Maher Digs Up O’Donnell ‘Witchcraft’ Clip

From an overjoyed Associated Press:

Bill Maher digs up O’Donnell ‘witchcraft’ clip

September 19, 2010

WASHINGTON — Another unfavorable decade-old television clip of tea party favorite Christine O’Donnell has emerged, this time with the Delaware GOP Senate candidate saying she "dabbled in witchcraft."

[O]pponents have unearthed unflattering age-old television clips.

“Clips”? We haven’t seen any other than this “witch clip.” But by all means let’s try to make it sound like there are lots of them flying around.

The most recent was aired by comedian Bill Maher, who dug up one of O’Donnell’s appearances on his "Politically Incorrect" show in 1999.

The context of what led to her comments is not clear, and O’Donnell is laughing while she talks.

The context to this eleven year old clip is clear. Ms. O’Donnell is talking about her foolish past – which is now many years ago.

"I dabbled into witchcraft. I never joined a coven," she said. " … I hung around people who were doing these things. I’m not making this stuff up. I know what they told me they do," she said.

"… One of my first dates with a witch was on a satanic altar, and I didn’t know it. I mean, there’s little blood there and stuff like that," she said. "We went to a movie and then had a little midnight picnic on a satanic altar."

Gosh, how shocking. Again, how many years ago was this? How old was Ms. O’Donnell?

Maher said on "Real Time with Bill Maher" that he has more clips of O’Donnell and will continue to air them until she appears on his show

What a lovely guy Mr. Maher is. Both inside and out.

O’Donnell had been set to appear on "Face the Nation" on CBS and "Fox News Sunday."

Campaign spokeswoman Diana Banister cited scheduling conflicts and said O’Donnell needed to return to Delaware for commitments to church events and an afternoon picnic with Republicans in a key county where she has solid backing…

Banister said the decision was solely a scheduling issue and not because O’Donnell wasn’t prepared to go on the programs…

Separately, "Face the Nation" host Bob Schieffer said that program received an e-mail Saturday morning canceling O’Donnell’s appearance without explanation. But the campaign later called to say that O’Donnell had some campaign events.

"I can’t remember when anybody has canceled on us on a Saturday, but there’s always a first," he said…

Let’s hope this becomes more of a patter with our Sunday morning media masters.

I never thought Bill Maher was funny. I thought he was snarky and snobbish. And he still is. In Letterman fashion, he’s the smart-ass that sat in the back of class and who never grew up. He’s the one who snickers when someone orders white breast meat at a chicken joint. He’s funny in his own mind and spends inordinate amounts of time needlessly critiquing the actions of others.

  2. crosspatch says:

I see that Maher is doing the bidding of his political masters. Bet if he went the other way politically, he would be out of a job. He knows which side of the bread has the butter on it.

    • jobeth says:

Yeah…but this duffus actually belives his own tripe. It just happens to agree with his political masters.

  3. NC Cop says:

Are we really to believe that Maher WON’T air any of these other “damaging” videos if she goes on his show?? Please.

Maher is such a scumbag. Weren’t the lefties the ones screaming that what happened years ago had no consequence on a candidates record? Isn’t that what they said about Obama???

    What a difference a “D” makes!!!!

Pathetic. Please keep it up, lefties, after all your attempts to destroy Palin has really made her go away, huh??

    • jobeth says:

“Are we really to believe that Maher WON’T air any of these other “damaging” videos if she goes on his show?? Please.”

Knowing this scumbag…if she did go on his show..he would play every one he had and try to make her answer every one of them…and then edit the clips to make her look as bad as he could.

Everyone with a brain knows his vile game but he’s so dense he thinks he’s being clever.

  4. proreason says:

Got a feeling Maher would like a date with O’Donnell.

But guys like him don’t get girls like her.

    Sorry chump.

  5. hushpuppy says:

O’Donnell came off sounding giggly and stupid, like a teenager.

How many of us have said equally assine things when we were young teens? However – she was saying the whole thing put her off but Bill Maher being the liberal he is selectively edited the clip.

“Maher is such a scumbag. Weren’t the lefties the ones screaming that what happened years ago had no consequence on a candidates record? Isn’t that what they said about Obama???”

Yup. Remember when he was asked about his heavy marijuana and cocaine abuse – and he laughed and admitted he inhaled saying that was the point of it? Oh how the intellectuals lapped it up and applauded like trained seals!

Urr! Urr! Urr! Urr! (clap, clap, clap) Throw the media a fish….

  6. swee says:

No one has ever cancelled on Schieffer? I find that hard to believe. He’s an elitist and he just wants to remain relevant at his age. You know, he’s a hip guy despite the gray. It’s either “Face the Nation” or do AARP commercials like Andy Griffith. FWiW, Rove is saying O’Donnell needs to explain her ‘witchcraft’ comments. No, she doesn’t. The press is doing a good enough job.

  7. proreason says:

Maybe O’Donnel dabbled in ‘witchcraft’ when she was 19.

