Media Matters Wants CBS Benghazi Report Re-Opened

From the Washington Examiner:

Poll: 72% want the truth about Benghazi

By Paul Bedard | MAY 5, 2014

Just over half the nation wants further investigation into the September 2012 terrorist killings of American diplomats in Benghazi, Libya, in part because an even larger percentage of the country does not believe that President Obama’s team has told the full story about the simmering scandal.

Rasmussen Reports revealed in a new poll that 51 percent want the investigation to go forward… Worse for Obama, Rasmussen found that 59 percent feel it is unlikely the administration has revealed all of the details of the episode. And 50 percent are not satisfied with the administration’s story they’ve heard…

“Seventy-two percent continue to believe that it is important to find out exactly what happened in the Benghazi matter, with 46 percent who say it is ‘Very Important.’ Twenty-five percent consider more information about the Benghazi case unimportant, up from 19 percent in January, but that includes just 7 percent who say it is ‘Not At All Important,’ ” said Rasmussen…

That 7% is probably just the people in the Obama administration.

Meanwhile, there is also this, from the Huffington Post:

Media Matters’ David Brock Urges CBS News To Reopen ’60 Minutes’ Benghazi Investigation

By Michael Calderone | May 5, 2014

NEW YORK — Media Matters chairman David Brock is urging top CBS News executives to reopen the network’s internal investigation over its discredited "60 Minutes" report on the Benghazi attack.

Lara Logan, the network’s chief foreign correspondent, and Max McClellan, her producer, went on leave following the network’s internal review and have not returned. A New York magazine report, published Sunday night, has renewed interest in the network controversy and provided new details about how the erroneous Oct. 27 story — which featured a discredited "eyewitness" and several unsourced claims about the September 2012 attack that killed four Americans — ever made it on air…

A ‘discredited’ witness and "un-sourced claims"? That is Media Matters’ stock in trade.

"Re-opening the investigation is warranted as it now appears that CBS’ internal investigation was not thorough, was wrong on critical points, and omitted key facts — facts that would have revealed that Logan’s report was tainted by partisanship and unprofessional conduct," Brock wrote…

Yessiree, a minor news report must be thoroughly investigated. But not the blatant lies from the Obama administration that cost four American lives. And which was used to steal an election.

Media Matters sure has its priorities straight.
