Media Champions Gay Sex In Public Toilets

From the hopeless reactionaries at Life Site News:

[AP caption:] Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Mayor Jim Naugle, while insisting during a Aug. 28, 2007 interview that he is not homophobic and is simply trying to combat illegal and unsafe activity in his city, has made a string of recent comments that critics say were blatantly homophobic. He portrayed city park restrooms as popular gay sex spots and opposed a gay book collection in a public library. He’s called for less tourism emphasis directed specifically at gays and questioned tourism brochures showing men in bed together.

Gay Sex in Public a Major Health Risk - Naugle Calls on Homosexuals to Stem the Spread of HIV

FORT LAUDERDALE, August 23, 2007 (LifeSiteNews.com) - At a news conference at City Hall this week, Jim Naugle, the mayor of Fort Lauderdale, Florida has called on homosexual men to end their public sexual encounters in order to curb the local HIV/AIDS rate. “We want to put a stop to that activity,” he said.

Since his first public comments in July, Naugle has been attacked on all sides for being nearly the only US public figure to oppose on moral grounds the encroachment of homosexual activity in his town.

Now Naugle is in the news again for his determination to clean up Fort Lauderdale’s beaches and tourist spots, that he says are a health threat. The tourist destinations, he says, are being used as “cruising” scenes for homosexual men looking for the anonymous sexual encounters that characterize the “gay” subculture. This activity, he says, is one of the major factors in the spread of the HIV virus in the area.

“Our goal isn’t to arrest people,” the Mayor said. “Our goal is to stop the activity…and we’re going to save some lives in the process.” Naugle said that eight men have been arrested in two years for having sex in restrooms at public parks.

“The health department, based on past statistics, estimates that around five hundred people in Broward County are going to contract HIV from men having sex with men.” The mayor said that the local health department estimates that 74% of HIV cases are the result of male homosexual activity.

Naugle first ran afoul of the US homosexual activist community when he supported the decision of the Boy Scouts to ban homosexual troop leaders. He has also objected to the presence of a large collection of homosexual pornography in the local public library.

His forthright campaign to clean up Fort Lauderdale has earned him the vilification of the mainstream press as well as the homosexual lobby. James A. Smith Sr., Executive Editor of the Florida Baptist Witness writes that a “Flush Naugle” campaign has been launched seeking his removal from office, although his current term ends in 2009 and he is ineligible for re-election

He told press that he would ask members of the Tourist Development Council to stop promoting bathhouses, where homosexual men meet for sex. Tourist information provided by Broward County invites tourists to visit bathhouses. Fort Lauderdale is known as the “Venice of America” and is one of North America’s most important tourist destinations.

But at the meeting today, Naugle found himself at odds with local tourism business leaders who are using the homosexual subculture to promote “gay” tourism locally.

NBC6 News reports that Fort Lauderdale Tourism Board members said the mayor’s opposition to public sex in tourist spots and bathhouses is hurting business.

“The county is receiving quite a few e-mails and inquiries of concern about what’s happening,” said Richard Gray, owner of Palm Resorts and Spa. “The gay and lesbian tourism market is a massive market here. It’s about a $1 billion industry. It’s a very important niche market for Fort Lauderdale.”

As mentioned elsewhere, our watchdog media and the rest of the “gay community”" normally hold homosexual sex in public places such as restrooms to be a civil right.

The latest proof of which can be found in the relentlessly vicious attacks of Mr. Naugle’s campaign to clean up Ft. Lauderdale’’s public facilities.

But apparently this is yet another civil right that is denied Republicans. (Even Republicans who were only accused of “soliciting.”)

Why is that?

“oppose on moral grounds the encroachment of homosexual activity in his town”. Dear ACT UP! and PFLAGG….. Is this homosexual behavior? Or is it just a bunch of perverts….Please let us know. If this behavior is prevalent and gays are allowed to marry, will they be granted an “anonymous sex” exemption with respect to their vows?

I saw him on O”Reilly last week. Interesting how the article does not mention that Naugle is in fact, a Democrat. I guess they (the reporting rag) figure it best not to mention the party affilliation here and let their readers assume its probably a Republican since the activists are always quick to accuse Republicans of being homophobes.

I’d like to know when are they are going to set up designated public bathrooms in Ft. Lauderdale for the heterosexual community to engage in a “leisurely activities”? I’m feeling a bit discrminated against right now.

