the Left can’t possibly be racist?
I sent you a reply, SG, Drudge is where I found it.

Who is this dame Jane Hamster? I wonder if anyone considered conservative had pulled this stunt how it would be recieved by our professionally outraged and offended left.

Its just pretty funny coming from the people that are now pouncing on Mel Gibson. Although I suspect he will get off lightly. He is still one of their own.
August 2nd, 2006 at 4:54 pm
kilmeny - I don’t think that’s true about Mel. He’s pro-life, he’s an outspoken Christian, and he doesn’t get invited to DNC fundraisers. He’s a ‘Hollywood Elite’ only in the sense that he’s popular with the public, and has a lot of success at the box office. The libs he lives amongst can’t ignore him, but they definitely don’t like him.

Exeter is right. Gibson’s career is going to be seriously damaged. Don’t misunderstand me, if he said what he did it was stupid and mean and wrong.
The Hollywood types are quick to turn a blind eye when one of their own say things like Gibson (Cindy Sheehan, BFF of Susan Sarandon comes to mind here), but the second someone with whom they disagree (and many disagree with Gibson) says something in the same vein, it’s a crime.
As a local radio talkshow host says, what’s a parking ticket for a liberal is a felony for a conservative.
August 2nd, 2006 at 5:08 pm
Oh I don’t believe they like him or respect his views or anything like that. But he’s Mel freakin’ Gibson. He’s not, say, Rush Limbaugh or George Bush. He’ll go through rehab, get a slap on the wrist punishment for DUI, his lawyers will make out handsomely, and it’ll all be forgotten. That’s all I’m saying.
August 2nd, 2006 at 5:12 pm
Who gives a damn what Mel says or thinks? Most of the people hanging him out to dry think the very same things, but havent been caught saying them yet. Anyone who supports terrorists like our hollywood types do are anti semetic by proxy. Gibson was a drunk asshole…but think of the things coming from other leftists and liberals mouths when they arent drunk. That is truly scary. Screw Gibson. This isnt worth the news coverage it’s getting. There are far more important things to worry about that a hollywood “star’s” opinions on anything.
August 2nd, 2006 at 5:28 pm
So… there was “outrage” over an ambiguous “tar baby” remark, but a doctored photo that “paints” Liberman in a style very similar to that used in racist films of the early 20th centruy (by a person with a film degree - one who should know that this has taken place in the past) draws… nothing. Nope, no criticism, nothing.
Ridiculous.
August 2nd, 2006 at 5:32 pm
Jews used to run hollywood back in the 30’s, 40’s, 50’s. Is that still true today?
August 2nd, 2006 at 5:38 pm
EQ - I’ve read a few left-leaning articles on the Gibson situation (frankly, I find the world news to be a little more pressing at the moment, but evidently the libs think a racial slur is equivalent to a war). From what I’ve read, all Gibson did was ask the officer if he was Jewish, than added that “the Jews are the reason there’s so much war in the world” (I paraphrase). If he said more than this, I haven’t heard it - and I think we all would have. Like you, I don’t condone this - but it’s hardly the crime of the century. Furthermore, Gibson was drunk - and since he’s an admitted alcoholic, probably VERY drunk. Now, his condition was definitely his own fault, but it’s a little unfair to hold him accountable for what he said in that condition. I’ve been drunk before, and said LOTS of stupid things that bear no resemblance to the things I really think and feel. Moreover, Gibson apologized like a man - he made no excuses for himself, made no liberal-style apologies (”IF you’re offended, THEN I’m sorry…”), and expressed what I thought was heartfelt shame for his actions. The ADL and the rest of the ‘lynch Gibson’ crew won’t let it go because they want revenge for “The Passion of the Christ”.

The “Puff Ho” is a nasty, vindictive woman. Rather hard to believe she used to be a Republican. She swallowed the “Clinton kool-aid”, as it were, and became impregnated with leftwing lunacy.
August 2nd, 2006 at 6:17 pm
DWIC - she was never a real Republican, just a RINO. When she found out she was the fringe of the party, not its base, she switched.
August 2nd, 2006 at 6:43 pm
True enough, Exeter. Lately, it’s becoming more and more difficult to tell the difference between a RINO and a DINO or anything in between. None of them seem to know or care about anything except lining their pockets or pocketing votes.
I just recall an old interview when she strongly proclaimed she was a Republican.
She’s a damn fool.

