McCain Says NC Republicans Are Out Of Touch
From his fans (until August, anyway) at Reuters:
McCain says N.C. Republicans out of touch over ad
Fri Apr 25, 2008
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Republican U.S. presidential candidate John McCain accused North Carolina’s Republican Party of being “out of touch with reality” over its refusal to pull an advertisement criticizing Democrat Barack Obama.
In an NBC interview aired on Friday, the Arizona senator said he has done all he can to persuade the state party to cancel the television ad that criticizes Obama as “too extreme” because of controversial remarks made by his former pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright.
“They’re not listening to me because they’re out of touch with reality and the Republican Party. We are the party of Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt and Ronald Reagan and this kind of campaigning is unacceptable,” McCain told NBC’s “Today” Show.
“I’ve done everything that I can to repudiate and to see that this kind of campaigning does not continue,” he added.
Asked if the state party’s unwillingness to heed his call raised questions about his leadership, McCain replied: “I don’t know exactly how to respond to that.”
North Carolina is one of two states holding the next crucial Democratic primaries on May 6 in the tight race between Obama and New York Sen. Hillary Clinton to oppose McCain in the November presidential election.
Obama, an Illinois senator who would be the first black U.S. president, has come under fire for attending Wright’s church in Chicago where the fiery black preacher made a number of racially charged statements about the United States.
Wright, who is now retired, said in a PBS interview that people are trying to paint him as “some kind of fanatic.”
The McCain campaign said it had been assured that North Carolina Republicans would withdraw the TV ad, scheduled to air early next week.
But the state party served notice that the ad would air. On Friday, a YouTube.com version appeared on the party’s Web site at www.ncgop.org with an invitation for visitors to contribute money.
Who is more out of touch than Mr. McCain?
He doesn’t even know that the North Carolina GOP is still running the ad despite his diktat.
Has any party in our country’s history ever had a worse candidate?

-’Has any party in our country’s history ever had a worse candidate?’- here let me fix that for you Steve,
Has any election in our country’s history ever had worse candidates?
I have not seen the ad yet, but heard it yesterday - big deal - as if this is ever, ever going to be even close to what Obama The Movement or Her Royal Clinton will sling at McAmnesty starting the day after the Convention?
Just further proof that McAmnesty is really a fiberal in disguise and truly out of touch with not only reality - but the real Republicans in American - I guess that makes it also out of touch with real Americans.

“Asked if the state party’s unwillingness to heed his call raised questions about his leadership, McCain replied: “I don’t know exactly how to respond to that.”
I can answer that. McCain isn’t a leader. He’s a panderer. The NC GOP has a leader and her name is Linda Daves. She is a real conservative and doesn’t answer to the beck and call of liberals like McCain and the drive by media.
In an e-mail response I got from a NC GOP insider I once worked with, I was told that thousands upon thousands of people have sent complimentary emails and made phone calls to them and they’re running 10 to 1 for the ad to air as scheduled.
McCain is on the wrong side of this issue. As usual, he won’t attack liberals, but goes out of his way to back hand republicans.

SG
As usual, you picked the perfect picture.
What a typical pompous ass/liberal. He seems to think the NC GOP needs to be more liberal friendly if they want his approval. If he can’t see a problem with Hussein’s relationship to Rev. Wright then he’s the one out of touch with Republican voters. In fact, he’s just towing the line (like the gullible ditz he is) for Democrats and their media.
This is our so-called representative government where we are expected to represent the party appointed leaders . Go beep yourself comrade McCain.

If he kisses the democrat’s butts to make all nicey nice thinking they will like him and become honest and patriotic…..he is sadly mistaken. I hate to see what is going to happen when he has to deal with muslims…..same kiss on the cheek nicey nice? I got something he can kiss instead. We need a freakin PRESIDENT…not a politician.

“Has any party in our country’s history ever had a worse candidate?”
I agree with wardmama……………candidates. So basically Republicans/Conservatives are misunderstood by BOTH parties and have NO ONE to vote for at this point. If McCain is going for the Independent vote, who will represent the Republicans??? . This is an outrage!
Great photo SG. Maybe McCain should just pick Schillery as his VP and get it over with.

texaspsue says…“Maybe McCain should just pick Schillery as his VP and get it over with.’
The only reason he won’t pick Hillary is if she wins the democrat nomination. In that case McCain will choose Obama.
I’m only being half sarcastic. I wouldn’t put it passed McNasty to do just that in the name of ‘bipartisanship”.

