Iran: “300″ Is A Fabrication, Insult To Iranians

From Iran’s every inventive Fars News Agency:

Movie “300″ an Insult to Iranians

TEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Iranian Government Spokesman Gholam Hossein Elham described the Warner Brothers film ‘300′ an intrusion of the Iranian culture and fabrication of history, stressing that the movie is considered a hostile move against the Iranian nation.

Cultural intrusion is among the tactics always used by the aliens. Such a fabrication of culture and insult to people is not acceptable by any nation or government and we consider this attitude as hostile,” Elham said while speaking to reporters during his weekly press briefing here in Tehran on Tuesday…

You see, the Persians had no problems at Thermopylae.

Yeah…I guess that’s why Greece was conquered by the Persians.

Oh, wait..THE GREEKS CLEANED THE PERSIANS’ CLOCKS!!!!

Just remember, Sparta was master of the arts of war, and Athens the master of all the arts. The western world owes a debt of infinite gratitude to Leonidas.

As Pheidippides said after the Athenians defeated the Persians at Marathon, “Rejoice! We conquer!” Or was it “Nike!”…maybe someone who speaks Classical Greek can clarify that.

Next we need to make a movie about how the ferocious Iranians fought Iraq to an eight year tie while it took the US less than a week to utterly kick the shiite out of Iraq.

Girlymen always hate to admit that they are Girlymen.

The Battle of Marathon, 490 BC
The battle of Marathon is one of history’s most famous military engagements. It is also one of the earliest recorded battles. Their victory over the Persian invaders gave the fledgling Greek city states confidence in their ability to defend themselves and belief in their continued existence. The battle is therefore considered a defining moment in the development of European culture.

In September of 490 BC a Persian armada of 600 ships disgorged an invasion force of approximately 20,000 infantry and cavalry on Greek soil just north of Athens. Their mission was to crush the Greek states in retaliation for their support of their Ionian cousins who had revolted against Persian rule.

Undaunted by the numerical superiority of the invaders, Athens mobilized 10,000 hoplite warriors to defend their territory. The two armies met on the Plain of Marathon twenty-six miles north of Athens. The flat battlefield surrounded by hills and sea was ideal for the Persian cavalry. Surveying the advantage that the terrain and size of their force gave to the Persians, the Greek generals hesitated.

One of the Greek generals - Miltiades - made a passionate plea for boldness and convinced his fellow generals to attack the Persians. Miltiades ordered the Greek hoplites to form a line equal in length to that of the Persians. Then - in an act that his enemy believed to be complete madness - he ordered his Greek warriors to attack the Persian line at a dead run. In the ensuing melee, the middle of the Greek line weakened and gave way, but the flanks were able to engulf and slaughter the trapped Persians. An estimated 6,400 Persians were slaughtered while only 192 Greeks were killed.

“aliens” translation? I wonder what was the literal translation, sub-human, non-human, infidel, or non-islamo-facist.

    Another great Persian defeat,

    EyeWitnesstoHistory.com

Alexander Defeats The Persians, 331 BC
Alexander began his war against the Persians in 334 BC. At the time the Macedonian leader was twenty-two years old. At his death eleven years later, Alexander ruled the largest empire of the ancient world. His victory at the battle of Gaugamela on the Persian plains was a decisive conquest that insured the defeat of his Persian rival King Darius III.

Darius was prepared for battle having selected this spot to meet his enemy. After his defeat at Issus two years previously, Darius made sure that this battleground favored his army and its tactics - particularly the use of his feared scythe-wheeled chariots. The ground here was flat, perfect for chariots. Darius made it even flatter by ordering the terrain plowed and leveled. All was ready and on October 1, 331 BC the Persian army of possibly 200,000 (ancient texts exaggerate the number up to 1 million) faced off against Alexander’s 35,000. The Macedonian leader immediately sized up the Persian’s tactical advantage and countered by ordering his cavalry to shift to the right hoping to move his enemy away from its flat field. Darius took the bait ordering his troops to follow. Soon the Persians found themselves on rough, rock-strewn terrain. Seeing the thinning Persian line, Alexander led the charge that crashed through to the Persian rear. As at the battle of Issus, Darius fled, leaving the field and victory to Alexander.