“. . .the presence of a large collection of homosexual pornography in the local public library.”

WTF? Is this a normal thing elsewhere? And how on God’s green earth is having public sex a civil right? That’s a stretch for even the most perverted imagination. Even Caligula’s depraved activities received criticism from his contemporaries. And bathhouses. . .you see, this is why men need women. Almost no women will tolerate having sex in public places, and they generally don’t support having multiple partners on a regular basis in a place where all the people you’ve just had sex with have had sex with dozens of other people.

I’m not saying that all men want as much sex as possible all the time, or that no women ever want to have sex, but generally, women are a calming influence on men in the realm of sexuality.

So who’s this Naugle guy and where can I send him some homemade chocolate chip cookies in celebration of him not being afraid of criticism when he stands up for what’s right?

As mentioned elsewhere, our watchdog media and the rest of the “gay community”” normally hold homosexual sex in public places such as restrooms to be a civil right.

But remember, AIDS does not discriminate, folks. I can’t even imagine how unsanitary it would be to DO something like that in any public place, let alone a bathroom.

The left has no moral compass, therefore even the most perverse things - i.e., sex in public restrooms (whether hetero- or homosexual) - is no longer perverse, but merely one’s “self expression.”

They make everything relative. “Love” to a liberal means whatever person, animal, or inanimate object you’re currently sleeping with. That is not “love”, that’s fornication. There’s a difference. And be prepared for the next wave of “civil rights” activists who champion 1) polygamy, 2) bestiality, and 3) pedophilia/lowering “the age of consent”.

But to question or morally object means you’re a bigot. As we all know, the First Amendment even means nothing when it comes to the issue of homosexuality. Religious freedom and free speech be damned.

And therein lies my major issue with stories like this. If I could send my son to public school without worrying he’d be forced to sit through an assembly on the joys of “fisting”, read stories about two princes in “love”, if I could know that gay unions could take place without worrying about church prosecution (because you all know it’s just a matter of time before the next crusade is to make it illegal for a church to refuse to perform same-sex ceremonies), if there wasn’t this almost violent push to indoctrinate or punish those who do not conform to the politically correct line of thinking, then I wouldn’t be as impassioned as I am.

But this “right” is infringing on MY right of free speech and free expression of religion. And it’s bypassing the democratic and legislative systems. So either everyone’s rights are equal, or we’re going to have these fights because I’m sure as hell not giving up my rights because the politically correct think I should.

My wife works at a large University where several of her co-workers are gay. A few years ago a gay bar in town had their liquor license revoked when stories about raunchy behavior, including sex in back room stalls, surfaced. My wife then overheard a conversation between an openly gay man and a lesbian, who were discussing whether this was a result of homophobia or a legitimate action taken in the public’s interest. The gay man was clearly of the opinion that it was homophobia at work when the lesbian pointed out, “You know Brian, straight people don’t seem to have this problem because straight people don’t usually have sex in public places.” So what is it anyway? Don’t these people have apartments and homes?

  6. doingwhatican

Jim Naugle, a dem, dares to speak out against perversion at the expense of money. It will be classified as hate-speech and get him targeted by the leftists.

“NBC6 News reports that Fort Lauderdale Tourism Board members said the mayor’s opposition to public sex in tourist spots and bathhouses is hurting business.” I find it appalling that a taxpayer funded organization is pushing recreational, high risk sex in public restrooms because it is a moneymaker.

A reasonable voice is finally heard. He should run for Congress, challenging Nelson and Martinez.

“3) pedophilia/lowering ‘the age of consent’.”

That has happened more places than you think. All over Europe the gay lobbies have won these laws making it legal for (in different places) 16, 15, 14, and 12. Twelve! That’s in Sweden or something. I wasn’t emotionally ready for sex until I was almost married, I can’t imagine the damage to a 12 year old boy being preyed upon by an adult male for gay sex. The thought almost makes me cry.

EQ, I have boys too. The best book I have read about parenting of boys is called “Bringing Up Boys” by Dr. James Dobson. There’s a whole chapter on predators. (Here or there he makes a statement that annoys the crap out of me, like about how Mom’s don’t play physically with their kids. What mom doesn’t roll around on the floor playing with young ones?) But he also has a lot of good advice on things like how to make your son listen to you. . .touch them. Who knew?

