Interior Secretary Wants No ‘Deniers’ At The DOI

From the Washington Examiner:

Interior Secretary: I don’t want any climate-change deniers in my department

Buried in a lengthy Washington Post article about President Obama’s environmental policy is an illuminating anecdote about just how debatable the administration views climate change — namely, not at all:

In an agency-wide address to employees Aug. 1, (Interior Secretary Sally) Jewell took the unusual step of suggesting that no one working for her should challenge the idea that human activity is driving recent warming. “I hope there are no climate-change deniers in the Department of Interior,” she said.

This raises some interesting questions: What would happen to somebody at the department who raised some skepticism regarding Jewell’s take on climate change? Would they be in danger of losing their job?

For example, what if that person posted a news article pointing out that the global temperatures have been flat for the last two decades? …

Do you really have to ask? More preposterously, Ms. Jewell went on to claim that we can do something about the climate changing. (As if we could have stopped the last Ice Age, if we had wanted to.)

In any case, we are constantly told that we are anti-science because we are skeptical about man’s ability to change the climate. But what could be more anti-science than publicly announced that you will brook no disagreement?

That is not the position of a scientist. That is the position of a religious zealot.

Follow the leader or follow the line to the exit.
Principles? We don’t need no stinkin’ principles.
Forget the facts, we know what’s right. All those
‘scientists’ are full of hooey anyway. Always
questioning things better left alone. Shame the
inquisition isn’t in vogue anymore, but we’re
working on it. Burn a book for (your choice here).

What? No diversity allowed? Tolerance? Michael Savage is correct: liberalism is a mental disorder.

I don’t deny the Climate. We got Climate. What are the idjits who think Climate is the same as Weather.

Such “zealotry” is not new in the human example. In the past, the notion that a sudden catastrophic event led to the ultimate demise of the thunder-lizards was considered heretical to the “conventional wisdom” of the day.

Anyone who would postulate such an idea was hounded and ridiculed. (Sound familiar?)

In the Scablands of eastern Washington state, no one knew how they were made. One geologist, J Harlan Bretz theorized that the bursting of a glacial dam in the Missoula, Montana region caused the scarring was ridiculed but later proved by one, Jospeh T Pardee.

Science is hard sometimes. The whole concept of a black hole, which is essentially a collapsed star, was dismissed by Einstein as too convenient an excuse. But, thanks to ongoing research, thanks to the thinking human minds that are intensely curious, black holes have become fact.

My point is that all too often, there is politics even in science, as evidenced most vividly by this climate change debacle. In this particular case, the political machine is using it to suck money away from the people. After all, politics is about two and only two things: Power and money which historically have gone hand-in-hand because power needs heavy financing regardless of who has it.

The natural connection is that therefore, the power must also control the science, much the way the Medici controlled the religion of the region so long ago and which put Galileo on house arrest for the rest of his life for his attempted usurpation of the doctrine of the church. Of course, Galileo simply identified a simple truth that we all accept today but the POWER of the day could not have that, as it went against their grain.

With AGW, the conventional wisdom is that man is causing it and must be punished. Shades of Medici methodology come to the fore and guilt, condemnation and punishment are all in the offing. Those who disagree are ridiculed and hounded. Fortunately and at least not yet, they can’t sentence us to torture or even house arrest for disagreeing. But what they CAN do is often more damaging to a society as a whole by channeling the money away from more worthwhile causes and using it to fund the political machine.

I will submit that it is a fine art. But, thanks to so many things that have created the perfect storm resulting in a massively ignorant populace who refuse to be skeptical towards their beloved “leaders”, they are doomed to coughing up their wealth to appease the climate gods, all under the guise of the Medici giving them an indulgence to live a guilt-free life.

It’s disgusting to me. It’s racketeering and all of that in “legal” form. But it is no less nefarious and in violation of basic human tenets of existence. Extortion. “Pay to play”.

So, I submit once again that since ancient times the human has not changed one iota. The flash-in-the-pan that was the United States has given way to the same thug-run systems that were in Babylon, Greece, Rome, etc. How to get as much power and wealth as possible, given a particular political system, has been the hallmark of humanity throughout the ages.

God put us on the Earth to figure this out amongst ourselves and the United States came so very close but it requires that people think of others and the common good, but not the “common good” as portrayed by the socialist ideal. By thinking of others, which means to think of oneself first by becoming productive, ethical, fair-minded and averse to habitual lying, one can be a stronghold of morality but never perfect.

The left exhibits no redeeming qualities when it comes to lust for power or cash. It’s now a crap-fest of them against us and, interestingly, they also are fighting battles of them against themselves. That may be the source of great comedy in the decades to come but for now, it’s merely the billboard that advertises their inability to lead.

Also, look how scientists, military leaders, business
execuitives, fathers, and suchlike are portrayed in the children’s
television shows. This has gone on for years and years. No
wonder they grow up thinking effective people, of both sexes,
are fools, bounders, insane, and so on. Whose idea was it to
    do this? The world wonders…