“America people” — apart from the white trash and the Jews (Neo-Cons) the blacks and Republicans.
August 3rd, 2006 at 12:23 am
White trash???? WHITE TRASH???? I believe the term is REDNECK. And I’ve lived and worked amongst these movie people for most of my adult live. I know EXACTLY who the white trash is. It’s NOT the conservatives.
Frankly, I dont’ care if Lieberman wins or dies but the evil vitrol that liberals spew should be televised. I’ve been screamed at on the phone by music industry types because I calmly and blithely poked holes in all their rants. I’ve had drinks poured on me because I laughed at someone who was SWEARING that the republicans were more corrupt than the democrats and was spit on once for saying Cindy Sheehan was mentally ill. They’re out of there heads…but it’s damn fun to poke them.

Note that the person who (on Huffpo) takes credit for the photoshop itself goes by the screen name “darkblack.”
Does anyone besides me suspect that this may be the work of “progressive” blogger Steve Gilliard (at the request of Ms. Hamsher?) Remember, less than a year ago he created controversy–and lost paid advertising sponsors–by his own “blackfaced” photoshop of Michael Steele.
August 3rd, 2006 at 4:48 am
Darkblack seems to do a lot of photoshopping at that Firedoglake site Hamsher infects.
August 3rd, 2006 at 10:13 am
And if anyone’s seen the latest Vent on Hot Air, Michelle actually has film of Jane with Ned.
Maybe she’s not on his campaign, but she’s clearly working to get him elected.
And hasn’t Clinton consistently been pandering to blacks by pretending to be someone he is not? Didn’t anyone catch the funeral he decided to turn political when he claimed he sat in the back as solidarity with Rosa Parks as a child despite not having the time line to back it up?
And when they did it to Steele, it was even white on black racism. I mean what do liberals have to do to get called out as racist panderers?
Have a past as a former keagle in the KKK and maintain a relationship with current KKK’ers?
Insult black leaders with racial slurs, such as calling them an Uncle Tom or a monkey?
I swear, my life would be so much easier if I were a lib.

Come on 1st liberals hate everyone,
They just hate the people they can tax the most more.
There is a head spinner!
August 4th, 2006 at 2:37 am
As a rule, in my experience: “White trash” (though I use that term reluctantly) don’t vote. (And sorry, “American Idol” doesn’t count.)
And using “White Trash” as a synonym for “Redneck” is a slander of rednecks—-who do vote, and not all the same way.
This is typical libelral logic: “Wealthy Warmongers” are the same people as “White Trash” are the same people as “Rich Neo-Cons/Jews” are the same people as “Bigoted Fundamentalist Christians” are the same people as “Arab-appeasing oil tycoons selling our ports to Islamofascist Sheikhs.”
To be fair, if you were that confused, you might doctor a photo to make a White Jewish man look like a White Gentile pretending to be a Black man and without meaning to, too. Though to be fair, to be that confused requires spending time with “real-life characters” and “leeches” till you have no character and your brains have been sucked dry of the capacity for critical thought.
“He voted for NAFTA, CAFTA and cloture on both the bankruptcy bill and Alito. The Department of Homeland Graft Security was his baby. Then there was the Gang of 14. Roberts. The Bush tax cuts. And let’s not forget his signature war.”
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 out of 9, and in the other three I find myself ambivalent. Though I’d have to wade through the Dhimmi’s to cast my cross-over vote, were I a Connecticut Yankee I’d be in Lieberman’s court. If that makes me “white trash” so be it and put me in the recycling bin to come back as styrofoam coffee cups full of Joe.
All right, I;m off my gourd, time fo r bed.
August 4th, 2006 at 6:54 am
Steve Gilliard posted this on his blog YESTERDAY. I do not believe it is true (and even on Kos they are now saying it’s not true,) and I think he’s posted an “update–” but has not retracted the post, or said he regretted the
errorlie.(I still think he’s Darkblack.)
Negro, is your vote for sale?
Joe Lieberman is going to hire 4,000 people, read black and Latino people, to work the polls on election day.
Well, hire in the technical sense of the word.
Because, his people are going to hand out $60 per worker, and then tell them to “take an hour and vote”.
It isn’t technically vote buying, but that’s what they think of black people. You’d sell your birthright for what Lieberman spends on a tie. Go into Bloomingdales or one of those fancy stores in Greenwich and see how much a silk tie costs, if they let you in.
Has he done anything for your communities? Has he helped get your kids into the service academies or when they deployed overseas?
No, he wants to remind you that he marched with King, and have you forget how he opposed affirmative action and wanted vouchers to destroy your schools. He lies to you about Ned Lamont so you’ll send him back to support Bush and the war his children aren’t fighting in, but yours are.
And does he give the loyal democratic workers jobs in his campaign? No. He hires College Republicans, the cowards who sit at home while your kids are in Iraq. He’s gonna fill their pockets with money, while the Dems who elected him for 18 years are excluded. And they’re laughing at you. They want Joe back to do their bidding, not yours. Most of them think black people are niggers. They are who Joe Lieberman relies on. People who have no use for you, people who hate you
Joe Lieberman says nice things about black people and whines about being depicted in blackface. But he thinks you folks are so dumb that you would sell the next six years for less than a dollar a month. He didn’t care about your family when he was defending the war in Iraq, and now $60 is supposed to buy your loyalty?
Oh, I’m not saying don’t take his money, a fool and his money are soon parted. But I am saying think about who’s on your side, who they hire and what they’ve done. If you can be bought for $60, fine. But if you’re a thinking person, a rational person, what they do not think you are, then you’ll vote for the best candidate.

