Israel makes arrests in alleged plot against Bush

JERUSALEM (Reuters) - Israel accused six Arabs on Friday of trying to set up an al Qaeda cell in Israel and said one of them had proposed attacking helicopters used during a visit by President George W. Bush.
Israel’s Shin Bet counter-intelligence agency said one of the suspects had used his mobile phone to film helicopters at a sports stadium in Jerusalem that was used as a landing site for Bush’s delegation.
The suspect then posted queries on Web sites frequented by al Qaeda operatives, asking for guidance on how to shoot down the helicopters, the agency said in a statement…
The Shin Bet identified four of the suspects as Palestinian residents of Arab East Jerusalem and two as Israeli Arabs.
The Shin Bet said the men had met several times at Jerusalem’s al-Aqsa mosque, seeking to organize a local al Qaeda network. The agency said computers seized from several of the suspects contained bomb-making manuals…
Ho hum. Another day and another plot by terrorists to kill the President.
But imagine the media’s outrage if this were President Obama.

Thank you Israel.
Although, this is another sign of the amazing progress we have witnessed since post 9-11, these Terrorist Fools are getting busted
The Bush Administration has been outstanding in the Global War on Terror, along with increased cooperation with numerous Allies of the Free World, sharing INTEL, etc.
Long ago, during the negligent Clinton Era, this threat would have been ignored, hidden, excused, etc.
Even if the Israelis busted the plot during Bill’s vapid tenure, he would have turned down taking the terrorists captive, encouraged having intelligence gathered, etc., just as he foolishly rejected taking Osama into US custody.
(Funny, how Democrats now obsess about capturing Osama, and Bill Clinton could have imprisoned him…)
Times have changed, and the killers like al Qaeda, are eager for the end of the successful Bush Presidency.
They know their only chance is with fools like Pelosi, Reid, Clinton, Feingold, Boxer, etc…

When is the next Bush trip to Israel scheduled? I didn’t think there was one? Still, I suppose it doesn’t hurt to be prepared.
You know, with O’Bomber coming to Israel soon, I wonder if they’ll practice on him? I mean, just because they want him to win doesn’t mean they would pass up an opportunity to attack “the great satan” would it?

Anyone want to be the first to link to the efforts by Kos readers to get these folks out of jail on these “obviously baseless charges?”
Perhaps Obama can visit the Israeli government next week and urge them to free these men immediately as of course they never took action, they were just discussing it, since there’s no actual proof they were linked to al Qaeda, and by liberal principles that means they’re harmless.

How long until Israel releases these terrorists? Maybe if Hezbola kidnapps and tortures and murders another Iraeli soldier these terrorists will get to go home, well fed and in better health than before.
Sorry, I am just really upset with the pansy tactics of Olmert. He needs to go. I do not understand why they listen to the world and are nice to these arses. There is no Palestine. Jordan and Gaza, and the west bank and lots more land was given to them by the brits a long long time ago and then the world decided to give land to the crying muslims and then the muslims cried some more so they gave more land to them until Israel is a tiny dot of the orriginal agreement and then the muslims still are not happy. The Israelis were there before the land was given them. The “Palestinians” were just wondering idots until Israel came. The muslims told them the Israelis would kill them and eat their children so many of them fled of their own accord. When will Israel grow a pair??
