Jesse Jackson: Apartheid Still Remains In US

From The Hill:

‘Apartheid remains’ in US, Jackson says

By Rebecca Shabad | December 08, 2013

Rev. Jesse Jackson said Sunday apartheid still exists in the United States as he reflected on Nelson Mandela’s effect on American politics.

“Apartheid remains. Apartheid gaps in poverty, healthcare and education. We’re in the middle of the end of the apartheid struggle now, but it’s just changed phases,” he said on NBC News’s “Meet the Press.”

“For almost 30 years, we had a lead jump on the right to vote and used that right to vote to empower allies in South Africa,” Jackson said.

Maybe the Reverend Jackson doesn’t know the meaning of the word "apartheid." After all, he still doesn’t seem to know that the current South African government requires a photo ID to vote.

(Speaking of language, what is a "lead jump"?)

Jackson is expected to attend the Dec. 15 funeral for the former South African president, who died late Thursday in Johannesburg at 95…

If there will be cameras there, Mr. Jackson will be there.

Rev. Al Sharpton said on "Meet the Press" people are trying to “sugarcoat” the U.S.’s initial indifference to Mandela’s efforts and the African National Congress. Many communist countries embraced them, he said.

It seems to us that the ‘sugar-coating’ comes from ignoring the fact that Mr. Mandela and the ANC were calling for a Communist take-over of South Africa. Was it wrong for the US to oppose a Communist take-over of such an important country in the middle of the Cold War?

“This country did not, and fought that. I think that for us now to sugarcoat that is a betrayal of history. We chose sides, we chose the wrong side,” Sharpton said…

For some odd reason, Mr. Sharpton believes the US has always been on the wrong side of history, vis a vis Communism.

Jackson, Sharpton, Clinton, the other Clinton, nerobama, Sheila Jackson Lee, Quannell X, etc. etc. etc. These people are all going to Mandela’s funeral so they can compete with each other to be the “best” mourner. It’s disgusting.

  2. I am disgusted beyond words George W and Laura are (1) going to attend Mandela’s witchcraft sendoff and (2) are traveling with the Obama’s.

Jackson is beneath my contempt ..

      My thoughts exactly, GBJ.

Ditto for Prince Charles, who should know better inasmuch as many white refugees from South Africa now live in Britain.

      Netanyahu is not going.

I want to be as far apart from the Rev. and his ilk as possible. You’d think
that riding a dead horse would be discouraging, but as long as some folks
will contribute money to revive it, they’ll continue flogging it. Now if we can
only get the Hydrogen Di-Oxide out of our drinking water…
