Joker Poster Of Obama Is ‘Dangerous’

From the UK tabloid, the Daily Mail:

Spoof poster of Obama’s face painted as The Joker branded ‘dangerous and mean-spirited’

04th August 2009

A poster depicting Barack Obama as Batman villain The Joker has been called ‘mean-spirited and dangerous’ by the U.S. President’s supporters.

The image, which has been adopted by Mr Obama’s critics, shows him wearing the white face paint and smudged red lips of the character most recently played by the late actor Heath Ledger. Beneath the picture reads the word ‘socialism’.

The creator of the image remains unknown, but the website that first published the image crashed yesterday because so many had been attempting to view it. It has since been spotted in Los Angeles and Atlanta after it appeared in U.S. media.

The right-wing editor of the American Thinker website, Thomas Lifson, wrote today: ‘It is starting.

‘Open mockery of of Barack Obama, as disillusionment sets in with the man, his policies, and the phony image of a race-healing, brilliant, scholarly middle-of-the-roader.’

But the President’s supporters have condemned the image, calling it ‘mean-spirited and dangerous.’

A spokesman from the Los Angeles urban policy unit said that depicting the president as demonic and a socialist ‘goes beyond political spoofery.’

The image comes as the President faces criticism over his plans to create a $1trillion healthcare programme.

Republican chairman Michael Steele first used the word ‘socialism’ in relation to Mr Obama two weeks ago as he slammed the President’s attempts to push Congress into passing the healthcare reforms.

This article neglects to mention that the unidentified ‘spokesman for the ‘Los Angeles urban policy unit’ is none other than Mr. Earl Ofari Hutchinson.

A quick check of Wikipedia reveals:

Earl Ofari Hutchinson

Earl Ofari Hutchinson is a journalist, author and broadcaster. Hutchinson is also the author of nine books about the African American experience. He serves as the President of the National Alliance for Positive Action, and is a contributor to The Huffington Post, Blacknews.com and Blackamerica.web.com. He is an associate editor of New America Media.

Funny how he is not given any other label besides being an ‘Obama supporter.’

Whereas our very good friend Thomas Lifson is called a ‘right wing editor.’

By the way, where was Mr. Hutchinson’s outrage when his Huffington Post published a photoshopped image of Senator Joseph Lieberman in black face?

“depicting the president as demonic and a socialist ‘goes beyond political spoofery.”

Yeah, it goes beyond political spoofery and arrives at honesty and clear mindedness.

  2. catie says:

I’d like to get a copy of this poster myself.

  3. VMAN says:

The left projects everything that they are on the real Americans even going so far as to call us terrorists. Everything that they said George Bush was Obama IS!!! He’s a swaggering, pompous, inarticulate boob. This poster is very accurate and the problem is is that the left knows it. I think this is just the beginning. Be prepared people because this idiot just may become unhinged and then who knows what might happen.

Good call and proper assessment, VMAN. He sees the facade melting away and he (and his henchmen) will not walk quietly away…

The Dems seem to have a problem with free speech if they brand any humorous criticism of the president as “dangerous.” Such a comparison is commonly used by dictators who oppose dissent from the government. And these are the same Dems who depicted Bush as a chimp and far worse. I seem to remember a liberal protester carrying a drawing of Bush with a severed head, as some sort of freak reference against the war in Iraq.

If they can dish it, they can……oh, never mind.

The Ministry of Propaganda is indeed unhappy. I see no “spoofery” at all in this depiction. If it walks like a duck…….. As far as the demonic part – we’ll just have to wait and see. The true colors are just beginning to show in that regard. CATIE – I have already asked a friend to see if he can locate some of these and offered a few hundred bucks for a stack of them. I understand they are showing up in Atlanta, also. They need to be distributed. “Socialism” – quite fitting indeed. Judging from the town halls, these buffoons are just experiencing the calm before the real storm.VMAN – I think the unhinged part already applies.

Yarddog, is that true? Surely you jest…maybe in surrounding areas like Alpharetta and Roswell, but in Atlanta proper?? Really???
      Wow, that makes me giggle.

hangovervictim: are you in the Roswell / Alpharetta area?

