‘Jihad Rehab’ Possible For Gitmo Detainees

From those champions of penal reform at CNN:

‘Jihadi rehab’ is a possibility for post-Gitmo

From Nic Robertson

(CNN) — U.S. lawmakers considering the closure of the controversial Guantanamo Bay detention center will probably be looking at a rehabilitation program in Saudi Arabia that focuses on religious re-education for captured jihadists…

Since the 2003 bombings in Riyadh that killed dozens there have been no major attacks in the kingdom, they point out.

Libya is using a similar philosophy of religious re-education, moving away from brutal treatment of militants in jails, and Pakistan is also looking at it.

The program focuses on religious re-education for young men, all in their late teens to early 30s, captured while engaged in terrorist activities.

Of the 218 people who have taken part, only nine have since been rearrested after trying to rejoin al Qaeda, Saudi officials told CNN

The key to the government-run scheme’s success is the way it uses imams, or religious teachers, to explain to the young, radicalized Muslims that not everyone can issue a fatwa.

It tells them that what they have been taught previously is wrong: You cannot just go and kill someone.

In an al Qaeda cell, one person will issue a fatwa to justify whatever violent action the group will take, but the rehabilitation program makes clear that to issue a fatwa you must be a well-trained, experienced imam

The program came about after the Saudi government recognized that locking up the young radicalized Muslims and mistreating them in jail was counterproductive and served only to foment anger in the Islamic world…

Officials realize that it will never be 100 percent successful, and it is labor-intensive and expensive, but it may very well be among the approaches that U.S. officials will consider as they work out how to close the Guantanamo Bay detention facility and rehabilitate the 700 or so prisoners.

Years in Guantanamo did not convince these miscreants of the errors of their ways, but a few Sunday School classes will? (Or rather, Friday School.)

And it all depends upon convincing terrorists that some imams are better than others? That some fatwas are more authoritative than others?

We are highly skeptical.

After all, even our favorite imams who comprise the Standing Committee for Academic Research and Issuing Fatwas at Islam Q & A are big proponents of jihad.

They have declared that doing jihad is even better than going on Hajj. And Hajj is considered the single most religious obligation in Islam.

Here’s a suggestion. Why not try exorcism? At least that is something many Muslims believe in.

Of course stoning is yet another tried and true way to drive out such personal demons.

Yeah, that’s a great idea! It worked out so well for the other Gitmo Detainee that went through it.

On the other hand, summary execution without benefit of trial has yielded a 100% success rate in the battle to overcome recidivism of captured Islamic terrorists. Authorities have said that not one of the terrorists that has undergone the treatment prescribed in this program has rejoined a terrorist cell and perpetrated another terrorist act. The cost of administering this program is a mere 1% of the average ‘Jihad Rehab’ program resulting in significant cost savings.

(Well. I can dream, can’t I. It could happen.)

      Cost effective solution……..I love it!!

You could probably staff it 24/7 with volunteers. I’d do my patriotic duty.

If the number of prisoners dried up suddenly, there would be an accompanying drop in the amount of detainees to rehabilitate later. This is like giving your dog alka seltzer to cure his rabies.

  4. VMAN says:

    I got your re-education!!! It’s called a frontal lobotomy!!! 100% success rate!!!

  5. sheehanjihad says:

This is what released detainees can be expected to do. If they would have actually tortured ajmi, perhaps he would have been physically unable to kill himself and others? Obama has no freaking clue. Talking to them is weakness. Yeah, let them all go, you freakin idiot.

Abu Juheiman al Kuwaiti, also known as Abdullah Salih al AjmiAjmi was released from Guantanamo Bay and was searching for “a way to reconnect with the jihad.” He claimed he was tortured while at Guantanamo Bay.

Ajmi “is seemingly responsible for an earlier truck bombing at the Iraqi Army HQ in the Harmat neighborhood of Mosul on March 23, 2008,” said Kazimi. The attack occurred at Combat Outpost Inman, an Iraqi Army base that served as the headquarters for the 1st Battalion, 3rd Brigade of the 2nd Iraqi Army Division.

If this “government-run scheme” is so successful, why not teach it now to all Muslims? Why wait?

I enjoyed the exorcism suggestion, but I don’t think the Pope (or ACLU) would ever let it happen.

