Left Uses GZ Verdict To Push For ‘Prison Quotas’

First we have this from the Washington Post:

Zimmerman verdict poll: Stark reaction by race

By Jon Cohen and Dan Balz | July 22, 2013

The not-guilty verdict in the trial of George Zimmerman has produced dramatically different reactions among blacks and whites, with African Americans overwhelmingly disapproving of the jury’s decision and a bare majority of whites saying they approve of the outcome, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll…

The new survey underscores not only the gap between whites and blacks, but also how passionate many African Americans are about the case. Among African Americans, 86 percent say they disapprove of the verdict — with almost all of them saying they strongly disapprove — and 87 percent saying the shooting was unjustified. In contrast, 51 percent of whites say they approve of the verdict while just 31 percent disapprove.

There is also a partisan overlay to the reaction among whites: 70 percent of white Republicans but only 30 percent of white Democrats approve of the verdict. Among all whites, one-third say the shooting was unjustified, one-third say it was justified and the other third say they didn’t know enough to have an opinion…

In the Post-ABC News poll, 86 percent of African Americans say blacks and other minorities do not get equal treatment under the law. The number of whites saying so is less than half as large, at 41 percent. A majority of whites, 54 percent, say there is equal treatment for minority groups…

In fact the problems with this ‘racial take’ are so obvious, even the folks at Mediaite have noticed:

WaPo Pushes Racial ‘Chasm’ In Poll That Shows Partisan Split On Zimmerman Verdict

By Tommy Christopher | July 22nd, 2013

The Washington Post… published the results of a new poll on the verdict with the headline “Zimmerman verdict: Poll finds chasm between white and black reactions,” but a fairer reading of that survey indicates a partisan divide, not a racial one.

The Washington Post/ABC News poll does show that 86% of black adults disapprove of the verdict, versus 31% of white adults who disapprove, but to call this a “black/white chasm” is to ignore the more significant partisan divide that over-arches it. The 86% of black people who disapprove of the verdict is nearly identical to the 88% of black voters who are Democrats or Democratic-leaning independents, and that 31% of white adults who disapprove of the verdict is exactly identical to the 31% of the poll’s respondents who identified themselves as Democrats

To chharacterize [sic] these results as a racial chasm is to ignore the fact that significant numbers of white people disapprove of the verdict, a similar number to the 39% of white voters who joined a diverse coalition to reelect President Obama in 2012

In other words, the real ‘chasm’ here is along party lines. Not race. And never mind that Zimmerman is a registered Democrat who even voted for Obama.

But the Washington Post, like most of our media guardians, is obsessed with trying to convince us how racist we are.

Which the folks at Gallup are also anxious to do:

Gulf Grows in Black-White Views of U.S. Justice System Bias

By Frank Newport | July 22, 2013

PRINCETON, NJ — While 68% of blacks say the American justice system is biased against blacks, 25% of whites agree. Blacks’ attitudes about the justice system have remained virtually constant over the past 20 years, but whites have become less likely to perceive bias.

The new results are based on interviews with 2,541 Americans, including 1,841 non-Hispanic whites and 230 non-Hispanic blacks, conducted as part of Gallup Daily tracking July 16-21, after the verdict in the George Zimmerman trial was handed down

The Gallup data reveal a continuing divide by race in views of the fairness of the American justice system. This current divergence by race in views of bias in the justice system is broadly similar to attitudes measured in Gallup surveys conducted in 1993 and in 2008, although the percentage of white Americans who say the justice system is biased has dropped by eight percentage points over that time, while the percentage of blacks has stayed constant

These black-white differences regarding the criminal justice system are reinforced by the results of a separate question asking specifically about the Zimmerman verdict.

