Karzai: We Would Back Pakistan If US Attacks

From a chortling Associated Press:

Karzai: Afghan backs Pakistan if US attacks it

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) — Afghan President Hamid Karzai has said if the United States and Pakistan ever went to war, his country would back Islamabad, drawing a sharp rebuke Sunday from Afghan lawmakers who claimed the country’s top officials were adopting hypocritical positions.

The scenario is exceedingly unlikely and appears to be less a serious statement of policy than an Afghan overture to Pakistan, just days after Karzai and U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said Islamabad must do more to crack down on militants using its territory as a staging ground for attacks on Afghanistan.

What is "exceedingly unlikely" about the US attacking Pakistan? Unless we are going to completely surrender in the war on terror – even to the point of allowing terrorists to have nuclear weapons.

"If fighting starts between Pakistan and the U.S., we are beside Pakistan," Karzai said is an interview with private Pakistani television station GEO that aired Saturday. "If Pakistan is attacked and the people of Pakistan need Afghanistan’s help, Afghanistan will be there with you."

He said that Kabul would not allow any nation, including the U.S., to dictate its policies…

The U.S. Embassy in Kabul said it was up to the Afghan government to explain Karzai’s remarks…

Remember, Afghanistan is the ‘good war.’ The war that even Obama said we had to win. So why haven’t we won it?

Obama has been running this war more three years. It is being fought exactly the way that Obama and the Democrats wanted it to be fought.

And yet things seem to be worse for us over there than ever. Why is that?

“If fighting starts between Pakistan and the U.S., we are beside Pakistan”—the only non-idiotic thing in this ridiculously stupid quote is he is technically correct, they are (GEOGRAPHICALLY) beside Pakistan. –and if fighting broke out, what is neutered Afghanistan going to do? –get in their ox-carts and throw sand?

Just like Hussein after being pulled from his filthy spider-hole, ‘I am Saddam Hussein the president of Iraq and I am willing to negotiate.’–yeah, the only thing left to negotiate is whether to be hanged or shot.

Or my favorite stupid quote, (Gaddafi to his captors) ‘What did I do to you?’

I think they have sun-baked brains.

Clinton has got to be the absolute worst Sec. of State in our history. Unfortunately with Obama cratering credibility no one seems to notice.

    Iraq – gone
    Egypt – gone
    Libya – going, going
Iran – gone with a bullet (nuclear tipped of course)

Clinton is not only a failure but a cog. She is following the policies of Obama, who likes the Arab Spring.

Funny how we aren’t pushing for the Arab Spring in countries that are already firmly against the U.S. with growing military prowess. It’s fine to interfere and help the rebels in Libya for their irrelevant cause, but we are not going to touch Iran no matter how much they pose a threat to our allies. Or Syria.

  3. Rusty Shackleford says:

Somehow, unlike the “Irish Spring” commercials we used to have to endure….visions of an “Arab Spring” somehow do not elucidate similar mental pictures of a bar of soap.

Karzai is not an idiot. He’s see’s Obama cutting and running. This quote was designed to give cover to the Administration to leave the region and spend defense dollars on his re-election on vote buying. Why else would anyone vote for Obamao? This is so transparent as to be ludicrous.