Bomber’s Martyrdom Tape Renews Fears Over Consequences of Closing Gitmo

    Tuesday, January 27, 2009

Terrorist Abdallah Ali al-Ajmi talks about his time at Guantanamo Bay in this martyrdom tape obtained exclusively by FOX News.

As President Obama pushes for the closure of Guantanamo Bay prison, the debate over where to house the terror detainees being held there is heating up.

An exclusive video of a former Gitmo detainee’s martyrdom tape, obtained by FOX News, is a reminder of the concerns that terror suspects — who have been held but released from Guantanamo Bay — are increasingly returning to the fight against the United States and its allies.

Abdallah Ali al-Ajmi was transferred back to his home country of Kuwait after his release from Guantanamo in 2005. Last April he blew himself up in a homicide attack that killed 12 people in Mosul, Iraq.

Al-Ajmi, known in Guantanamo as Detainee 220, made his martyrdom tape before the

I want a few of them to come down on the work-release program at the shooting range. We could use the help.

  9. 12 Gauge Rage says:

These jihadists don’t want to be rehabilitated. They just want to kill to earn their place in paradise. So it all boils down to an eternity of sex in the hereafter as their reward. Of course as for the seventy-two virgins there is no mention of their ages nor their dispositions. Wouldn’t it be the ultimate punishment for these jihadists to spend all eternity with seventy-two shrewish, nagging virgins?

  10. Odie44 says:

So the liberal nanny staters want to over turn millions of radical Islamisists, thousands of hours of jihad brain washing and thousands of years of cultural hatred with a 12 step program?

This is a sick joke, right?

I am sure at the next anti-US rally – this will be heralded as the beacon of course for “progressive” Islam… An addendum to the Koran – mandatory, of course.

    • proreason says:

Odie, I see you are making the same underlying assumption that I have made for years, which is that liberal nanny-staters are well-intentionned people.

There may be some of course, but let’s face it, there aren’t many people who are that stupid, even considering they are liberals.

It’s time to begin facing the fact that most of this insanity is actually being driven by people who genuinely want to destroy this country, for many reasons, but primarilly because they are Communists or Muslims or just angry at us all because they are such miserable failures or perverts themselves (Barney Franks, et al).

    • Odie44 says:

      pro –

I can assure you, I have never thought any liberal has/had/will have good intentions.

I tend to side with the fact they are miserable “outcasts” who have self esteem / image issues and hate themselves more than anything else. I believe thier entire ethos is a twisted 180 of common sense, reason and action.

I believe they are more dangerous to others, like a drunk driver going 95mph on a rural street, than they can admit to themselves.

Pitiful, self loathing dolts who lie about intent, and fail to see the results of any action.

Its why Ayers needed to change his real name – due to that “family guilt” of being wealthy, gays as a group need “special protection” and Planned Parenthood began with a social engineering racist.

They are too dumb to both know, want to know and admit it.

And I dont feel sorry 1 iota for them. Of course, I do need to mitigate their damage each and every day…

    • JohnMG says:

      Yep. What Odie said!

      How succinct. ;-}

  11. wardmama4 says:

-‘a rehabilitation program in Saudi Arabia’- I am laughing – at either the utter stupidity of CNN or their belief that Americans are ignorant to buy this b.s. Of course there are no more ‘terrorists’ in Saudi Arabia – their rehabilitation program probably consists of the group watch ali-jihadi having the c*** beat out of him and the head of the program saying – choice – renounce terrorism or you are next.

What a load of real msm bs. Anything no matter how patently stupid or absurd to promote The One’s ™ stupid and absurd agenda & policies – sort of like Shrieker of the House Pelosi – saying contraception pork in the Generational Theft Act of 2009 will stimulate the economy (ok, she said it would reduce costs that states would have to pay – as I said, stupid and absurd).

  12. canary says:

After they sue us, Obama will give the released terrorists our jobs.

  13. sheehanjihad says:

Not that it makes any difference, but this hilarious site rips jihadists one side up and down the other….but…BUT!! I thought that we discovered and coined “rage boy” from the Lebanon debacle….and these guys copyrighted it. No kidding! I think I am going to get the same thing done with “tater stick” and “The Snag”….sheesh….werent we first? Anyone?
