Man Fired For Bush Shirt At Obama Rally

From the Los Angeles local TV station KTLA:

Man Fired for Wearing Bush Sweatshirt at Obama Rally

Reporter Eric Spillman

LOS ANGELES ( KTLA) — Don’t try wearing a Bush hat or sweatshirt at an Obama rally. Duane Hammond says it’s what got him fired.

Hammond is a union stagehand who was part of the crew that built the platform for the Obama event on campus. He came to work early this morning wearing clothing that says "George H. W. Bush". Hammond’s son is in the Navy, currently serving on the aircraft carrier U.S.S. George H. W. Bush.

Hammond says he was not trying to make a political statement. He says he got the sweatshirt and hat during a visit to the aircraft carrier on Family Day. The back of his sweatshirt has a large drawing of the ship. He says he wore it to show how proud he is of his son.

That didn’t go over well with his union supervisor. Hammond says he was told to take off the sweatshirt, or he would have to go home. He refused. They told him he was fired from the job.

James Wright, a business representative from IATSE Local 33, says the union is still investigating what happened. "If he was sent home because of the sweatshirt, he will be paid for the day," he said.

Mind you, this happened to a member of a Hollywood union. (Which is an affiliation of the AFL-CIO.) Democrats are almost as tolerant as the Religion Of Peace.

But to be fair, in their eyes there is no god but the Messiah, and Obama is his name.

One more sign that they are cracking up.

You have to understand, they have been reaching for the brass ring at least since the days of Woodrow Wilson, and steadily escalating since the late 40’s / early 50’s.

Since 2008, that ring has been so tantalizingly close. Every element of the takeover has been in place….the unions, the media, the intelligentsia, the balkanization strategy, the manufactured candidate, the fury of the queers feminazis and bloated racists, the Senate, the House, the Judiciary, the subverted economy, the massive unemployment, the propaganda machine, the messages of racism and greed and hatred, and, they thought…..a dumbed down, greedy, brainwashed electorate. It was a 12 cylinder car clicking on on 12 cylinders.

And then, in a veritable blink of time, the fat happy stupid lethargic preoccupied self-interested middle class began to look around.

And here we are, a few short days later, with a conservative backlash that has never been seen before, probably in history. Because never in history has the vast majority of a country had the ability to understand what their self-appointed rulers were doing. And never before in history has the vast majority of a country had 300 million fireams at their disposal. Don’t doubt it…..were it not for those firearms, you would be in the gulag today.

Thank you James Madison. Thank you Thomas Jefferson. Thank you George Washington. Thank you Samual Colt.

They thought they had us in a cage and that we couldn’t escape.

So it’s no wonder they are going insane.

How does it feel to be under the lash of fascism? Juan Williams, the guy who burned the “holy” koran on 9-11 (fired), Joe the plummer (harassed, investigated), reporter fired after reporting the truth about Obama, now this guy. What in the world is going on here!

What kind of country is this? What kind of people are these?

They people are so foreign to me, I don’t even recognize them as countrymen anymore. Perhaps sub-dividing the country, is the best way to make everyone happy.

Since it happened in California, this guy has a pretty good chance of taking his employer to the cleaners if this was the sole reason.

I have to wonder what his employer was thinking; he may end up losing his business.

Well, if he finds a decent lawyer….otherwise, he will shrug, laugh about getting a day off with full pay, think they were the suckers, or at worst, accept some kind of hushed monetary payment (our money.)

I would expect loyalty to his union, freely given or extorted, will win out.

