Katrina Evacuees Trashed Rent Free Houses

From the local NBC station in Grand Junction, Colorado, KKCO:

Grand Junction Property Management Company Regrets Housing Hurricane Katrina Victims

Regret For Housing Katrina Victims

Stephanie Ross

Grand Junction opened their hearts and their homes to evacuees of Hurricane Katrina. One local property management company is regretting that decision.

Colorado Properties gave six families devastated by Katrina homes to live in. Their rent was paid, they didn’t have to pay deposits, and when those families left, The property management company says they left the homes with thousands of dollars worth of damage.

Western Colorado Disaster Relief said Colorado Properties had failed to do a walk through when the families moved in, and that some of the damage was there prior to the families moving in.

You really have to watch the video report to fully appreciate the full extent of the damage done.

Unfortunately, this story is probably not unique to these good Samaritans.
