Media Not Blaming ‘OWS’ For WH Shooting

From a blame-free Associated Press:

Details unfold in shots fired at White House

November 17, 2011

WASHINGTON (AP) — A man clad in black who was obsessed with President Barack Obama pulled his car within view of the White House at night and fired shots from an assault rifle, cracking a window of the first family’s living quarters while the president was away, authorities said.

Interestingly, earlier reports from the AP has a headline: "White House gun suspect said to hate Obama." We are not sure why they are dialing that back.

The U.S. Secret Service found two bullets had hit the White House and agents caught up with Oscar Ramiro Ortega-Hernandez in Pennsylvania on Wednesday after a four-day search. Police arrested the 21-year-old Idaho man at a hotel after a desk clerk recognized his picture. Ortega was scheduled to make his first appearance at 2 p.m. Thursday in federal court in Pittsburgh and many questions remained about his motive and background

This is news speak for ‘we haven’t found a way to pin this on the Tea Party or conservatism yet.’

Authorities are investigating the man’s mental health and say there are indications he believed attacking the White House was part of a personal mission from God, according to a law enforcement official who spoke with The Associated Press. There are also indications the man had become obsessed with Obama and the White House, according to two officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the investigation is ongoing.

Why isn’t the news media jumping to the conclusion that this man was whipped up by the Occupy Wall Street protests? After all, they didn’t hesitate to make similar claims about the Tea Party after the Tucson shootings.

Back then the media insisted that Gerard Lochner was caught up in the supposed ‘atmosphere of hate’ generated by the Tea Party. But aren’t the Occupy Wall Street protests generating a real atmosphere of hatred and violence?

But for some reason they are not getting any blame here. Why is that?

Shots were fired at the building Friday night. Agents discovered Tuesday that one of the two bullets hit the exterior and a second cracked a window on the second floor residential level, just behind the rounded portico visible from the south side of the White House.

That bullet was stopped by protective ballistic glass. The window that was hit is in front of the so-called Yellow Oval Room, which is in the middle of the family’s living quarters

This is not the first time the White House has come under attack.

In the past 40 years, the landmark has faced threats ranging from a stolen helicopter that landed on the grounds in 1974 to a man who wielded a sawed-off shotgun on a sidewalk outside in 1984. In 1994 alone, there were five threats including a plane crash on the lawn and a suspected drive-by shooting. Another man fired at least 29 rounds from a semiautomatic weapon, with 11 striking the White House

Notice how artfully the AP leaves out any statistics about how many times the White House was attacked while George Bush was in residence.

The media’s incubating and shielding of OWS is the most brazen hypocrisy in their sordid History of bias.

And none of the Civility Police wizards of smart from either side of the establishment dare have the stones to speak the obvious truth: maybe the Tea Party does and always has genuinely cared more about trying to fix this country than what idiots say and do to impugn and malign their image. Maybe they’ve been trying to send the Ruling Class a message through their peaceful and legal dissention that people can take care of themselves and their communities just fine if you allow them the basic fundamentals on which they’re built, like affording peole the dignity and security of keeping what they’ve earned.

Take away that dignity and ambition, tie their survival to politics and government, and watch what happens when all you’re left with is an irrational mob of learned helplessness.

It’s one of the starkest cautionary tales for America this century, and it’ll never be told in the mainstream.

Damn Tea Party infiltrators blending in and taking control of the human microphone.

Question: how does the 99% General Council deal with assassination attempts on its leaders? Is it a Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell Policy like all other crime? Perhaps we need a commission or super-committee to investigate and see if bipartisan consensus can be formed.

      1) Hmmm, Guy’s name is Ortega. I thought the Obama administration was doing it’s level and illegal best to make the hispanics in this nation love him. Guess this guy didn’t get the memo.

      2) Seems to have the trademark beard/birdnest that radical mooselimbs like to sport. Most hispanics prefer to be clean-shaven. Could it be possible he got some “islamic night-schooling”? I’ll wait until the MSM connects the dots on that for us.

      3) He lived at OWS and tried to blend in. That, I can believe. Like a stream into a river, that.

      4) History of mental problems=democrat. (See: Pelosi, Reid, Frank, Dodd, etc) Plus, radical parasites (think Lee Harvey Oswald, Sirhan Sirhan, James Earl Ray, etc) have a tendency to go off kilter and do weird things. Weird, violent things.

      5) Addendum to (4) is that he seems to have no redeeming social value and probably smells. That’s a card-carrying socialist/democrat.

    • Petronius says:

Rusty : “no redeeming social value….”

Indeed. The crime, violence, obscenities, diseases, parasites, filth, and garbage of the Occupiers we may perhaps tolerate. At least for a time.

But worse than all these vices are their deeply offensive traits that go unremarked by the media : class envy, bad taste, and dysgenic breeding.

Like the execution of the Duke d’Enghien, worse than a crime, a blunder.

Let’s see: Obama’s friend Bill Ayers is instructing OWS in Chicago, SEIU executive gets arrested at a San Fransisco Occupy march, teachers union and other assorted unions are “staffing” the protests, ACORN’s new front group got caught paying “protestors,” nerobama called the unions “his army” and now Joe Biden told the unions they “fired the first shot.” This guy was obviously motivated by the hatred and vitriol funded and supported by the left. With the constant media bleating about “blame Bush” this dim bulb just didn’t realize Bush wasn’t in the White House anymore.

  6. artboyusa says:

No way that’s Oscar Ramiro Ortega-Hernandez – that’s Cat Stevens for sure!

  7. Mithrandir says:

One of the things lost on most people about the Tea Party, and OWS, is that the American population is SUFFERING. Whether you personally agree with either agenda or not, there is enough disappointment and outrage at public officials, the people are ACTUALLY GETTING OFF THE SOFA and being active. –usually people shrug their shoulders and say, “oh well, what can I do?”

American’s are on STAGE 3 (anger) of the 7 stages of grief. Democrats hope stage 3 wears off, and you will be on stage 7 (the hope stage) just in time for another “hope” campaign for 2012.

    • Rusty Shackleford says:

Mith, though I get your point, the labeling of the stages of grief are not in any specific order nor are they all inclusive. When I read about this, I learned that it’s another bullshit tactic by some “doctors” to publish papers and make emotions tangible and have weight when trying to argue their validity. In other words, use them as an excuse for bad behavior.

This is not total dismissal that they are real and that grief is not a valid feature of humanity; I’m just saying that the PhD’s of the academic world have raised emotions to a true level of falsehood and legitimization to excuse crime, bad decisions and avoidance of responsibility.

Personally, I am not in any “stage” about the economy. I am disgusted with the people who have caused it, disappointed at the attempts to shift blame and angered by the tactics employed to play the smoke and mirrors game about fixing it. In my personal life I am troubled that it will affect me and in some cases it has already and I am afraid that my healthcare plan, which I like just as it is, will end up disappearing because of a desire for petulant self-important jackasses to gain more power for themselves and get re-elected by the lazy, self-defeating losers who won’t get up off their asses to do anything but pop out another welfare baby or drive down to their local crack dealer.

There are no “stages” to this. It is ongoing and merely shifts in intensity from day to day.

  8. chainsaw says:

Ortega was questioned by police on Friday morning, before the shootings, just across the Potomac River from Washington in Arlington, Va. Police said they stopped him after a report of suspicious behavior, but let him go after photographing him because they had no reason to make an arrest.
Ortega has an arrest record in three states but has not been linked to any radical organizations, U.S. Park Police have said.

Just curious here, what radical organizations make “the list”? Maybe OWS should be included.
