Jackson Wants UK Reparations For Slavery

From those celebrants of the gorgeous mosaic at BBC NEWS:

Jackson calls for slavery apology

US civil rights activist Jesse Jackson has called on Britain to apologise and make reparations for its role in the slave trade.

During a visit to Bristol, the Rev Jackson, 65, said he was disappointed that British cities had not apologised.

Speaking at the Empire and Commonwealth Museum, the Rev Jackson said: “There must be some place to apologise for the wrong in a moral sense.”

Bristol has never formally apologised for its links to slavery.

In 1982, however, the former Bishop Of Clifton, Mervyn Alexander asked forgiveness for the human misery caused by the trade

“It does not surprise me but it disappoints me that there has been no apology,” said the Rev Jackson.

Operation Black Vote said the Economics of Colour event in the city had celebrated the “political dynamism” of the city’s black and minority ethnic communities.

More than 500 supporters rose to their feet as the Rev Jackson took to the stage.

Mr Jackson will also visit Birmingham, Leicester, Nottingham, Liverpool, Manchester, Sheffield and Bradford during his week-long tour.

It should go without saying that the Reverend Jackson has obviously never cracked a history book in his life.

Instead, he should be thanking Britain for leading the war against slavery around the world.

Meanwhile, Mr. Jackson’s distant cousins are still practicing slavery in parts of Africa to this day.

Sure thing Jesse, Just as soon as you produce someone who was an actual slave.

Hey Jesse! What about those murders in Newark? Huh? Huh? I can’t hear you, you stupid blubbering idiot!

Well SG you went to where I was going to start - slavery is STILL a problem in Afrika and I am sure that the Afrikans were helping (probably because they had been doing it for centuries) way back when it started for ‘white’ people.

And Jesse Jackson really needs to stop keeping the black people in the victim mode and lift them up - is the man of a Christian religion? Because if he is, then he is violating his own religion by not forgiving and helping his people to move onward and upward (not to mention keeping up the hate, anger, bitterness and divisiveness between the races alive).

But then how would he get and keep his name in the news, if he wasn’t keeping hate and race baiting on the front page? Certainly not by any stellar work he is doing.

Sure thing Jesse, Just as soon as you produce someone who was an actual slave.

Yeah - or someone who was an actual slave owner.

This is comparable to someone suing me because of something my late grandfather did to their late grandfather - I wasn’t there, I wasn’t part of it, and I’m not responsible.

But this is typical of liberals - someone besides the actual perpetrator of a crime, abuse, or action is always to blame. Unless, of course, said perpetrator is a conservative or Republican.

    In regards to wardmama4’s comment,
“But they do all their deeds to be noticed by men; for they broaden their phylacteries [public written prayers] and lengthen the tassels {of their garments.} They love the place of honor at banquets and the chief seats in the synagogues, and respectful greetings in the market places, and being called Rabbi [Reverend] by men. But do not be called Rabbi; for One is your Teacher, and you are all brothers.”
    Matthew23:5-7

I would say very little of what this man does is motivated by the teachings, life and sacrifice of Jesus Christ

Well, Jessah has seen how easily the Brits are caving to the Islamists, so of course he smells more money, and his time worn demand for apologies or reparations have only moved across the ocean.

At any rate, calling him “reverend” is tantamount to calling Bill Clinton “celibate”. What a total ass.

  7. mark

    Hey Jesse, kiss my ass.

  8. DEZ

LMAO mark, Straight to the point.

Poor Jesse can’t find a single place on the planet that hasn’t wronged him in the past, Or a single human that doesnt owe him an apology and mounds of cash.
    What an opossums pecker.
    Hey Jesse, Pucker up.

I’ve heard different proposals for reparations, those being payments to Africa in general (because millions $$ in aid every year doesn’t count), and payments to the descendants to slaves. Here’s my question: any reparations (I like how they only mean “money” by that word) would come from taxpayers, which doubtless includes plenty of contributing black people. So we would be using money from some blacks to give to other blacks to make them all feel better about slavery? As well as money from the descendants of families that were in China or Greenland at the time?

And then, once the ball of reparations has gotten rolling, is Saudi Arabia going to be paying us reparations for 9/11? And is England going to pay us reparations for all the oppression of the colonies before the Revolutionary War? And so on and so forth.

  10. doingwhatican

When will Jesse Jackson apologize for his role in slavery?

Having exhausted his credibility in the U.S., Jackson launches a new initiative to shake down Brits. Has he made the same demands of muslim Arab nations?

I am from Brazil. The slave trade had its first stop at the port of Salvador (Brazil’s first capital), where a large (if not the largest) number of slaves were sold. The Caribbean was the next stop.
Today, Salvator is called The Most African city the country with over 80% of the population being of African origins.
It was Englang, though, who forced Brazil to free the slaves by imposing sanctions. Whether their only interest was to sell their manufactured soap or not, it worked well for the slaves.
Withm all the respect, Rev. Jackson, and all the admiration I have for you. Let us concentrate in the present and future of all peoples.