Maher is full-time into hating anybody who disagrees with his insane world view right now. And he’s about 50.

  8. canary says:

President Obama spent years heavily practicing witchcraft in his youth forming years in Indonesia.

In his Dreams from my Father. Obama tells of hiding it from his mother, and of not telling his grandparents in the letters he wrote & sent them.

Obama practiced Hindu rituals and “exorcisms”, animal slaughtering, aside the muslim rituals at his muslim school where he would get in trouble for making faces during prayer.

Also in Obama’s autobiography he writes of hiding his muslim faith from his grandparents & friends during highschool. He said it was a “feverish”. I would agree it was pretty sick. He wrote he hid it from his grandparents pretending to be doing homework in his room. His mother complained of his grades dropping, and his druggie friend that just went to jail, and then there was the shooting up drug situation he had
with a friend in the meat fridge at the friends place of work. And it scared him. He wanted to play basketball & go to Hawaii University, but his mother was against it.
So he went to Occidental where he continued his drugs until his rich muslim friend graduated, and he went to NYC where it continued, but he claimed to slowly give it up and work on his studies and get healthier.

And he also believes, the African ghosts that roam at night may be real. It’s okay to have an open mind, but he had an experience while there and he was told it was these night ghosts.

    • tranquil.night says:

Insightful. Thanks as always Canary. While of course this is more a narrative tactic on which to attack her as a hypocrite kook and stir doubts in her Christian base, it still is ironic that it’s this particular association that has the Ruling Class’ panties all artificially in a ball currently.

Maybe she could expand on her experience. She could tell of how she took the name Bella and fell in love with a Luminarian Vampire named Edward but it started a war between the tribes of the Underworld so now she’s running for US Senate to stop the war. I bet she’d get 80% of the Libs – half for her channeling of Twilight™ and half for saying “stop the war.” Of course she’d immediately be hit by accusations of lying and plagiarism, with Karl and Charles leading the charge no less.

I like Christine more everyday. You gotta have both incredible guts and a few screws loose to go talk beliefs and personal experiences with Bill Maher. It’s entirely noticeable that her faith has matured since then. She with the Tea Party have completely called out the Ruling Class. They’re smitten and in total panic.

They’ll regroup shortly and the climb will continue. But we’re relishing it.

    • jobeth says:

Canary…I always love reading your fact filled posts. Always full of telling details.

“President Obama spent years heavily practicing witchcraft in his youth forming years in Indonesia.”

Ok…Either we give O’Donnell a pass…or we ban O’Balmy from office. I vote for both.

Has anyone told Bill Maher his hero is “flawed” ?

    • hushpuppy says:

Good grief! I didn’t know all that drug/ghost stuff was in his book. I’ll have to see if I can find a pdf of it somewhere, I have the audio book archived, never got around to finishing it. Thanks for the head’s up Canary – I’m going to have to go back and check it out.

Watching some clips on Youtube of Bambam, there are some significant edits from the original printing and subsequent editions – and the audio book doesn’t always match up to what’s written in his books.

Bill Ayers ghost wrote one of his books according to an interview with a forensic linguist. It’s identical in style, etc to Ayers.

Seems like Blamy is practiced at hiding things from people….

  9. Melly says:

Just makes her more interesting and she comes off as a cute young lady.
    Much ado about nothing.
She should not hide from this….unless there is more of which we all are unaware.

  10. jobeth says:

“Bill Maher, host of HBO’s “Real Time,” appeared on the April 16 [2007]edition of “The View” to voice his opposition to all religion.

“Maher asserted that “pretty much all religion” is bad and all religion is “childish destructive nonsense.”

There are more asinine comments on this site as well.

Oh…and it might be noted that the clip he released of her “admission” is dated October 29, 1999. Just prior to Holloween. Gee, I wonder who brought up THAT subject…!

If that clip was 11 years ago…and she had already had time to grow up to be a decent young woman who was obviously denouncing witchcraft…she must have been, oh…all of 12 or 13 years old when she was trying to fit in with the exotic…like many kids do.

How old is BM? He’s STILL espousing tripe from that mouth of his that is much worse than anything she ever did.

Someone…please to explain how Maher’s Christian hate is any different from “witch craft”?…Its all anti God.

Except of course that at the time it was one of her first dates…and she didn’t actually become a witch…she just hung around with a bunch of stupid adolescents…trying like most of us to fit in during a NORMAL rebellious time of life.

And it was something that at least she rejected and grew out of, and matured…unlike Maher who is STILL a vile mental midget of 14.

I’ve never liked this piece of poo. Arrogant and ignorant of decency and common sense.

I wish he attains all in life he deserves….And that ain’t good.

  11. Mithrandir says:

All I can say about this clip is THAT’S IT? Is that all they got? She has obviously matured since then. When are women going to get tired of seeing the Democrats and liberals nitpick them apart whenever they try to achieve?