An overwhelming 85% of blacks say the verdict in this case was wrong. A majority of whites (54%), on the other hand, say the verdict was right. Americans overall are divided in their views of the verdict: 43% say it was right and 40% wrong…

The "not guilty" verdict in the Zimmerman trial has resulted in outpourings of complaints about racial bias in the way the U.S. criminal justice system works today

Again, notice the theme. The word has gone out to try to use the Zimmerman verdict to push for ‘prison reform.’ (Since it doesn’t seem to be helping them with their push for more gun control laws or their efforts to limit the right to self defense.)

But this piece from the Daily Caller reveals the real agenda at work here:

After Trayvon Martin speech, Obama challenged to reform mandatory minimums

By Robby Soave | July 22, 2013

President Barack Obama’s statement [on Friday] regarding Trayvon Martin has sentencing reform supporters hoping for action on racial inequities in drug law enforcement…

The verdict, which has inflamed racial tension, is an opportunity to examine the racial disparities in the legal system, said Obama.

“There is a history of racial disparities in the application of our criminal laws — everything from the death penalty to enforcement of our drug laws,” he said. “And that ends up having an impact in terms of how people interpret the case.”

If Obama were serious about addressing these disparities, he should throw his support behind criminal sentencing reform, said Douglas Berman, a law professor at Ohio State’s Moritz College of Law.

“Criticism of mandatory minimums has been of significant focal point for minority communities and those who are broadly concerned that certain populations uniquely bear the brunt of the criminal sentencing structure,” Berman told The Daily Caller News Foundation.

Under federal laws, judges are required to apply harsh minimum sentences in certain cases, typically relating to drug crimes or illegal firearm possessions. These laws shift the power to the prosecutors who get to decide the initial charges, and often hit poor and minority communities the hardest.

The Justice Safety Valve Act of 2013 (JSVA), which was introduced in both chambers of Congress earlier this year, would relax the enforcement of mandatory minimums.

“It gives judges authority — if they think the facts support a lesser sentence — to provide written articulation of why they believe going below the mandatory minimum is appropriate,” said Berman…

Apparently, the Daily Caller supports this ‘prison reform’ movement. Probably because the young dupes there think removing the mandatory sentences for selling drugs will help them get their pot at a cheaper price. But, in reality, George Soros and the rest of the radical Left are pushing for ‘prison reform’ in order to establish racial quotas for prisons.

The Left wants to rig the system so that blacks and Hispanic criminals will escape incarceration if their prison population exceeds their percentage in the general population. Which they currently do by quite a wide margin.

All of which is being done in the hopes of picking up a few more Democrat voters. Since most people in prison don’t get to vote. At least, not yet. Only two states allow incarcerated felons to vote: Maine and Vermont.

  1. Let’s just skip all the dancing around. Why not just make it illegal to be white? And why stop there? Let’s make it illegal to be a Christian… to be a Jew… or to recognize any higher power other than Obama. Except of course Muslims. They have the religion of peace. [gag][choking on my own vomit] so they get a free pass in the new age of social/racial/religious (in)justice.

Then all they’ll have to do is take our guns, silence our words, and crush what little is left of our other freedoms. Don’t worry though, Obama can probably get it all done before the end of his third term.

Chicago Illinois refuses to participate in the FBI’s national uniform crime rates and other measures of crime statistics.

It is especially difficult to know the rape statistics, which stands out to me as Obama’s twenty year racist church Trinity with former Muslim Reverend Wright’s primary focus was aiding sex offenders to get on their feet. The other program was to find single mothers babysitters.

    • Oh ho, I had forgotten that. A scandal too far as it were. Thank you.

Obama running for office in Chicago also did not vote to make tougher laws for pedophiles who molest and rape children. He stated he took an extended Christmas vacation in Hawaii, but it could be he missed the vote because he did not want the other church members angry and lose campaign money.

I wonder if half the population will have to die like in 1300’s Europe before we see the end of the Ebonic Plague…or “Black Death” as the old name for Bubonic Plague is made new again with one major difference: It afflicts people of certain race/background/speaking habits.