    Spelling and grammar correction:

With all the respect, Rev. Jackson, and all the admiration I have for you, let us focus on the present and the future of all peoples of all colors.

Excuse me, but isn’t this the same “reverend” Jackson who sired an out-of-wedlock child while he was serving as a spiritual (heh!) adviser to the Clintons during Bill’s impeachment? Isn’t this the same guy who still tearfully claims to gullible audiences that he cradled and comforted the dying Dr. Martin Luther King Jr in his arms even though Ralph Abernathy was the one who actually held King while Jackson was cowering in the Memphis motel parking lot below the balcony where King was shot? Isn’t this the same Jesse Jackson who offered a scholarship to the false accuser of the Duke University lacrosse players? The American people deserve reparations from this shameless divisive racial huckster.

Until blacks can view their history as just that, history, they will have a tough time ever moving on with their culture and lives. Racebaiters like jesse and al ’shakedown’ sharpton won’t ever let that happen because they would then be out of a job, if you can call racial extortion a job. If blacks could only understand this, they might collectively run these scammers out of town, so to speak. Scum, pure scum.

Just about every European nation with a port on the Atlantic participated in the slave trade. Nevertheless, shouldn’t Mr. Jackson look at the place where the “candidates” for slavery were “found”. The very folks who escorted the future slaves to the waiting ships (admittedly of foreign origin) were Africans themselves, neighbors, as it were, of the people they were selling. Yes! Surprisingly enough, real actual African people sold their own people into slavery.
Perhaps this fact is the source of the problem… people who are afflicted with this problem of needing to blame someone and seek reparation may be unable to accept the actual fact that it was their own ancestors who sold their ancestors into slavery to begin with. It is much easier to look outside the source of the problem, particularly if one is related to it, for someone to blame, however, in this particular case, it would seem only just for Mr. Jackson et al to go to Senegal or Mali or Ivory Coast, and ask them for reparation before he approaches nations to which the transport agencies belonged.
I am also curious as to why Mr. Jackson concentrates only on English speakers. Slavers sailed from Portugal, Spain, and France as well). Is it that he cannot speak those languages, or is it that he is unaware, or is it that he has some secret arrangement with those countries that he will not nag them with his obsession?

  16. gibsonz

Looks like ol` “shake-em-down” Jackson has taken his side show on a world tour…anywhere there is a camera rolling and money you can bet he isn`t far behind!

  17. Lokki

Can the Jews get reparations from the Egyptians?

  18. The Redneck

Apparently, the Egyptians have at least twice tried to sue the Jews for the valuables they took in the Exodus–apparently when the pharoah said “Take whatever you want, just get the hell out so your God doesn’t skull-@#$#@ us!”, he didn’t really mean it.

eagleman, J.J didn’t sire, he spawned.

  20. 64dodger

I want Jeessee to apologize to me for being a dumb ass.

    What a moron.

  21. Patrick1952

I was born and raised in England. In the past my country and my ancestors were invaded and enslaved by Saxons, French, Romans, and Vikings,. I demand reparations from Germany, France, Italy, and all Scandanavian countries.

  22. Patrick1952

By the way, my country has now been invaded by Muslims whose goal is the oppression of my countrymen. Where do I apply for my reparations from Islam?

  23. BannedbytheTaliban

Can the Christians get reparations from Rome, I guess now Italy. At least they didn’t feed Africans to the lions for entertainment.

  24. wardmama4

prettysmartone - you not only hit dead on the problem with this slavery reparations crock - but also one of the main problems with a large segment of the American black population - always holding out their hands, blaming others and/or ‘past’ horrors for their current situation. As pointed out by later commentors - most every country has been invaded, conquered and enslaved at some time in history - therefore we all owe each other for everything - past, present and future? Lets just write - life is hell and get on with living and trying to make it better for the future?!? Is that really that hard?

The hypocracy and insanity of the position is just so liberal garbage - and it is time to put the insane back into the asylum and get about real life.

BTW - Jesse is the product of his 16 year old mother having an affair with a married man - which fastforwarding to 2000 - Jesse became the married man producing the illegitimate child. He is supposedly a Baptist - from what I know about Baptists - none of this behavior is acceptable for a member much less a Reverand.

The apple really does not fall far from the tree. Some great mind said - Our children become what we are, not what we tell them to be.

  25. bousquem

Jackson is a loser, he seems to think that if your black you can do no wrong and deserve to be compansated for something hundreds of years ago. It also is not fair to try and get people to pay money to people that had slaves as ancestors when alot of people had ancestors that were in other countries and/or never involved in slavery or lived in states that banned slavery. My ancestors were poles that were farming till around 1900 or were trappers way up in Canada marrying native american brides, how is it my responsibility to pay for slavery, is it because I’m white? That must be Jesse Jackson’s reasoning, your white therefore you need to pay for slavery.
