IG Is Investigating Benghazi Review Panel (ARB)

From Fox News:

State Department’s Benghazi review panel under investigation, Fox News confirms

By James Rosen | May 02, 2013

The State Department’s Office of Inspector General is investigating the special internal panel that probed the Benghazi terror attack for the State Department, Fox News has confirmed.

The IG’s office is said by well-placed sources to be seeking to determine whether the Accountability Review Board, or ARB — led by former U.N. Ambassador Thomas Pickering and former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Adm. Mike Mullen — failed to interview key witnesses who had asked to provide their accounts of the Benghazi attacks to the panel.

"Failed to interview key witnesses" or made damn well sure they didn’t?

The IG’s office notified the department of the "special review" on March 28, according to Doug Welty, the congressional and public affairs officer of the IG’s office.

This disclosure marks a significant turn in the ongoing Benghazi case, as it calls into question the reliability of the blue-ribbon panel that then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton convened to review the entire matter. Until the report was concluded, she and all other senior Obama administration officials regularly refused to answer questions about what happened in Benghazi…

Then after the report was concluded, Hillary and the rest of the Obama administration said Benghazi was ‘old news.’

But State Department spokesman Patrick Ventrell disputed the characterization of the review, saying it is "simply false" to assert the panel is being investigated.

"Rather, it is conducting a review of the ARB process itself going back two decades, looking at how Boards are convened, their standards, and the implementation of ARB recommendations," he said…

One would have to think it is pretty unusual for an Inspector General to investigate the findings of a blue ribbon panel. Still, ‘what difference does it make, now?’ ‘Benghazi happened a long time ago.’

Meanwhile, even CNN is rousing from its slumbers:

Sources: 3 al Qaeda operatives took part in Benghazi attack

By Paul Cruickshank, Tim Lister, Nic Robertson and Fran Townsend | May 3, 2013

(CNN) — Several Yemeni men belonging to al Qaeda took part in the terrorist attack on the U.S. diplomatic compound in Benghazi last September, according to several sources who have spoken with CNN.

One senior U.S. law enforcement official told CNN that "three or four members of al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula," or AQAP, took part in the attack.

Another source briefed on the Benghazi investigation said Western intelligence services suspect the men may have been sent by the group specifically to carry out the attack. But it’s not been ruled out that they were already in the city and participated as the opportunity arose…

You would think it would be somewhat tricky to plan such a complicated attack around ‘a spontaneous protest over a video.’

The FBI released grainy photographs Wednesday of three men said to have been at the Benghazi compound on the night of the attack, saying it was "seeking information" on them. It is not known whether any of them are the AQAP individuals.

Are we sure those three people the FBI are seeking information from are not: Obama, Hillary Clinton and Eric Holder?

AQAP is regarded as one of the most active and dangerous of al Qaeda franchises… AQAP was the first al Qaeda affiliate to comment on the Benghazi attack. On September 14 it released a statement arguing the attack was revenge for the death of Abu Yahya al-Libi, a senior al Qaeda operative, in Pakistan in June 2012. It did not claim responsibility for the attack.

On September 10 — at least 18 hours before the attack — al Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri, in a video timed for the anniversary of 9/11, called for attacks on Americans in Libya to avenge the death of al-Libi…

Funny how little we heard about that. All we were told at the time was that the attack was due to a YouTube video.

If AQAP sent members thousands of miles to help launch an attack on U.S. diplomats, it would show that even if al Qaeda central remains under pressure, its fellow travelers are finding new ways to continue its campaign of terror.

And yet both Obama and CNN told us (before the elections) the Obama had Al Qaeda on the run.

How cozy for the Dept of States OIG Harold W. Geisel to investigate his own investigative report, when he failed to respond to Senators requests for him to investigate it Benghazi in the first place.

So, Kerry’s promise to put an end to Benghazi’s myths is a joke.

(Harold W. Geisel came out of retirement and assumed duty as Deputy Inspector General for the Department of State and the Broadcasting Board of Governors on June 2, 2008

According to wikipedia…..Geisel the Director of the State OIG heading the foreign terrorist attack against US Ambassador, US Diplomats, and US Security heads the “Broadcasting Board of Governors (BBG)” which is an independent agency of the United States government responsible for all “non-military”, “international broadcasting” sponsored by the U.S government.

“The Voice of America and Radio and TV Marti – the federally funded services of the former Bureau of Broadcasting – along with the Office of Engineering and Technical Services, comprise the IBB.
WORLDNET TV was folded into VOA in 2004[dead link] and no longer exists independently.

The BBG includes the Secretary of State (ex officio) and eight members appointed by the President and confirmed by the U.S. Senate. The first Broadcasting Board of Governors was sworn in on August 11, 1995.

Much criticism has been aimed at DOS OIG head Harold W. Geisel’s running of the BBG to include being called the most worthless organization in the federal govt who know nothing about foreign policy and media aside lacking transparancy.

In April 2010, Senator Tom Coburn held up the appointments of the Obama administration, with the aim of drawing attention to the organization’s perceived ineffectiveness, stating in an interview: “The BBG is the most worthless organization in the federal government. It’s full of people who know nothing about media or foreign policy.”[2] Senator Jim DeMint also attempted to use the nominations to force a hearing on the BBG, after frustrations with a perceived lack of congressional oversight over the organization.[2] Coburn had written an open letter to then-Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell in August 2010 citing “longstanding concerns regarding transparency and effectiveness of our taxpayer funded international broadcasting agencies under the purview of the Broadcasting Board of Governors.”[2]
In early 2013, the AFGE 1812 Local web site carried a series of articles detailing management problems under the BBG.

    (BIO on OIG site)
Mr. Geisel received his bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts from Johns Hopkins University and his master’s in Business Administration from the University of Virginia. He also completed Italian and French language training at the Foreign Service Institute. He serves on the board of directors of the State Department Federal Credit Union.)

Mr. Geisel did not answer U.S. Senators written requests for answers about the Benghazi attack and he’s not about to investigate his own investigation.

Now Sec of State John Kerry is assuring us the myths of Benghazi, caused by politics will be dispelled.
Most likely, Kerry will turn from his hearings where he spoke of mythical war crimes and back Obama up in how the Libyans bravely tried to save Ambassador Stevens.

Benghazi, Fast & Furious, Election Fraud, all need to be brought into the light shining on the D.C. liars.
Well played, “we know all your secrets so you Will do this” and well payed bureaucrats keeping the curtain up to hide the illegal, immoral and dispicable aspects of all of the above. The VIDEO lie is the most blantant on Benghazi and it will never go away. Revised history on these actions may hide it from future generations should the infestation of faux representatives using double speak to assuage the masses over the death of our election laws and the human lives lost due to inept leadership within this administration. The lies coming forth are easily proven as propaganda to keep those responsible from being brought before the few in Washington willing to ask the hard questions and not be intimidated by threats of political reprisal. The surviving embassy employees and military on station kept under wraps long enough. Courageous Seals pinpointing the enemy, awaiting air support ignored by the State Department and a vanishing President.