Lets not forget who these democrats are supporting. Until he decided to run for senate Lamont was a registered republican.
And lets face facts, if Lieberman wins the primary, which he probably will, all these detractors who said vile things about him will be buddy-buddy again, writing blogs about how great Joe is until they see a chance to take him down again.
Joe Lieberman has my respect, he’s honest enough to say he’s voting for the war and that he’s supporting the troops.
What’s most interesting though is that in my happy home of CT, over 40% of the electorate is independent.
August 5th, 2006 at 10:59 am
The dhimms actually are the party of race baiting and divisiveness. To prove it, I offer you this from the President of the California Senate, Don Peralta (D-Oakland):
http://www.signonsandiego.com/.....erata.html
If you haven’t heard about it, in referring to illegal immigration and allowing illegals to obtain CA drivers licenses, peralta calls the people of Socal, and specifically, San Diego a bunch of “Crackers”. This of course after the governator ahhhhnold said he couldn’t believe the amount of prejudice in the people of LaMesa over this issue. So we who believe in secure borders and enforcing the law by removing illegals from our country instead of giving them a license to drive and billions in other benefits are prejudiced crackers. Of course ahhhhnold is a RINO.
John and Ken of KFI radio have started a campaign for all the “crackers” to send a box of crackers to the “don”. A similar campaing to send toilet brushes to the reconquistador mayor of LA after his remarks that “we clean your toilets” was very successful.
Oh, and don peralta and his son have been under investigation by the feds for taking political bribes among other things. How come I’m not surprised.

Well, this does it. Just for the fact that I need a real break from just about everything, I am letting everyone know that I am going away for a whole week! Yup, and not to Crawford either, much as I’d like to, but I dont do well in jail for assaulting stupid people, so, I am instead going to spend a quiet restful time in southern Missouri at the farm of my son and daughter in law. I am going to go sit in a field, and watch the clouds go by. They dont have internet, or cable, so I am going to be out of touch for a bit. I am telling everyone this so ya dont think I fell off the earth, and lurkers and trolls will have to wait a week to see what a refreshed SJ has in store for them. Be well all, and I shall return. I really need this break, bein all old an creaky like I am, and another birthday rolling up this thursday. Tell the snag to eff off for me as often as you can, and I will see ya all around the 14th.
August 5th, 2006 at 12:11 pm
SJ,
Have a good trip and enjoy yourself. See ya when you get back.

SJ…..adios…for a week. You know they have things like Cingular Air Card you can plug into your laptop and stay connected. Probably better off not though. Enjoy the vacation.