Again, we see very clearly (thanks to 1st and eyewitnesstohistory.com) that a fanatical Islamic government has a problem with a little something called R-E-A-L-I-T-Y.

  7. wardmama4

Ahmadinejad et al just want to gin up the terrorists who are probably trying to cross the border back into Iran now that the ‘cavalry’ is moving north to do real damage.

BTW, is there anything that does not ‘insult’ islam and muslims?

I’m guessing that the Iranian school system might be worse than our own public school system. It’s all about feeeeelings and ‘face’ rather than facts. Bunch of smelly whiners.

I pray daily for our young men and women who put themselves on the front lines for us. Sundays get a special prayer during mass.
Their families are too very much in my prayers. May their hearts be a little at peace, so that they can sleep at night.

Pheidippides said “Νενικήκαμεν!” which translates to “we were victorious”! Then died on the spot.

SG: Much obliged. I like to be historically accurate…especially when it POs freakazoids like Ahmadinejad and his little stooge.

If you say an untruth over and over does it become fact? Only to the human cattle. I am not going to apoligize to the Dem leaders for telling their method. My Marine son’s name is Michael and his second tour in Iraq is over next month. Prayers always welcome. He turned 24 on March 1.

Uh, it’s about a historical event. A holy buttload of Persians really did get their butts whipped by a relatively tiny number of Greeks. While I haven’t seen the movie, and don’t know what’s added from the comic series, the basic fact remains the same. Persia really attacked, Persia got beat down like an Iranian woman who exposed her ankles in public, and finally Persia got around the Greek force because the Phoecians screwed up–and for all the idea they were supposed to be so noble, they continued on their objective–the complete destruction of Athens.

    These are facts.

  22. amber

I read The Gates of Fire, great book, about the same time I saw One Night With the King. I had to do a little research and I found out that Xerxes was the king of Persia, yes, but also, durring the battle for Thermoplae, the Queen of Persia was Esther, a Jew. I wonder how the Iranian president would feel about that little detail, or maybe he might suggest that that was why the Persians lost in the end.

I am thinking I will have a few problems with 300, but am waiting to see it. There were more than just the 300 Spartans fighting and to minimize their contribution is false. Also making the Spartans appear more than human minimizes their accomplishment and their dedication. But, I have not seen it, only the previews. I hope it does not make them out to be gods. That would be sad. I have a lot of respect for fwhat they did, how they trained, how they lived, especially because they were human, they did have feelings and people who they loved, mothers, wives, and children. I wish I could go back in time and observe them up close for a short while, they were fascinating.

  23. Voice of Reason

    I have seen the film.

There are some factual liberties taken. But the core of the story remains. 300 Spartans held off the Persian army so that the Greeks could regroup and finally finish them off. It showed this to be a brutal conflict, devoid of compassion or remorse. The tactical insight is there, as is the treachery. There are some areas where they play a little fast and loose with the facts….but this isn’t a History Channel documentary like piece. It is a big screen Hollywood epic. And while the core of the story remains firmly intact, some liberty was taken with ancillary incidnets and characters.

As I satated in another thred, if you are into Frank Miller, history, war and battle history….must see film.

Apparently, they’re not done whining about it.

Meanwhile, The Sum of All Fears has been edited so it won’t offend muslims, and in nearly every ‘terrorist-attack’ show except 24 the terrorists are all white guys so muslims won’t get offended.

Yet they’re pissing and moaning and whining and talking about ‘assaults on their culture’–as if we actually wanted their culture.

Am I the only one wondering if mebbe all this effort to not offend muslims is wasted time?