If Republicans had any sense what-so-ever, (don’t count on it) they will CONSTANTLY bring up the racists, criminals, liars, cheats, and scumbags in the Democrat party:

    ✤Robert Bryd KKK recruiter
✦Bill Clinton, disbarred, impeached, sex with intern.
✪Jessie Jackson, knocked up his own intern while counseling Clinton.
➨Governor Spitzer, may have wasted 80 grand with prostitutes.
    ■ Governor McGreevy, tried to get a job for his gay lover while married.
✯Marion Berry, caught snorting cocaine, didn’t file a tax return for 8 out of 9 years.
✤ Daschle and Geithner, behind in their taxes.
➱ Add in the other 1000 past and present pay to play scandals.

Every time these minor things are brought up, put the albatross of embarrassment around the Democrats’ neck!

    • AcornsRNutz says:

Hey, thats not fair. Marion Berry gets a pass because, as he so succinctly put it “the B%$CH set [him] up!”

    • jobeth says:

I couldn’t agree with you more. But I think that the machine Reps have so much “secret” baggage of their own they don’t dare expose these Dems. And the Dems know it.

And then there are the “walk the high road” machine Reps like McCain who refuse to use pertinent dirt in order to win an election all the while trying to win against the ‘street fighting’ machine Dems.

You have to fight fire with fire. Just be sure your own history is clean.

It compares with what we are trying to do in the middle east…Fight with one arm tied behind our back, in order to avoid collateral damage…IN A BLOODY WAR!… when the enemy hides in the middle of children or women, or the cry that the Israelis are fighting unfair by using weapons more lethal than….ROCKs against the Palestinians who have said they want to blow them off the face of the earth.

That’s why we need more NON-machine Reps (tea party types) who are not afraid to fight “dirty”…but with the truth…and at the same time STAY clean themselves. Truth will win out against lies in the end.

Sensible people are not buying the lies about the tea party. In fact its growing.

The fact that the best they can come up with is this childish behavior of a grown woman’s antics as a teen, is so telling.

“✦Bill Clinton, disbarred, impeached, sex with intern.” Just to choose one…the top man.

      That’s only the beginning.

The rumors of dead bodies that followed his rise to the top and those dead bodies who seemed to crop after his rise to the top…at the very least deserve a through investigation.

the self chosen continued imprisonment of a woman (Susan McDougal)…who’s husband conveniently died in prison… of a “heart attack” if my memory serves me… after he began cooperating with the OIC …rather than her answering three questions, seems worth investigation on several levels.

But then who’s going to investigate? The dems? The “guilty of misbehavior” machine Repubs?

All I’m saying is this is clearly a “witch hunt”…no pun intended.

We need to “hire” CLEAN candidates to office…ones that can withstand junk accusations like this.

Unless something with substance comes up…I’m with her.

Oh…we need go no further than our own president to find FAR worse behavior in one’s back ground. Drug use? Admitted. Bad cohorts in his youth? Admitted. Possible sexual deviations? Who knows..but highly suspicious…and also needs looking into. I’m sure there is tons more..but that will serve for the moment.

And she is being vilified for something like this. Stupid.

    • Mithrandir says:

I don’t think you need to be clean to fight the Democrats. They are like family court lawyers, everything you do is detrimental to the child. Have your kid do homework, lawyers says, “They are oppressive and pushing the child too hard!” Don’t do homework, lawyer says, “They are neglectful!”

Remember Gary Condit? Reverend Wright? Racist pig Al Sharpton, Kennedy killing his mistress, Dan Rostenkowski (pardoned by Clinton) James Traficant (House voted 420-1 to expel him. Gary Condit was the lone “no” vote)

There is NO ONE worse or more corrupt than a Democrat. People need to stop being afraid to stick their nose in it.

  12. hushpuppy says:

Such arrogance – but it’s typical for the lunatic left. Maher should keep in mind:

    1) All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God
    2) Pride goeth before a fall
    3) Everyone who is ‘big in their own eyes’ (in the Bible) came to a disastrous end.

And here’s the biggie: ‘Be assured your sin will find you out.’ [Numbers 32:23]

  13. Enthalpy says:

Saul Alinsky is loved by Obama, Clinton, and most of the current Czars lording it over us. Saul made a serious dedication in his book, Rules for Radicals:“Lest we forget at least an over-the-shoulder acknowledgment to the very first radical: from all our legends, mythology, and history (and who is to know where mythology leaves off and history begins — or which is which), the first radical known to man who rebelled against the establishment and did it so effectively that he at least won his own kingdom — Lucifer ”

    O’Donnell’s witchcraft comments are nothing!

  14. NoNeoCommies says:

Just about anything that comes out of Maher’s mouth can be used to paint him as “out of the mainstream”, “hateful”, “unfair”, you name it.

  15. AcornsRNutz says:

I would much rather be taunted and called a witch than identified by any of the adjectives that could correctly describe the odious Mr. Maher.
