According to this story Condit was just some schlub in the wrong place at the wrong time. Never mind that he had an inappropriate affair with a young woman 30 years younger and then basically lied about it to the police, or at least withheld information. The “case” was blamed for ending Condit’s career? Please.

Well at that time, as I’m sure it is today, murder was not out of the realm of possibility for Democrats. Condit was famously a “blue dog”, and this could very well have been an attempt to get that seat a little more liberal, especially because the republican margin in the house was slim back then. But as it has fallen safely into the hands of a fellow “blue dog” man, I guess it no longer matters, and the liberals have a solid majority now. Might as well close this case.
That was my tin-foil hat moment for the day.

So Associated Press does not allow for the use of the phrase “illegal alien from El Salvador.”

Wow. Better add that to my AP Style Guide so I can stay current and correct with any journalism-style writing I need to do.

So what’s the accepted phrase? “A person in the U.S. looking for a job (and/or welfare and health care benefits) who doesn’t happen to have any valid identification?” Yeah, that fits the politically correct bill …
