McCain Calls Libyan Rebels His ‘Heroes’

From his born again fans at the Associated Press:

McCain lauds anti-Gadhafi force during Libya visit

By Sebastian Abbot, Associated Press
April 22, 2011

BENGHAZI, Libya – U.S. Sen. John McCain, one of the strongest proponents in Congress of the American military intervention in Libya, said Friday that Libyan rebels fighting Moammar Gadhafi’s troops are his heroes.

And never mind that Mr. McCain does not know one thing about the rebels. Or that he couldn’t tell them ‘from Adam’ – or Al Qaeda. By the way, isn’t this is the same John McCain who proclaimed Barack Obama to be a good man and a patriot?

The top Republican on the Senate Armed Services Committee made the remark after arriving in Benghazi, a city that has been the opposition capital in the rebel-held eastern Libya.

McCain said he was in Benghazi "to get an on the ground assessment of the situation" and planned to meet with the rebel National Transition Council, the de-facto government in the eastern half of the country, and members of the rebel military.

In other words McCain has proclaimed the rebels as his heroes before he has assessed the situation. That is brilliant.

"They are my heroes," McCain said of the rebels as he walked out of a local hotel in Benghazi. He was traveling in an armored Mercedes jeep and had a security detail

Otherwise, these "heroes" might have robbed him and raped him. Especially if they suspected him of being a Christian.

Invoking the humanitarian disasters in Rwanda and Bosnia in the 1990s, McCain pressed for U.S. military intervention in Libya in February, weeks before the U.N. Security Council authorized military action to protect civilians and impose a no-fly zone.

Meanwhile, Mr. McCain does nothing to protect the citizens of Arizona who are under assault of an armed invasion from the south. As far as we know, he has never requested the UN to impose a ‘No-Swim’ zone along the Rio Grande.

When Obama acted with limited congressional consultation, McCain — who was the 2008 Republican presidential contender running against Obama — defended the president, saying he couldn’t wait for Congress to take even a few days to debate the use of force. If he had, "there would have been nothing left to save in Benghazi," the rebels’ de-facto capital…

McCain also has pushed for arming the rebels, saying the U.S. and its partners cannot allow Gadhafi to consolidate his hold on one section of the country and create a military deadlock.

Absolutely. We must give these rebels ‘humanitarian’ weapons. So they can continue their ‘humanitarian mission’ of blowing the hell out of the government supporters.

By the way, could it be that Mr. McCain has such an animus against Mr. Gaddafi because he has called upon Europe to tighten its borders and cut down on illegal immigration?

McLame is a courageious and fearless man and an American patriot. We owe him a debt of gratitude for his service to this country.

He graduated in the bottom of his class at Annapolis, and has done so many foolish and foolhardy things in his life that you have to wonder about his intelligence.

Chimpanzees can be taught to drive a car, you know.

“Those bright young men with a sense for wealth–go into business! Those with talent and and a voice, they seek the stage! Those with neither the sense for wealth nor any talent of any kind—politics.”

Who said that? I said that…me….2011.

He is such a tool. I can’t believe in ’08 he was the best the Republicans could come up with.
