Lincoln Survives Voter Anti-Liberal Rage

From a furiously spinning Reuters:

Arkansas Democrat Blanche Lincoln survives anti-incumbent wave

By Steve Holland Steve Holland Wed Jun 9, 2010

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – A Senate Democrat who faced voter anger over her support for bank bailouts and healthcare legislation survived a strong challenge on Tuesday as U.S. voters in 11 states chose candidates for midterm elections in November.

Senator Blanche Lincoln of Arkansas, a moderate Democrat and a key figure in U.S. financial regulation legislation, narrowly defeated the state’s lieutenant governor, Bill Halter, after most political analysts had written her off.

In California, two women who are former corporate CEOs, Carly Fiorina and Meg Whitman, coasted to victory in Republican primary races for a chance at statewide offices.

Lincoln’s win defied a "throw-the-bums-out" mood that is sweeping the United States as recession-weary voters register their disapproval with the economic record of both parties in Washington in recent years.

She survived a multimillion-dollar ad campaign paid for by unions and liberal groups who said she had lost touch with her home state…

Despite the constant claims by Reuters and the rest of the DNC’s media minion, there is no "throw-the-bums-out" mood. There is a "throw-the-LIBERAL-bums-out" mood.

Ms. Lincoln was running against a candidate who was the hireling of union thugs and MoveOn.org. She won because she was more conservative than her opponent. Just as she will lose in November to a more conservative candidate.

The “political analysts” did not see this coming because they read the newspapers and watch each other talking head shows.

A Washington Post poll published on Tuesday found that only 26 percent of the public approved of the job the U.S. Congress was doing and only 49 percent approved of the way their representatives were handling the job.

Those numbers are worse than in 1994, when Republicans recaptured control of Congress for the first time in 40 years

And, just like then, it has very little to do with incumbency and everything to do with seeing how Democrats run amuck when they have full control of Congress.

By the way, speaking of our one party media, here is Time Magazine’s headline on the Lincoln election: “Anti-Incumbent Rage Abates in Primary with Lincoln Win.”

They really are shameless.

It’ll be fun to watching Blanche getting crushed Nov 2.

Too bad it will take decades to undo the damage she has such a major contributor to.

  2. Right of the People says:

Easy to tell the libs are running scared when they consider this a victory. She was running against another even more liberal, liberal, DUH!

It’s like when I watch the Yankees playing the Dodgers. I despise both teams and hope they both could lose. Lincoln was the Yankees, Halter the Dodgers, I could care less who wins.

Right, Right. Although for me it would be Yankee’s and Mets. Hate all teams from NYC equally.

    • proreason says:

This was probably the most significant contest on this day.

Arkansas is actually a pretty good proxy for the country.

The citizens of the state prefer this HIGHLY UNPOPULAR woman over the basement jerkoffs of MoveOn and the thugs of the Unions. Very significant.

And she will lose the general by 20 to 30 percent.

  3. confucius says:

She also survived union rage–$10 million of it.

    …..”They really are shameless…..”

Maybe. I think it’s more like ‘whistling past the cemetary’, or, lacking that, they really are “clueless”.