Scary but great post Pro – but that has been the reality all along – call it racism, McCarthyism, bitter clinging, or what-ever the Left wants to call it – I can remember my parents talking about the Silent Majority fighting back after Kennedy was elected – it has always been there – because We The People are the ones who not only make America work – We Are America – and the Left can claim a majority (how when even their polls show a 21% claim of liberal?!?) but the real majority are the people who do not want the gov. giving them handouts, taking their hard earned money and most importantly telling them how to live. It is just now, so much easier for We The People to see 1) how even groups/PACs/Lobbyists have not had our interest at heart – but selling out for a piece of the pie (AARP for instance), 2) that the media is not our friend and 3) that the Right has as many sellouts and professional politicos as the Left does – who are stone deaf to what We The People want and desire for America. It is not going to be a win in NOvember – it is going to be the first shot in a war of attrition to get the anti-American leftist out of our institutions and most especially our government – so that America can get back to being America.

Sorry – I was just going to applaud not rant – now for what I wanted to say:

Two little key details that will help our hapless (and hopefully former) Union employee – 1) I read that he was part of the crew setting up the stage not at the rally and 2) the items were given to him to honor his son who is serving in the military – Wow – talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face – now I must go to some military sites and rev up the crews to go after an anti-military Union guy.

I hope he sues – teach these leftists by using their most favorite tactic against ’em.

What is the name of the company (?) the union was working for. I do not believe a union can take membership dues and hire themselves to build a platform for anyone. Since when is there a “union supervisor” who can fire someone from a job. Wouldn’t it have been the company who fired him, and the union business rep, who is investigating has the obligation to try and get Wright’s job back. Isn’t that what Wright paid his dues for, though he should know his union would do even worse like slice his tires for wearing anything that promote Republicans. The media wrote the article in 2nd hand.

I’m guessing that it will be a point if the company has a dress code, uniform only. If others had union shirts on, then that could even violate the companies dress code while on the job.

These unions confuse me. I still don’t understand how the SEIU or AFL unions work for company wise. Can anyone in the world join their unions? Wonder what IATSE stands for. A union for stagehands? the college hired. What was on his hat.

“That didn’t go over well with his union supervisor. Hammond says he was told to take off the sweatshirt, or he would have to go home. He refused. They told him he was fired from the job. What was on his hat?

The moron who fired the guy probably doesn’t even realize that George H. W. Bush isn’t the same person as George W. Bush.

    Pick Your Reason

When your friends can’t explain why they voted for Democrats, give them this list. They can then pick a reason.

    10. I voted Democrat because I believe oil companies’ profits of 4% on a gallon of gas are obscene but the government taxing the same gallon of gas at 15% isn’t.

    9. I voted Democrat because I believe the government will do a better job of spending the money I earn than I would.
    8. I voted Democrat because Freedom of speech is fine as long as nobody is offended by it.
    7. I voted Democrat because I’m way too irresponsible to own a gun, and I know that my local police are all I need to protect me from murderers and thieves.
    6. I voted Democrat because I believe that people who can’t tell us if it will rain on Friday can tell us that the polar ice caps will melt away in ten years if I don’t start driving a Prius.
    5. I voted Democrat because I’m not concerned about the slaughter of millions of babies through abortion so long as we keep all death row inmates alive.
    4. I voted Democrat because I think illegal aliens have a right to free health care, education, and Social Security benefits.
    3. I voted Democrat because I believe that business should not be allowed to make profits for themselves. They need to break even and give the rest away to the government for redistribution as the democrats see fit.
    2. I voted Democrat because I believe liberal judges need to rewrite the Constitution every few days to suit some fringe kooks who would never get their agendas past the voters.
    1. I voted Democrat because my head is so firmly planted up my Butt that it is unlikely that I’ll ever have another point of view.

I’ll keep my Freedom, my God and my Guns… You keep the Change…

Get out and vote November 2nd, 2010

Or it may have been that the Republican candidate was that bad…and could have been better. If the -R candidate had at least 4 years as a governor or successful CEO or CFO, that would have helped a lot.

It could be none of those 10 reasons.

    • proreason says:

      great list

I voted Democrat because I hope that will gain me 10 fewer sharp sticks to slither over as I’m groveling in the dirt before Imam Obama.

    • confucius says:

I might vote for the Democrat because the Republican sucks and the Tea Party candidate sucks even more.