No, but I lived there for a year back in the 90’s and it’s only gotten worse (from a political perspective). Just thinking that there are far too many libs in metro Atlanta for anyone to be able to sneak putting up this poster. Unless of course they did it in the dark wearing all black and ski masks and had lightening fast cars for a quick getaway.

  6. proreason says:

    The poster is genius.

It’s a perfect image for what we all know.

The man is an imposter and a criminal.

I’m surprised it took this long for some intelligent enterprising artist to make this artwork up! Sign me up for 10 copies!! I know some re-thinking voters for Obama who are thinking this way …

There are no “racist” undertones—the Joker can be any ethnicity. It is not a caricature, nor does it “put” the central subject of the artwork in any danger: there is no angry mob behind him, no gun pointed to his head.

If I am going to shrug off the image of Bush as the Joker, then this one is just as benign. Can’t be both ways—the Obama as Joker is as “dangerous” as the Bush as Joker is “true,” as libs would like for us to believe.

In my somewhat humble conservative/libertarian opinion of course.

Love the pic of the “First” black prez and Joe in proper attire!

Glad to see Barry without his make up on. Kinda looks like Marilyn Manson in drag.
    Can you dig it?
    I kneeeeew you would!!

I believe in being fair and balanced. Set up some Ojoker posters next to Dear Leader’s birthday mosaic outside the White House. Let the people decide.

  9. Marc says:

Oh what are all of these Obamamaniacs complaining about?

    What is the big deal?

Do liberals, lefties, and minorities really think this is going to incite anyone to off this Joker of a President?

Let us face it, Libs & Minorities can dish it out but they squeal like stuck pigs when they get the same

  11. neocon mom says:

This is the most genius piece of art produced in my lifetime. Perfect foil for the iconic image that the Obama campaign came up with (a display of Mussolini-level narcissism).

No wonder they’re afraid of it. They can’t just brush it off the way Bush’s supporters brushed off all the nasty caricatures of him.

    The truth hurts.

  12. pdsand says:

Well as we all know, the liberal demands complete control of the message and the image. If there’s one thing they can’t stand it’s something like this. An unflattering image of Obama is absolutely unthinkable to these people. That’s why the poster is “dangerous”.

    • Dangerous says:

The Obama supporters are absolutely right. This piece is dangerous; at least to them and their idol.

Its creation represents free thought in opposition to Obama. Its public posting represents free expression in defiance of the powers that are already being aligned against common citizens. That makes it incredibly dangerous to someone who wants to be in charge but is built of no more substance than your average bag of cotton candy.

Free thought, and the courage to freely express those thoughts. If enough people had both, Obama never would have been elected. And deep down, he and his supporters know it. Their reaction to this is proof.

    • neocon mom says:

I think it’s even more brilliant that the iconographer is anonymous. Libs are basically speechless since they operate primarily through personal attack. There is no person here to attack, so they are reeling without their typical defense.

But when and if they do find out who did this, I hope he has all of his tax returns/ information from the last 20 years in order…

    • JohnMG says:

A bully without a mark is totally ineffective. You’ve pegged it perfectly, neocon mom. Obama is a cheap thug, but he’s begun to find that Chicago tactics won’t work on whole classes of people spread over the entire nation. Trying to squelch free speech could well be his undoing.

I gotta hand it to Christopher Weber at politicsdaily.com…in his article yesterday “Obama ‘Joker’ Picture Pops up In Los Angeles and Across the Internet”, he actually says, “For some reason Hutchinson wasn’t nearly so upset when President George W. Bush was depicted with devil horns.”
Very observant and thanks for noting, Mr. Weber!!

  15. dulcimergrl says:

I saw another Obama image on American Thinker today that I think is spot-on. It’s an Omega with ears, labeled “Obama resistence”. Great stuff–Ohms measure electrical resistence (which I forgot and learned from one of the comments in the article.) I’d like to attach it here, but don’t know how. Can it be done?
