Karzai: War Was Not Fought In Afghan’s Interest

In other foreign policy news, there is this from Reuters:

Karzai says Afghan war not fought in his country’s interest: report

By Peter Cooney | March 2, 2014

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Expressing "extreme anger" toward the U.S. government, Afghan President Hamid Karzai said in an interview with the Washington Post that the war in Afghanistan was not fought with his country’s interests in mind.

We should hope not. We should hope that the war was fought in the US’s interests. Which, in fact, were quite different from Afghanistan. Since Afghanistan gave sanctuary (and more) to the Taliban terrorists who attacked us on 9/11. Afghanistan was the enemy.

But, as is our wont, after defeating them in battle, the US tried to help Afghanistan. And we squandered precious blood and treasure trying to build schools and roads and hospitals.

Now we know we should have just bombed the Taliban and their Afghan friends (including Mr. Karzai) into oblivion and left.

"Afghans died in a war that’s not ours,’ Karzai said in the interview published on Sunday, just a month before an election to pick his successor.

He was quoted as saying he was certain the 12-year-old war, America’s longest and launched after the attacks of September 11, 2001, was "for the U.S. security and for the Western interest."

Again, that is as it should be. In fact, we should have killed Mr. Karzai a long time ago, since he has opposed American interests at every turn.

Karzai’s refusal to sign a security deal with Washington that would permit foreign troops to stay in Afghanistan beyond this year has frustrated the White House…

All they need to do is wire a few more million to Karzai’s Swiss bank account.

Civilian casualties in Afghanistan dissipated his country’s "common cause" with the United States, Karzai told the newspaper…

That and the US still not giving him enough money. In a just world, there would be a drone with Mr. Karzai’s name on it.

    Afghanistan foreign policy update;

    pull out all American troops.
    stop sending checks.
withdraw all funds from Karzai’s Swiss bank account.
    napalm every Poppy field.
strategically place a few cruise missiles to wrap things up.
flip off Karzai on the way out.
leave open American embassy and appoint Hillary as ambassador.

Just for added flourish, (I’ve always wanted to do this), build a nice embassy, complete with all the gilding and chandeliers, and let them all move in and watch as they discover—-there are no bathrooms.

      None.

Not a single potty to be found.

Ignore their phone calls for as long as it’s funny.

    • This isn’t about “democracy” or the Taliban or any other faux-made up BS … it’s about the opium , pure and simple.

Since DARPA developed an aerosol fungal spray herbicide that kills only the opium poppy, how come all these vaunted Generals and military experts aren’t clamoring publicly to eradicate the ISI’s and Taliban’s funding by eradicating the poppy crops?

Killing the money, kills the supply line.

C’mon, people. This ain’t rocket science.
