Kerry: Climate Change ‘As Dangerous’ as Iran’s Nukes and the Possibility of War

By Patrick Goodenough | August 2, 2012

(CNSNews.com) – The situation facing the planet because of climate change is “as dangerous” as the possibility of war over Iran’s nuclear activities, Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) told the U.S. Senate on Wednesday.

Delivering what his office described as “a major address and current assessment of the global climate change challenge,” Kerry acknowledged and bemoaned the success of those who question the notion of human-induced global warming. He compared skeptics to flat-earthers and decried what he called a “concerted assault on reason.”

“I believe that the situation we face, Mr. President, is as dangerous as any of the sort of real crises that we talk about – today we had a hearing in the Foreign Relations Committee on the subject of Syria, and we all know what’s happening with respect to Iran, and nuclear weapons and the possibility even of a war,” Kerry said…

Kerry said the term climate change had become “an unusable word in American politics.”

“Climate change, over the last few years, has regrettably lost credibility in the eyes and ears of the American people, because of a concerted campaign of disinformation – a concerted campaign to brand the concept as somehow slightly out of the mainstream of American political thinking.”

“I have to say it’s been a remarkably effective campaign, you can’t sit here and say it hasn’t worked,” Kerry conceded…

It’s hard not to blush, after hearing such high praise from the renown climate scientist, John Kerry.

Meanwhile, speaking of threats from Iran, there is this report from the Jerusalem Post:

Ahmadinejad: World forces must strive to annihilate Israel

By JOANNA PARASZCZUK | Thursday August 2, 2012

In Ramadan speech to ambassadors from Islamic countries, Iranian president says "horrible Zionist current" has been managing world affairs for 400 years, adds that liberating Palestine would solve all world problems.

In a speech published on his website Thursday, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said the ultimate goal of world forces must be the annihilation of Israel…

Isn’t Ramadan supposed to be a time of peace? (Just kidding.)

Ahmadinejad added that "liberating Palestine" would solve all the world’s problems, although he did not elaborate on exactly how that might work…

He added: "Anyone who loves freedom and justice must strive for the annihilation of the Zionist regime in order to pave the way for world justice and freedom.” …

Why can’t he just wait for climate change to wipe out the Zionist? Come to think of it, that could be why the Arabs export so much oil.

But speaking of climate change, we also, have this report from the UK’s Express:

What global warming? Earth’s forests are soaking up CO2 better than ever, claim scientists

By Emma Bamford | Thursday August 2, 2012

The Earth’s oceans and forests are soaking up about half the greenhouse gases emitted by people – the same rate as fifty years ago, say scientists.

A study of global carbon dioxide measurements since 1960 found the processes by which the planet’s ecosystems absorb it are not yet at capacity…

Dr Ashley Ballantyne, of Colorado University, said: “What we are seeing is the Earth continues to do the heavy lifting by taking up huge amounts of carbon dioxide – even while humans have done very little to reduce carbon emissions. How long this will continue we don’t know.”

CO2 is emitted into the atmosphere mainly by fossil fuel combustion but also by forest fires and some natural processes. The gas can also be pulled out of the atmosphere into the tissues of growing plants or absorbed by the waters of Earth’s oceans.

Dr Pieter Tans, of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration in Colorado, said: “Globally these carbon dioxide ‘sinks’ have roughly kept pace with emissions from human activities, continuing to draw about half of the emitted CO2 back out of the atmosphere…

So how can we be having global warming, if the CO2 levels are the same as they were fifty years ago?

By the way, notice how once again we have to go to the British press to hear about a report from an American university.

    Keep farking that chicken John

  2. Reality Bytes

Apparently John didn’t get the bad acid memo.

  3. Does it strike anyone else as funny that John Kerry has waited until 2012 to come out in support of global warming? Once the science has been shown to be a lie concocted by “scientists” who depend on government grants to pay for the patches on their smoking jackets, Kerry comes out to support the lie. Little late John. The mindless hysterics were in fashion 10 years ago. If you want to prove yourself relevant, maybe you should look into what’s going on a little more recently. Plus I don’t think the Sun has promised to commit genocide because it’s religion and political hold on it’s people are being threatened because everyone doesn’t believe the same thing. Also, as a rule, the Sun doesn’t hate Jews for being Jews.

As if we didn’t have enough idiots to ridicule, enter John Kerry…..stage left.

Keep your eyes on the ball (or should that be ‘shuttlecock’?), boys-n-girls. This is just another in a continuing barrage of distractions and deflections. Obama owns this economy and world situation, and should be reminded of it at every turn.

“CO2 is emitted into the atmosphere mainly by fossil fuel combustion but also by forest fires and some natural processes.”

Natural processes you mean like people breathing? I bet all the animals from the smallest reptile to us humans emit more CO2 per day than all the others combined. And plants have always and will always absorbed it and released oxygen into the atmosphere or doesn’t real science count anymore?

I think the French looking Sr. Senator from Taxachusetts must have just woken up from his daze caused by losing to GWB in 2004. I can’t think of any other reason for his declaration of utter foolishness and stupidity. Must be spending time with Algore.

    • I heard a statistic once that said as a species, termites give off more CO2 than all other living things combined.
If we want to end global warming… we should call Orkin.

Translation: We feel that taxing you more is just as important as end of the world nuclear scenarios.

    Bravo, Kerry!

  7. Enthalpy

How grateful we should be to have John Kerry, gigolo, globalist, patriot?, and innocent victim of swiftboarding*, defending us against the evils of Climate Change. LOST was lost for the moment, but I’m sure that Senator Kerry will continue his efforts to cede our national sovereignty to the United Nations or someone. What will he have to say when the blizzards of global cooling arrive?

    * Wikipedia: “The word swiftboating is an American neologism used pejoratively to describe an unfair or untrue political attack. The term is derived from the Swift Vets and POWs for Truth (formerly “Swift Boat Veterans for Truth,” or SBVT) widely publicized,[1] then discredited, campaign against 2004 US Presidential candidate John Kerry.” Amazing! All of this time I thought “swiftboarding” meant that you were telling the truth. I suppose I should have paid attention to who’s truth we were discussing.

I’m still waiting for that turd to release his service records as he promised to do. Remember, he said they would prove that the Swiftboat vets lied.

I guess he’ll do that as soon as he finds them. Evidently they are stapled to Obama’s college transcripts……which nobody has seen either.

      Hmmmmm. Interesting, no?
