Karl Rove’s Memoir Exposes Harry Reid

From the Politico:

Karl Rove’s memoir attacks Harry Reid

In a memoir out Tuesday, Karl Rove discloses a private phone conversation with Harry Reid in which Rove says the Senate Democratic leader offered a deal to confirm judges he considered “morally unfit” in order to clear a logjam in the Senate.

“I was stunned at his cynicism and willingness to treat judicial nominees as if they were minor-league baseball prospects to be traded,” Rove writes in the 596-page book, “Courage and Consequence: My Life as a Conservative in the Fight” (Threshold Editions, a division of Simon & Schuster).

Jim Manley, senior communications adviser to Reid, said he is "not going to respond to a guy who has such a well-documented lack of familiarity with the truth."

The account by Rove, who was White House senior adviser under former President George W. Bush, begins: “It was the dull, cloudy afternoon of January 26, 2005, when I returned a call from Senator Harry Reid. … He wanted a deal on judges. Senate Democrats had been blocking five Bush nominees for appeals court vacancies. …

“Reid got right to the point. The battle over judges was tying up the Senate. He wanted a way out. ‘Every one of these people is morally unfit to be on the bench,’ Reid said in a sweeping and unjustified condemnation. But if the president withdrew three of them, Reid would work to deliver Senate Democrats for the remaining two, with no filibuster.”

We posted this not because it is any surprise that Mr. Reid is such a venal wheeler dealer, lacking in even the most basic ethical principals.

One cannot have followed the great man’s career for more than a week without realizing that.

No, we posted it to delight in the sheer chutzpah of his spokesman, Mr. Manley, accusing someone of being a liar.

With a few mouse clicks one can find a countless number of Messrs Reid and Manley’s remarks that show a conspicuous “lack of familiarity with the truth.”

Such as this, taken at random:

“Senator Daschle will be confirmed as Secretary of Health and Human Services,” Reid spokesman Jim Manley said.

But that just scratches the surface of their mountain of mendacity.

If anyone’s up to it, I would love to see a list of Dingy Harry Reid’s lies, the most recent being, “Nobody’s talking about reconciliation”. What about “No federal monies will be used to pay for abortions”. Or something like that.

    Anyone?

I’m sure the list is long and compelling.

    • U NO HOO says:

It might be easier to just list his truthful statements as shown below:

Harry is in the same category as Obamy.

The concept of truth is meaningless to them. In fact, the whole concept of morals is meaningless to people like that. To them the definition of morality is: “what I want”.

Of course, Harry is not an idealogue like the Moron and the Witch. Harry is just operating his family business…..political crime. In the Middle Ages, the Harry’s of the world robbed pilgrims at river crossings. The smarter ones claimed to be sorcerers, but Harry is far too dense to be able to pull that off.

  2. proreason says:

The R-word was invented for Harry Reid.

Wouldn’t you love to see HIS grades in school.

    “Stupid” just isn’t strong enough.

You know, many years ago, I wouldn’t read the Dick Tracy comic strip because I felt like the villains were unbelievable characatures. Boy, was I ever off-base.

Now, those villains seem wildly understated.

    • U NO HOO says:

I love Dick Tracy’s villans, and friends, because they gave me a challenge to “figger out their names.”

BO Plenty, Sam Catchem, DICK TRACY,….

Today, Strad I. Various…a violin player I think. Check the strip, I’m Little Winging it here.

It is no wonder our government system is in such a shambles – corrupted beyond comprehension.

Hopefully, those in NV are awake now and seeing that this man not only doesn’t represent them, but is a huge part of the problem of why the US economy is tanking.

Wonder where America would be, if these people even half the time voted for their constituents and not themselves?

  4. GetBackJack says:

Harry Reid is biologic proof of alien genetic experiments on human beings.

  5. canary says:

Can’t imagine Reid denying something so commonly known.

  6. Liberals Demise says:

I’m …….. amazed that Hairy Read would do such a thing.
