Medicaid Paid For 48% Of Births In US In 2010

From Breitbart:

Almost Half of U.S. Births Covered by Medicaid

By William Bigelow | September 8, 2013

According to researchers from the George Washington University (GWU) School of Public Health, in 2010, almost half of all births in the United States were paid for by Medicaid, and that rate is only going to go up.

And when they say ‘paid for by Medicaid,’ they mean ‘paid for by the US taxpayer.’

Medicaid was responsible for 48% of the 3.8 million births in 2010, an increase of 90,000 births from 2008, which was an 8% increase during that period.

Lead investigator Anne Markus, an associate professor of health policy at GWU, said, "As states expand coverage, low-income women of childbearing age will be able to obtain more continuous coverage before and between pregnancies. Now, for the first time, researchers will have a comprehensive baseline that will help them determine how increased access to services might change pregnancies and ultimately birth outcomes.”

We are bound to see much healthier and happier and brighter kids. Any minute now.

Study co-author Cynthia Pellegrini, senior vice president for public policy and government affairs at the March of Dimes, said that the analysis would help to ascertain how successful Medicaid was in addressing the reduction of childbirth complications and the health of women and their babies: "This study gives us a window into the vital role Medicaid plays in maternal and child health. With these data in hand, we’ll be able to accurately monitor the impact of Medicaid expansion and other factors on the births covered by state Medicaid programs."

In New York City in 2009, 76% of Hispanic births were covered by Medicaid, 70% of births in the black community were covered, and 31% of whites.

And remember, one of the best things about Obama-Care is how it is going to expand Medicaid even more. But, understandably, Democrats want to get people used to being dependent on the government from the moment they are born. Literally.

Yep from the moment the little entitlement monsters pop out of their mommy’s belly until the moment the Death Panels tell them they can’t have that new heart, or kidney or liver, etc because they’re too old (over 55), old Uncle Sugar will be there to stick the teat in their mouths. And don’t forget, vote Dimocrap.

This work of Hope and Change in America is too important to be left to God and other non-qualified personnel. Surplus population to the Left, Useful Idiots to the Right, please. I knew a girl that was working and got medicaid to pay for the birth, and then she has the dough to have the umbilical cord frozen and stored which apparently, can be useful if the baby develops certain medical conditions. I’m so confused. I’m sure she did not tell them she was working, but when she came up with the money to buy the umbilical cord, shouldn’t that have raised a red flag?
