Iran Uses Force To Break Up Protests

From an approving Associated Press:

Iranian police use force to break up protest

By Nasser Karimi And Jim Heintz, Associated Press Writer

TEHRAN, Iran – Riot police attacked hundreds of demonstrators with tear gas and fired live bullets in the air to disperse a rally in central Tehran Monday, carrying out a threat by the country’s most powerful security force to crush any further opposition protests over the disputed presidential election.

Witnesses said helicopters hovered overhead as about 200 protesters gathered at Haft-e-Tir Square. But hundreds of anti-riot police quickly put an end to the demonstration and prevented any gathering, even small groups, at the scene.

At the subway station at Haft-e-Tir, the witnesses said police did not allow anyone to stand still, asking them to keep on walking and separating people who were walked together. The witnesses asked not to be identified for fear of government reprisals.

Just before the clashes, an Iranian woman who lives in Tehran said there was a heavy police and security presence in another square in central Tehran. She asked not to be identified because she was worried about government reprisals.

"There is a massive, massive, massive police presence," she told the Associated Press in Cairo by telephone. "Their presence was really intimidating." …

Weirdly, this Associated Press report makes it sound like the Iranian ‘security forces’ haven’t been using force hitherto.

They must be listening to Mr. Obama.

SG .. “Weirdly, this Associated Press report makes it sound like the Iranian ‘security forces’ haven’t been using force hitherto.”

They must of missed that TV broadcast that said .. “The statement came after at least 13 people were killed and 20 wounded in post-vote unrest in the Iranian capital on Saturday.”

Or maybe it didn’t fit their desired template. Just sayin’, ya know.

In any case, you can bet Neopolitano and crew are watchin’ and takin’ notes!

How many people is Obamy willing to kill to win in 2012.

If he passes Universal Health Scare, the number will probably be in the hundreds of thousands by 2012. Or more likely, more than a million.

  3. Petronius says:

Too bad the Iranian people are unarmed. One of the lessons learned from the Iranian demonstration is the value of 2d Amendment rights for the success of a popular uprising. Under those conditions, the Iranian security forces might have caved a few days ago.

.. and that’s likely not going unnoticed by the o-blah-blah debacle.

Watch for more aggressive and frequent “Gun Control” efforts.

We need 2nd amendment rights more than ever. Growing Gangs, Mexicans, Home-grown Muslim terrorists, Thieves, and Obama’s special rapport and sweet talk with the world’s worst tyrants, and his plans to have prisoners working on construction and renovations.
