Over thirty years ago I went to school with a classmate who used to live in Iran. At that time I didn’t know where Iran was nor even know such a country even existed. When I asked what it was like to live there he told me something that I’ve never forgotten. In his words, whenever something great or small went wrong, the Americans were to blame for it all. And this was during the time of the Shah, years before Ayatollah Khomeini came to power. For the Iranians to blame us for the bombing is nothing new. They’re just drawing from their true nature, rather than focus on admitting the problems are of their own making.
