Iraq Out Of Olympics For ‘Interference’

From an overjoyed Associated Press:

IOC says Iraq won’t be allowed at Olympics

LAUSANNE, Switzerland - The International Olympic Committee says Iraq will not compete at the Beijing Games because of interference by its government in sport.

The IOC suspended Iraq’s national Olympic committee in June after the Baghdad-based government dismissed elected officials and installed its own people who are not recognized by the IOC.

The IOC Charter forbids political interference in the Olympic movement.

Iraq missed a Wednesday deadline to submit a team for the Aug. 8-24 Beijing Games because of a stalemate between the two sides. Four Iraqi athletes were expected to compete, in archery, judo, rowing and weightlifting.

The IOC says the Iraqi government did not accept an invitation to come to its headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland, to try to end the dispute.

Surely, this is a cruel joke.

The International Olympic Committee says Iraq will not compete at the Beijing Games because of interference by its government in sport.

“Interference”? Does the name Uday Hussain ring a bell with any of the Olympic officials.

Torture devices used by Uday Hussein, son of Saddam Hussein, on members of Iraq’s Olympic team as tools of punishment for bad performance.

But that was okay. Saddam and company undoubtedly paid the IOC enough baksheesh to get them to turn a blind eye.

And never mind what the Communist Chinese are currently doing.

What an absolute farce.

    mmm…

    This smells big time.

Perhaps the image of FREE Iraqis competing in the Olympics would simply look too positive to the World.

Giving a perception of how tremendous it is to have Saddam gone, and remind the World of how admirable the US Led Mission to help the Iraqis build their own Democracy actually is, may not have been something the Liberal Partisans could handle.

Obama and the rest of the Code Pinkers, might have had to confront the reality that their opposition to the fight for Liberty was wrong.

Perhaps this was far too much of a risk for the IOC.

In so many ways, GW Bush’s Leadership has been outstanding. The World is vastly improved, with Islamic Militancy being directly confronted. After all the garbage left after the 8 negligent Clinton Years, things have been painfully turned around for the better.

Al Qaeda must be looking back, wishing Al Gore had won the 2000 Election.

I for one will be watching re-runs of “The Shield” before I deign to watch any Olympics. It’s a bore from start to finish. Especially considering where the event is being staged this time. The Commies running the place build jpublic schools in earthquake zones out of tinker toys & mud yet spend billions on this.

The Olympics don’t even have decent commercials like the Super Bowl. What’s the point?

I’ll be watching game tapes of high school football. That’s a real sport. No socialists allowed.

the al aqsa martyr’s brigade team was accidently killed when a member of the shoe bombers team opened the wrong gym bag….

and the women of the Maadi army in Sadr City are feverishly making back up knee pads for Maliki and his cabinet…..

the sunni led women’s swim team almost drowned while trying to do laps wrapped in quilts…

a group of ex Republican Guard officers were detained for showing up in Bejing wearing nothing but cross country skis….

The main reason for Iraq being banned was their insistence on wearing OBAMAMANIA T shirts at the opening ceremonies…..

Yeh, funny how Saddam’s Olympic officials weren’t “political”. I’ve never liked the Modern Olympic movement. The assinine way the 72 Olympics were handled. Allowing the Communist professionals under the guise of amateurs. The farce keeps getting worse and worse. Maybe the Chinese could “reeducate” these clowns running the Olympics.

  6. Liberals Make Great Speedbumps

Yes, politics has never poisoned the purity of the Olympics before now. Heaven help us should that change. Do these IOC morons live in the same alternate reality that the UN does?

Yet another reason not to watch NBC’s Obama ad marathon.

This is absolute crap!!! The olympics is not for anyone to decide who can and cannot compete!! It never belonged to anyone. If you want to compete, qualify and compete, simple as that. And a bunch of old men deciding who can and cannot compete is BS!!! Its like blind people deciding who may and may not read and what!!! The olympics is a world event and anyone from anywhere must be allowed to compete, doesnt matter what their leaders are doing. Hennie Du Toit Bloemfontein South Africa!!

    Update!!!

    From the AP:

IOC gives Iraq OK to take part in Beijing Games

The reversal comes after Baghdad pledges to ensure the independence of its national Olympics panel.

AUSANNE, SWITZERLAND — The International Olympic Committee agreed Tuesday to allow Iraq to participate in the Beijing Games, reversing itself after Baghdad pledged to ensure the independence of its national Olympics panel…