“this kind of campaigning”
The kind that might win.
April 25th, 2008 at 5:17 pm
I still can’t belive that Juan McQueeg became the nominee by default…what a f***tard.
Maybe I’ll just write Reagan’s name in when the time comes.

What a dumb shit. All he has to do until Auguat is just keep his mouth shut. If he did that, he’d likely walk right into the presidency. But nooooooooo, this guy can’t resist the urge to stick his thumb into the eye of the very people he will need the most for a win in November. What kind of perverse pleasure does he derive from tormenting his own people? Like a kid poking at a sleeping dog with a sharp stick, he’s going to get bit. Does he NOT want to get elected? It would seem so, from his bizzare behavior. Perhaps it’s because even he realizes that if he should get elected, he’ll only be a place-holder until we can get a real Republican in office. North Carolina Republicans are indicative of most Republicans across the country. If anyone is out of touch, it’s gotta be Wacky-Mac.

McCain needs to stop being a weasel. Its kind of funny, our media constantly calls him a “warhawk,”
yeah right, and Im friggin Rambo…
Side point: Someone needs to tell him about sweetness and light

“Has any party in our country’s history ever had a worse candidate?”
Good question SG.
Kerry, Dukakis, Gore, Clinton, Clinton 2, were all nearly as liberal, mindless, corrupt…
The problem remains CANDY, McCain is NOT going to change.
Maybe if we do not ignore the pathetic offering for the pure sake of defeating the Democrat Nominee (like a vast number of Conservative Pundits who are losing credibility by the minute), and continue to challenge the Liberal Maverick, we could try to inspire some improved effort.
But after three decades being in the Beltway Establishment, a known Celebrity Symbol of Washington, who believes he is successful because of his Liberal Placation, has enormous amounts of EGO, and is at the ripe age beyond 70 years, this SENATE ELITE is not going to change.
The reality remains, especially vivid after John’s major placation of the AP crowd, suggesting he supports giving them special rights, Senator McCain is basically the same as the other Senate Elites who lean to the left.
This is a politician who not only lied about his CLASS WARFARE excuses for not supporting tax cuts, but has tried to push Gasoline Taxation to address Global Warming with JOE Lieberman.
YIKES !
Just wait until he decides to offer some Cabinet job to Hillary to try to swing more Liberals his way, or promise give Ms. Rodham a Commission to lead to the Nationalization of Health Care.
It is NOT too late to boycott the entire thing, pushing the GOP to nervous, forcing some rethinking, or grow a movement to FOCUS on electing serious Republican Conservative Leadership to gain a Majority in the House and Senate (* instead of carrying the Maverick’s Water…).

Ooh HNAV, I like the way you think! Has this ever been accomplished before? Well, we can dream can’t we?
April 26th, 2008 at 1:49 am
THe NC GOP seems to be one of the few that still has a clue.
Meanwhile I’m actually starting to wonder if McCain can be President as well. He can’t actually be that clueless, can he?
April 26th, 2008 at 12:45 pm
Texaspsue !
hehehe…
It would be nice to have some constructive fun, and it is fun to dream. So many of these issues seem beyond our control, even as we have a fine Democracy - Republic.
But truly I wish, (instead of the entertaining Operation Chaos and other attempts), we would create a movement that places focus on empowering real Conservative Republicans in Congress.
At least, creating enough of an outcry, that McCain is more concerned with pandering to Conservatives than he is now with placating the Liberal Folly.
However, taking the majority away from the Democrat Disaster, preparing for whatever silly Liberal Senator gains the Presidency, seems essential now more than ever.
The amazing SG could consider a great term for the effort, say “Enough of the Mess”, “Give Harry and Nancy the Boot”, “Build A Sane Congress For The Future Liberal White House”…

Michelle Malkin makes a great point today that McCain lambasted the North Carolina GOP’s ad without having seen it.

“But truly I wish, (instead of the entertaining Operation Chaos…..”
I agree. I wasn’t a foot soldier in Operation Chaos, (SSSShh, don’t tell Rush Limbaugh), in Texas because of Sen. John Cornyn (R) and other Texas Conservatives that needed support in the Primary. (Note: Remember Sen. Cornyn was the Senator took one for the team when McCain laid the F-Bomb on him over the Immigration issue. Cornyn was trying to add an amendment that dealt with the illegal criminals problem in the USA.)
April 27th, 2008 at 6:28 pm
I voted for Sen. Cornyn when I lived in Fort Worth. He’s a stand-up guy and a real conservative.
