Hundreds detained by Iraqi army
Oct. 4 - More than 200 wanted suspects were arrested by the Iraqi army in a large operation against insurgents last week in Diyala province and were put on display in Baquba.
Diyala is a volatile, ethnically-mixed area northeast of the capital that has seen some of the worst violence over recent months.
Soundbite, Commander of the 5th division of the Iraqi army (Arabic):
"We have arrested 251 wanted terrorists from a number of networks including Ansar al-Sunna group, Jamaat al Tawheed wa al Jihad, the 20th Revolution Brigades and a number of Saddam’s followers and militiamen."
Some good news for a change.

Well, let’s get them their standard issue prayer rugs and qurans and book them a deluxe suite at club Gitmo.
On second thought, let’s just let the Iraqis handle it. And encourage them to be creative.

Here’s an idea~! Sunni’s hate Shiites….Shiites hate Sunnis…..Kurds hate both of them, and vice versa….sooooooooooooo……from Tikrit north….Kurdistan. From Falluja west…Sunniland. From Bagdad south…Shiitecreek. Three separate entities, all sects move to their respective “areas”, and quit this bullshit sectarian violence.
Oh, the Sunni’s sector doesnt have any oil? Well, that is why they took power thirty years ago! They had their run, and if they wish to be a part of a peaceful albiet divided Iraq, they will just have to get along, wont they? yeah, like the Democratic party will actually stop cheating to win seats too.
I say, divide and conquer. Any sector that continues violence gets absolutely no support from the US or anyone else. Yeah, I know…but that is a big desert…lots of room to detonate “things” that disuade terrorists…

sheehanjihad, what you stated was the James Baker plan for Iraq, it’s was an option mentioned after the fall of Iraq and used as leverage to form the new Iraq government. My opinion it’s the best solution.
