Hugo Chavez Wins A ‘Journalism’ Award

From a cheering Associated Press:

Hugo Chavez, journalism award-winner in Argentina

Tue Mar 29, 2011

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina – Hugo Chavez is getting a journalism award in Argentina.

The Venezuelan leader regularly threatens opposition media, but the University of La Plata is giving him an award for what it describes as his work giving people without a voice access to the airwaves and newspapers.

Of course the only surprise here is that he hasn’t yet won a Pulitzer. But that will come.

Chavez’s government has bankrolled the growth of the Telesur network, providing a state-funded alternative to privately financed broadcast stations across Latin America.

In other words, Mr. Chavez’s government has a directly funded propaganda arm just like we have PBS and NPR. (In addition to the freelance propagandists in the rest of our watchdog media.)

He met Tuesday with his ally President Cristina Fernandez. She is trying to transform Argentina’s communications industry through a law that would break up media monopolies and force cable TV providers to include channels run by unions, Indians and activist groups.

You really have to admit, the parallels with what the Democrats are trying to do in our country are stunning.

So, if I ‘give a voice’ to ‘the people’, I can get an award?
Maybe I can learn to write the way Obama backers talk.
    Nope. Sorry.
My brain refuses to slow down that much.

I counter by answering that Hugo Chavez is the Hidden Imam of the Democratic Party

…..” the only surprise here is that he hasn’t yet won a Pulitzer…..”

He has to win the Nobel Peace Prize first, THEN the Pulitzer, THEN an Oscar.

Which makes me think that, instead of letting the most recent crop of buffoons keep the prize, they should turn it into a traveling trophy of sorts. You know, the ones with a little faux brass plate on the base with the current imposter’s name suitably inscribed. Personally, I’d like to put Hugo’s hand prints on the Hollywood walk of fame………one on either side of his face print.

As long as they’re from the bottom of the slab. You could add Barry the Impotent’s and ‘Lil Kim from NK for a perfect trifecta of arrogance.

No doubt it’s really for his work in exposing the evil Martian Capitalists.

But if we’re talking awards, Hugo the Hamster is small penuts for this year’s Biggest Douche in the Universe [BDIU] award (presented by a coalition including afore mentioned Martian Capitalists and the Joosians, who own all the media in the universe).

You’re right, Steve. I thought for a moment there I was reading the Democratic platform. Channeling, channeling….
