Immelt To Head Obama Economic Board

From a remarkably un-judgmental New York Times:

Volcker Out, Immelt In on Economic Board

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. — President Obama will name Jeffrey R. Immelt, the chief executive officer and chairman of General Electric, on Friday to run his outside panel of economic advisers, replacing Paul A. Volcker, the former Federal Reserve chairman, who is stepping down, the White House said.

Whatever happened to giving your political cronies ambassadorships? Or would that mean that Mr. Immelt would have to quit his day job.

Speaking of which, has Mr. Obama ever told Mr. Immelt that he makes too much money? Mr. Immelt’s compensation from GE was $9.9 million in 2009.

Mr. Immelt will chair a new Council on Jobs and Competitiveness that Mr. Obama intends to create by executive order. In a statement issued shortly after midnight, Mr. Obama said he wants the council to “focus its work on finding new ways to encourage the private sector to hire and invest in American competitiveness.”

A subject that GE are experts on. After all, working hand in glove with Mr. Obama they have found a way to ship America’s light bulb business to China.

The council will be a reconfigured version of the board Mr. Volcker chaired, the President’s Economic Recovery Advisory Board. That body, created by Mr. Obama when he took office in the thick of the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression, is set to expire on Feb. 6

And look at all of the amazing things this board has accomplished.

The changes signal what the White House describes as “a new phase of our recovery,” a shift from crisis to job creation

So what did they do during the "crisis" phase? But thank goodness they have finally decided to turn their attention to job creation.

Hiring is going to skyrocket now.

They come as Mr. Obama has been working hard to repair his frayed relations with the business community. Mr. Immelt, who was a member of the original board, has been a frequent presence by the president’s side in recent months, as Mr. Obama has sought to spotlight his efforts on behalf of American companies overseas

What a cotton picking minute. Aren’t these the very same overseas companies that Mr. Obama and his stooges demonized throughout the midterm campaign for having given money to the US Chamber of commerce?

What Olympian chutzpah. And our watchdog media won’t even turn a hair.

I used to hold GE in the highest regard.

Now I recognize them as a potent threat to the sovereignty and internal stability of America on par with Goldman Sachs.

$12 light bulbs that emit dangerous sine wave electricity that interferes with both the central nervous system and brain waves replacing 45¢ light bulbs is almost purely the creation of GE. And their front man, er, stooge, was AL GORE.

Time to fumigate the company from top to bottom.

    Wait for it..

“They come as Mr. Obama has been working hard to repair his frayed relations with the business community.”

    Ah, there it is!

See, Haliburton and Cheney – we were doing the bidding of the evil empire. That screamed of nothing but conflict of interest.

The Slimes never fail. Meaning they do nothing but.

In a sane world, Imhelt would be giving Bernie Madoff hickeys in their joint cell.

    • Petronius says:

Amen, Pro. GE stock has lost over half its value on Immelt’s watch.

    • heykev says:

No conflict of interest here. So what if GE also makes jet engines that are dependent on government contracts or Immelt was foolish to get into the windmill business.

Yet, no one seems to care that Immelt also runs a HUGE assortment news and entertainment networks.

Here’s a list from the GE web site of their entertainment brands:
Bravo; CNBC; Chiller; Focus Features; MSNBC; NBC Affiliate Stations; NBC Entertainment; NBC News; NBC Sports & Olympics; Oxygen; Sleuth; Syfy; Telemundo; USA Network; Universal HD; Universal Networks International; Universal Parks & Resorts; Universal Pictures; Universal Studios Home Entertainment; Weather Channel

All working together to help re-elect BHO and destroy America. GE was once a great company. Reagan used to be their spokesman…How quickly they have forgotten.

  4. BigOil says:

Crony capitalism being jammed right in our face. Government Electric has been pushed all in by Immelt – banking on unfettered profits from the ‘green energy’ scam Obama is foisting on our country. I’m not sure if people are ignorant to what’s going on, or they just don’t care.

  5. untrainable says:

President Obama will name Jeffrey R. Immelt on Friday to run his outside panel of economic advisers
Outside panel? How can a man who is so “inside” Obama that he needs to wear a condom, possibly be considered “outside” anything? Imelt has been openly bought and paid for. Another obamaton waiting for instructions from his lord and master.

If Immelt ever knew anything about running a real, honest, American business, we’d still be making and using incandescent light bulbs. How many American jobs were lost to the Chinese mercury “curly fry” light bulb business? And those were GE jobs! Go Jeffy go. Obama is creating jobs alright, they’re all just in other countries.

Obama’s surrounded himself in the White House by picking destructive dumb friends who are running an Enron party.

GE’s quality sucks. Once number one in America, their products went down hill decades ago. They suck.

Now GE will become a leader with Obama strings attached. Like all the new GM dangerous auto recalls,
GE will be focusing more on building green than quality.

    Jeff Immelt……”Crisis Czar”