Fort Lauderdale terminated the city’s Spring Break party place status in the late 1980’s because it wanted to attract “sophisticated” “well-heeled” “higher-level” visitors to the beach. Well, the “elite” is now comfortably ensconced and Broward County has the nation’s dubious honor of most new HIV cases by population percentile of any area in the United States. Congratutations, elitists.

I know a lot of gays, men mostly, and they’re great people mostly. No problem with gays. But my gay friends freely admit that “the gay community” as they call it, has some problems. And there is a big contingent of gay men who want multiple partners and craves the “thrill” of anonymous encounters. Hence the issue with public toilets.

I personally have a problem with “gay trysting spots” in public parks. I don’t want to go for a walk and see used condoms and tissues around, or watch single men looking around furtively for “action”. I find it disgusting. If heterosexuals were doing it, that would be disgusting, too.

I was in Palm Springs one Easter break before it got toned down in the late 80s, and the scene was unbelieveable. Drunken college kids engaged in nearly naked public exhibitionism. This was outlawed because the whole town objected to it.

It’s the same thing. I don’t want to have ANYBODY’S sexual behavior shoved in my face in public. Straight or gay. Get a room or go to a club that caters to that sort of thing. If there need to be more clubs for this purpose, that sounds like a good business opportunity.

Indulging some neurotic fixation by “doing it” in a public place is not acceptable. besides, if it were “allowed” wouldn’t the thrill be lost?

  10. Warmonger Infidel

There are two threads running that are very curious right now. This one, where, without exception, posters are condemning the public sex in restrooms, and rightly so. The other one, concerning ex-senator (he just resigned and good riddance) Craig, many of the most conservative posters are defending him. What does that say? My opinion is that when it is politically advantageous, unacceptable behavior becomes acceptable and is defended by both sides of the political spectrum. Where there is no political price to pay, it is never defended. Kind of sad.

  11. Gila Monster

Good point WI. I’ll throw in my two cents worth.

Say Craig was charged in the Ft. Lauderdale airport instead of Minneapolis? Would the MSM still be hounding him since Lauderdale is the chosen ‘Mecca’ now for gay encounters? Makes you wonder but hypocritical opines would be the norm, me thinks.

IMHO, the Craig issue is much ado about nothing. His only offence is being stupid in the realm of the public eye. Personally, I consider it “conduct unbecoming” but is it a solid reason for ousting someone from public office? Minor to say the least when compared with the outright fraud and criminal behavior of previous officials like Kennedy, his spawn, Franks, Jefferson, Reid, Boxer, Cunningham, Clinton, etc, etc.

Concerning Ft. Lauderdale, I believe Naugle is doing the right thing. Cracking down on actual public sex acts is the proper thing to do. I really don’t care what people do in the privacy of their own homes and such but when you cross the line and start having sex any damn place you please, well, you should be cited. Hell, go out in the woods, miles from anyone and have all the sex you want, but public restrooms, libraries, subways, alleys, et al are simply not the place for sexual encounters of any kind.

Like I said, my two cents.

  12. Warmonger Infidel

GM….had it happened in Ft. Lauderdale it would have been the same with the media, or maybe even worse because of Ft. L’s reputation as some kind of a gay nirvana. But more than political, I believe it’s heavy news with the media because it’s a political SEX scandal and that sells newspapers and gets TV ratings. Does his offense par with the dukestar who stole millions from us? No of course not, but I still don’t want a winky whacker in a men’s room, repub or dhimmi, making decisions for me in D.C. BTW, this is the same senator who, post Walter Reed rat, mold and mildew issues, stated the V.A. was doing a good job for our Wounded Warriors and that V.A. hospitals were better than most of their civilian counterparts. Don’t know about anyone else, but I’ll take my civilian heath care facility over any V.A. or military medical center any day. I think with 27 years of dealing with the military meds, I have a pretty good baseline to compare. But that’s just me.

  13. Gila Monster

I believe you’re right WI and that would make the MSM (and libs) even more hypocritical than they are right now.
Like you said, Craig’s behavior is conduct unbecoming and personally, I wouldn’t want him representing my interests in DC either, but his evisceration by the media and others is even more shameful, IMHO.

Let’s hope the good people of Idaho can replace him with a good quality conservative come election time.

  14. Warmonger Infidel

Idaho is our next door neighbor from WA. The state is a polar opposite from the blue coast of WA so I think they’ll come up with a good candidate. I don’t know much about their Lt. Governor but the word is he’ll get appointed and then run for the seat next year.
