So, I think how this really happened is that the Obama cabinet, behind closed doors in a secret session waas trying to figure out what to do with all that money…and Barry says, “Hey, let’s give it to those “people who live in caves in misery”. He was, of course, referring to the taliban in Afghanistan. However, the none-too-sharp scribe, Biden, who’s pencil needed sharpening and the paper was all wet due to the sweat pouring off of him (the thermostat was up to 88 in the oval office) had trouble reading his own writing. Looking at it again…he only saw, “peop……caves……mis….i….y. And, owing to the fact that he cannot spell “misery” and that he relayed his this message over the phone to “interns” with admittedly far better English skills than he, figured he meant “Missouri”. Checking their “facts”, the interns noted the most recent soon-to-be-homeless couple, living in a cave in Missouri.

The rest is academic.

Purely an honest mistake.

Yes, Festus, MO was named after Festus on Gunsmoke. In fact, I think Festus and Matt Dillon probably settled Festus. Along with Miss Kitty, of course.

I saw this family on TV. The “cave” was nice, if you like living in a cave. It seemed to me there was a fair amount of income coming in also. If I had to guess, a lot of money was spent to make it into a home.

Hello proreason and auntieAM... Well what can I say about Curt? I was one of those, 'friends' that helped Curt put that little palace together... It really is a nice place... At one time it used to be a roller rink and they also used to have rock concerts... (More Pictures Here>) The thing was that at one time both Curt (Curt was designing web sites etc) and Deb were making some seriously good money so the purchase of that property wasn't a biggie... I had warned Curt about the possiblity that his job with its normal bust and boom cycles that paying a $160K for the property might be a dicey situation... What I'm NOT happy about is the possibility that the loan Curt is getting will be a result (at least in part) of that asinine stimulus package...

I’m not sure, but I think this house might have been featured on HGTV during one of their “unusual homes” specials. If so, it’s really kind of nice inside, but for the life of me, I don’t know how you’d keep the walls clean…

How could this possibly have happened without government intervention?

One can only assume that the cave owners are white, and like all other white people, have taken advantage of the system to exploit people of other races while laughingly calling it good fortune.

And then they have the hutzpa to say they built the home with their own hands. Obviously, that is another slap at people who don’t have hands, or are otherwise unable or unwilling to work.

They should be thrown in jail, and the home given to a deserving poor family of color.
